Ironically enough, the devs and staff shouldn't have posted in the thread, for the very simple reason that they've just fed the troll.

Now that people know that all they need to do to gain attention is to criticize the staff's involvement in the threads, it's going to happen again, and again, and again...

No worries. This was just a temporary lapse of forum-postage. I promise: now that I'm done compiling, I'll go back to work and you won't see hide nor hair of me until I have to compile again and run out of other things to occupy my free time.

And you can take that to the bank! ;)

*snip*

Put down the Pokemon game now, back away slowly and get back to work!!! :drag:
J/K, its always a good idea to take a break from making a game by taking 10-15 mins playing a game. Continue as you were and keep up the good work.

I think devs are intelligent enough to realize this thread is the exception....

They are currently collecting trolls for the Skyrim mountains so they need to feed them to increase population.

Who other want named trolls in Skyrim. :whistling:

Do not meddle in the affairs of devs, for they are subtle and quick to anger and busy making the very game we're all so damn excited about.

But seriously, I much prefer Bethesda's mysterious yet cool devs. On other developer forums where the devs are much more frequent posters, they just seem snarky, arrogant and/or defensive about their content and design decisions. I've never noticed even a hint of that from the devs here.

I think it's better when they don't post. Otherwise the entire forum turns... bad. For example: go read some threads in the Bioware DA2 forum. I'll wait.

Okay, that's what happens. I mean, here we can actually have some discussion about how the game is shaping up to be unless one of the parties just whines a lot (looking at you, "Bethesda killed my kids" threads). There, any semblance of dissension is met by war.

I like to think of devs as behavioral psychologists, and the forums as a giant social experiment. If they interfere a lot, it throws off the results because they know something that the rest of us don't.

I have done something far worse, a customer paid me to merge three huge databases, now this was a long time ago around the time Daggerfall was released and computers was far slower so it took a lot of time. I set the computer to play a music file then done with a batch and was reading a book outside in the sunshine while the computer was working all the day. around every second hour I had to go inside check and make a new batch and out again.
Customer paid for the time my computer was working.

I think the devs should just be allowed to focus on their work, if they wanted to spend time on the forums they would, but hey thats why we have moderators they are here to talk :)

No it was a company, did a lot of odd work for them, recommended that they replaced one of their network hubs with a 8 port switch to increase network speed but they thought 1200 $ was to much, 15 years later they cost 20 $

While the DEVS make the games I do think there should be a community team managing the Forums. Insomniac and Naughty Dog have a community manager along with the Developers who engage the Forum members actively.

But the forums don't have any one assigned to engage the community. Its a shame really as I think it moves the forum forward, the forumites learn what can and can't be asked, what rules there are and the CM gets to know the forumites and engages in communication.

Competitions for artwork etc etc, running game nights, feedback on bugs/issues to the devs without the distraction of us all posting the same info over and over again.

maybe its something they should look at.

Why is this important to debate on. Like he said before. Once game is ready, you will see a lot more developers logged in.

Well OP I think that should answer you question. Just see now thats 6 Dev's all in one thread and besides I prefer these forums over Bioware's for reasons that I don't care to discuss without basing on another site.

Besides its more of a welcome and often amusing suprise when they pop up instead of answering the posters on a regular basis.
