Most excellent thats around my birthday and it sounds like sounds like Deus is going to help make help with the Dragon Age 2 disappointment.

Yeah, this game is going on the must-buy list along with ME3 and Skyrim.

I wouldn't go that far.

I would. Deus Ex was so rich in a manner that so few games are, I'm very excited for the sequel.

im not usually one of those people that wont buy a game from a developer ever again cause of some bad game they made. i fully realize that even the best developers lay some stinky poo poo once in a while. however, if they [censored] up Deus Ex: Human Resources i will NEVER buy a game from eidos montreal ever again. that is how passionate i am about deus ex. the only other game that i play on an almost yearly basis along with deus ex is vampire bloodlines which will unfortunately never see a sequel. i even put those games ahead of morrowind and baldurs gate 2.

I'll play Thief regardless of Deus Ex, but as a huge Deus Ex fan myself, I'm looking forward to it. Eidos Montreal has a true chance for greatness...I hope they don't mess it up.

Eidos makes good games and this looks like it has the opportunity to be very epic.

I never stop finding out new things. A secret room here, a little trick there... In my last playthrough I accidentally fell off a roof with my speed aug on and landed right on top of a security guard, and it killed him! Another way to kill, sweet!

No, I meant saying that Human Revolution is a must buy, or that Skyrim and ME3 are must buys. Also, just because the original was good doesn't mean the prequel will be.

I think I'll attempt one more time to play through Invisible War... I made it out of the first city last time I think. First trip with the helicopter. Then I said 'screw this' halfway through the new mission and quit again.

I just want to meet
Spoiler
JC :P

Then when I'll play HR I'll compare it to Invisible War and be very happy.

I stopped when I ran out of ammo trying to kill some things that take 8 shots to kill, at the end.

I think my save is in some vent or another in the first building. Its been long enough that I can't really remember. I can cope with a poor story and stuff, but heavy console-ishness is quite the barrier. Especially when the game also has a few problems with Wine.

Whilest I wait for the new DE to come, i might rig up my old PS2 and go through the first all over again, but trying the approach ill take with human revolution (for some reason human evolution sounds better for it, but thats just moot)

And [insert mad-big sadface] that my invisible war copy was lost :<, coulda played it too

The cutscene stuff from the PS2 version of Deus Ex looks interesting. How does the rest compare?

The PS2 version was "dressed up" some. Generally, it's all the same, but since the PS2 release was newer, a lot of stuff in texture quality was improved significantly. PC game, even with the HDTP patch project, doesn't look that good.

Is this really what the PS2 version looks like? Everything looks so bright and washed out. Or is my game too dark? :P

And they made the levels smaller. PS2 hardware limitations I suppose...

Character faces and some animations look better though.

As for a full HDTP release... I've given up hope. :shakehead:

I spotted http://www.moddb.com/mods/deus-ex-revision that I'll be using in my next playthrough... Whenever that is. I'll probably wait until that mod is finished. Hopefully earlier than HDTP. I tried waiting for that last time, but multiple years is a bit too much. :P

Sorry, I get a bit overenthusiastic when it comes to anything involving Deus Ex. :teehee:

PC game, even with the HDTP patch project, doesn't look that good.

Some of the models and animations are better, but with HDTP + New Vision + enbseries + tweaked settings you get http://s182.photobucket.com/albums/x203/CptJoker/dx_shots/?albumview=slideshow&direction=reverse (From my most recent playthrough.)

Still dated in some ways, but it's amazing what a few sharper textures and some moodier lighting can do for older games. :D

Wow, that Revision mod looks amazing! Hope it makes it to release... It looks like the full HDTP pack might indeed be a lost cause. :P

Did anyone see the http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rnDEH0CmW_c of Human Revolution? Looks better than I thought, and I'm glad they're showing of more that the "awsum cover-shooter combat".

Although, the bright highlighting of everything is an eyesore, and I don't like the look of those cargo boxes (cover for the sake of cover svcks). Would be nice if all the boxes are destructible or at least physics-able (they can be lifted and move with the strength augment, or explosions).

I couldn't get it to work, but it wasn't compatible with enbseries anyway, so I stuck with the D3D9 renderer (which was pretty much as good.) I did also find a nice set of tweaks for enbseries that made the faux-bumpmapping much more reasonable and improved the lighting levels greatly.

That vid makes it look like a stealth game with Borderlands style graphics. No thanks.

Borderlands style graphics?

I'm lost

Hey, if you want a CoD run through and kill everyone game they allow that. You never HAVE to do stealth. Just kill everyone if that's what you want. That's one of the things that makes Deus Ex so great. Choice. and rewarding exploration.

From those pictures, I'd say with the tweaks it's inconsitently on par with the ps2 port.

Ooh, mind sharing that? I didn't like the original bumpmapping effect, it turned all walls into jelly.
