Vaut 300

Only allows 2 people per ethnic group into the Vault.

They'd all be mixed and inbred after a few lol like Point Lookout Hillbillies except half Chinese.

Also i dont understand vault 70, does it mean no one could get out of their jumpsuit(zipper stuck)?

No, it means they could no longer get any new jumpsuits after a few months, so they'd have to recycle the one's they had indefinitely.

Vault 18:

The Overseer of Vault 18 is a medium sized rock, wearing a party hat, and every employed inhabitant is a platypus. Human inhabitants are not allowed jobs.

A vault where they were testing the effects of small spaces and claustrophobia on the residents. Filled with 500 people , either normal or all claustrophobic. The trick to this one is that there is that the door is designed to appear to 'break' when closed. There is also no internal way of opening the door. To the test subjects it would appear there is no way of possibly getting out.

Odds are with this kind of experiment people would either go mad and kill each other / themselves or just go mad but continue their lives with the depression of knowing them and their children etc will never leave the vault.

I do believe an addition to that should be to make the interior of the vault rather smaller in size, but also have the walls lean inward somewhat, to give a greater impression of being in a confined space.

Ok, picture this...

A small, dark, cramped Vault with about 30 or so people. They are armed, they have plenty of food and water... But, they believe they are in a spacecraft, not a vault.

On top of this, their weapons are sabotaged so some of them do not work properly, some often rigged to kill anyone who uses them.

Now, for the piece de resistance we introduce a mutated deathclaw egg into a sealed off section of the "ship" and tell the people inside that something they need is in there.

Upon entering this chamber, they will trigger an environmental control that will allow the egg to hatch and a small, head grabbing deathclaw will pop out and latch onto the first person's face and lay eggs in his stomach that after some time will hatch and burst through the guy's chest and then grow at a rapid pace.

Imagine a Vault where survival in the face of overpopulation was the experiment.

Dwellers are forced/urged to find a mate by the age of 18 and have plenty of children, being told that it will help with the rebuilding of civilization once the Vault door opens. One problem: Vault-Tec never really plans to open the door. Not good.
Another problem: There are only enough supplies to sustain 1000 people for 500 years. Really not good.
The truth behind the experiment was to see how people would cope with overpopulation with limited supplies. Would it make them better at managment of resourses, or would it bring about the same situation that led up to the Great War?

Vault 102: Half of the vault is full of Chinese and the other half is Americans. They spend 100 years separated and not knowing the others exist. While separated they are taught the history of the resource wars. after a hundred years they are allowed to meet. Will they still feel they need to kill each other after 200 years?

vault 101.5 = 30 inhabitants all named using anograms of actual vault 101 members. All 30 of these are exactly identical to their 101 counterpart & after 5 months in the vault a random inhabitant is chosen to be swapped with their vault 101 counterpart to see if anyone realises. If they are identified as an intruder, there head explodes.

vaunt 25 = 100 inhabitants are split into 2 sections, not aware of the other group. One group is taught that left is right, up is down, black is white etc (opposites vault). After years of reverse learning, a wall lowers and allows them to mix...

these are my svcky ideas

I can see something happening with that

Vault (# here)

Over two thousand men, women and children were to be in the vault. Just before the bombs fell the vault doors closed. The people soon discovered there was no food in the vault, no comfertable furniture. Just alot of machinery, and robots. After the first twenty four hours a sleep gas was released throughout the vault. When the vault dwellers awoke they found themselves trapped within a cold humanoid robotic body. Their brains were removed by the vaults computers and robots and placed within their new robotic bodies. Their human bodies were incinerated.

The vault was to test an alternative way for human survival in robotic form. It was also to test how a human mind will deal with being detached from it's body.
The Vault Dwellers were also subjected to round the clock subliminal messages designed to show how great their new bodies were and how lucky they are.

Vault was meant to stay closed for fifty years.

Vault (# here)

Built deep under a hospital. Idea behind the vault was for it to be a medical research vault. The vault was supplied with the best medical equipment of the time. A super computer with AI was installed as Overseer with a group of hand picked Doctors to run things. People selected for the Vault all had high to genius IQ or award winning athletes from across the country. DNA (sperm and ovum) from hundreds of people that have died was also included. It was to be an alternative to F.E.V research (which was to make supermen). The Doctors were to use what ever means necessary to create a human that could survive Radiation, Chemical and Bio weapons. To make the perfect man (In the Eyes of the Enclave).

The vault was supplied with Robot guards and jails for the people incase they were unwilling to cooperate. Each room was as sterile as a hospital room. Each bed had restraints. Drugs were also well stocked. Everything to improve human performance "to make you all you can be" was in this vault all but FEV. It also had many cryogenic chambers and enough food to last at least 100 years

The AI was programmed with the Enclaves ideals for the perfect human. It was not programmed with ethics. Human suffering is not it's concern. It had total control of every room, every computer, every robot in the vault. It's goal, to make the "perfect" man by any "means necessary"

Once the great war started, all communication with the Rig and the other vaults was lost. The Vault was only to be opened by the outside.. (Not that it could not be opened from the inside but only the Computer had the codes, It's waiting for the signal to open). What has happened to the people within after so many years?

vault 1 the 5000 most fertile people on the planet are found all of varying ethnic groups religions and laungeges the water in the vault is given a small but effective fertility drug. each ethnic group is in a area the size of a normal vault each mini vault can sustain it self for over 700 years there is a main chamber in the middle of the vault each mini vault has a auditoram church armory. the center of the vault is set up as a battle field with a exit out of the vault that can only be reached by going out an elvator in the center of the battle field/center of the vault. each mini vault holds 500 people 10 groups all fertile all self sufficent and all given a safe vaults capacity for 500 years. the vaults open to echother 100 years after the main vault door closes no one was told about the other groups. there are small cameras to monitor the progress of the vault from a main control room of vault tec employes/enclave they have full acess to the power to each mini vault to the medical supplys food supplys ect that can be disabled at certian points whenever they please. the vault tec/enclave mini vault holds 200 vault tec works 100 enclave scientists and soliders with there families all also fertile. each mini vault has its own overseer, the vault tec enclave also have an overseer. they have total contact with the outside via the vault tec enclave vault. the point of this vault is to see how mankind has made it to its current state of recourse wars and racism. the vault tec and enclave can only interven if the overseer aproves. his guide tells him he can only interven if 1 group is left standing. 2077 up until now everything had gone fine. shipments of supplies had come in whenever requested even nuka cola was brought in for the children. the experiment was due to begin this year, it was all on schedule with up to date reports on how each group was making out. the americans had resorted to a dictatorship the chinese had some how realized there was another group in the vault when the africans resorted to tortue of there last overseer. the japanese seemed to have faired the best so far there strict code of honor has resulted in the lowest advltury rate in the vault. the other groups are unremarkable now because things had gone so normal nothing would be diffrent from any other vault out there. that is the safe vaults anyway. the enclave overseer tried to stop the experiment but it was running on a pre destined path the test could not be stopped.

Vault (# here)

All the art, movies, books, and magazines in the Vault are those that have been banned in schools and by people considered radical by the American 1950's mindset. This includeds pormography, communist manifesto, Mein Kampf, Catcher in the Rye. Most of the movies were pormographic or violent in nature or were directed by people considered radical. The Vault had over 2000 men and women, 95% of them were no older then the age of 23, none of them had childern of their own. They were all considered good, wholesome young advlts by the people running the vault experiments. The Other 5% were men and women older then the age of 35 and were suspected radicals and even anarchists. Vault had a number of drugs available to the vault dwellers.

Vault was meant to stay closed for 40 years.

(Again how is this a contest?)

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Vault (# here)

A normal vault from the looks of it. It was build close to a aquifer (undergound lake). It was designed to slowly leak, the vault dwellers were given little to no means to stop the leaks. The vault's door was designed to Jam and can only be opened from an outside source. Over the years the Vault will slowly give way and sink into the aquifer. The vault slowly filling over the years.

Vault 46

The vault is filled with 1000 people and a temporarily sealed armory. There is dim lighting and an under-ground forest. 750 are drugged with a special chem called, "Mutate-X" It lets them adapt to the life of the vault through mutation. The other 250 must survive against the "Changed". The "Changed" are cannibalistic, primitive, use spears and bows, and love to kill.

Results - Before the armory opened, fifty survived, and all of the "Changed" survived. After the armory opened, five survived and the "Changed" were destroyed.

In an attempt to save this thread from its own depravity, I think there is a lot of room for business related private vaults.

Imagine the hell that would be the Wall Street vault filled with the descendents of fat cats, bean counters, and the SEC...

And surely the military must have have a few vaults of their own...

Plus the trap-laiden vault of billionare playboy Gill Bates...

And then rumor has it there's a vault under the local zoo...

Or the one where the population think they are on a generational starship... after 200 years traveling sublight between planets, they 'land', open the vault door and meet their first 'alien' - you!

ROFL!

I wanna see that one play out...

here be mine but I already use it in my RP:

Vault Nine: "Love and Peace-Hippie Vault" Two Thousand Women and One Thousand Men selected for their docile temperament and pacifistic nature. No weapons issued but extra drugs and medical supplies instead. Set to never open back up.

Vault 202
Simply, a control vault (made to residents expectations). Had various items like video games, gambling machines, a library, etc. Oh, and its the size of all the Hawaii islands.

Vault 10
A vault that was built with structural instability near the front door. Only one other entrance that was filtered with radiation and FEV.
Results: Door collapsed while people were filing in to the vault. Only two people made it in alive with their pet Jackson Chameleons that found their way to the other entrance.

A vault with a thousand or so inhabitants and a poisonous gas in the ventilation that could be set off at any point by a random trigger. It'd be like a giant Schroedinger's Cat experiment.

vault -1: An educational experiment. The vault has a total population 2000. All things are normal, except for the fact that 45 of the residents are math majors. The rest of the residents cannot answer the problem of 1+1. The 45 math majors must somehow ensure that the entire population is at the level of a college freshman before 200 years have passed. (necessitating the training of successors if they wish to succeed) The vault door will not open unless every living resident can complete a college-level standardized math test with a passing grade.

Results:
1. 30 successors were trained fully over the course of the experiment.
2. At 100 year mark, general population at 6th grade level.
3. At 120 year mark, small-scale rebellion. Education is reinitialized after Teachers sabotaged food production and claimed math could fix it.
4. At 200 year mark, first attempt at opening the door is made. 40% of residents fail.
5. From the 201 to 210 year marks, all attempts are failures.
6. Sudden decrease in registered population. 31% of residents deceased. These residents also failed testing attempts at 210 year mark.
7. At 212 year mark, door successfully opened.
