DEVS: listen. US:Collective community power is needed.

Let's voice why spellmaking is essential to the TES series; I haven't seen any questions about it for Todd in the GI post save the one I asked, and the devs need to know we need this IN SOME FORM OR ANOTHER.

I do realize there may be possibilities to combine effects, but this is one of the features most loved in the game. A mage should be able to do this. So, let's present our arguments on WHY we need spellmaking and ideas on HOW it should be implemented. Keep the complexity; it obviously didn't turn off those new to TES when they bought Oblivion.

I could live without it, but more power to us! So long as this doesn't take the spotlight away from the much-more-important spears petition. :P

I want it in its fullest and I think this is a large potential mistranslation.

The EASIEST way out of this is for a developer to confirm or deny that spell making is in. All we need is a yes or no answer.

I thought petitions were against the rules.

And before more moaning ensues, can we at least wait till we learn more about the magic system? We only know little about some of the bare bones, unless I'm missing a bunch of new information with the Italian mag.

Never really used spellmaking in any TES game. Then again, I tend not to play a mage character.

Not only that, but the poster of the Italian magazine summarization didn't even SAY what magazine it came from!

We can't even confirm ourselves, let alone confirm if ANYTHING the poster was saying was true!

I doubt too many systems need to be drastically altered to implement it.

@Hellmouth

The GI Skyrim cow has been pretty much milked completely, I believe this is the majority of information we're going to receive for awhile. Also, if petitions are against the rules, I'll happily remove the poll, I'd just like to see a community response in some form on why it's essential.

yes, if only to cast a spell with Frenzy and Fire and have enemies run around with their pants burning off. :D

Okay, more importantly, being able to tweak the magnitude and duration to what I find useful to my playstyle is important. Plus, I doubt the dev can think of every possible fun combination of effects. It's the spell equivalent to alchemy, and I like the creativity I am allowed to have with these aspects of gameplay.

My big question is this, how did we get confirmation that we had 80+ spell EFFECTS and now it turns out there's no custom spells. Doesn't one piece of information contradict the other? I guess I thought effects would be fire damage, shock damage, heal health etc, like in DF's spell maker.

From my understanding Todd and the whole team wanted to avoid the cheat/lame ways of playing; from running backwards to shooting arrows from up high on rocks to combining spell effects for major advantages. However, there are SO many better ways to prevent cheap player-created spells than scrapping the entire system altogether..

I hope it's just a mistranslation...

...Then again one of my oblivion past times was seeing how many town guards, or other really large mobs, I could wipe out chain firing off custom spells. An AOE weakness to everything 100% spell followed up by another AOE damage spell did result in mass murder.

I need an option for, "I'll miss it, but it isn't essential imo."

Where is the " I don't care"-option? And that comes from someone that almost never plays anything but mage-style chatacters. Never used spellmaking that much anyway.

You're saying the spellmaking system was cosmetic?

There will always be people who try to exploit things. Just because 5% of people like bending the rules and being uber doesn't mean the other 95% should be denied an enjoyable aspect of gameplay. And why should the devs care if someone wants to exploit something? It's the player's business if he or she wants to exploit mechanics, it isn't like other players of the game are somehow slighted or put at a disadvantage. TES is how you play it. Axing everything that could possibly be used to let the player be over-powered seems like it will restrict everyone else who doesn't think in terms of beating the system and being devious.

It's one thing to make a poll to see who wants what, it's another to petition to bring back spellmaking that may or may not be there. From what I've gathered, the info seems a little dubious, and we still lack plenty of the meat of the magic system.

Also, if the devs would just scrap what they've done so far and add spell making back in I'd say that we can forget about them doing spell combining in dual wield mode entirely and expect the release date to change to 12.12.12...

In one of his posts, he said it came from a magazine called GMC. On the http://bethblog.com/index.php/2011/01/17/dragons-preparing-to-deliver-skyrim-details-worldwide/, under Italy, it lists the name of the magazine in Italian.

Anyone here speak http://www.giochiperilmiocomputer.it/?

Its far too late to change now and obviously they had a very good reason to change it tlo whatever it actualy is now.. It just means they will have to put a solid amount of work on refining the spells they make and making the magic system itself a hell of alot better...

Still they need to talk alot more about it now so they can get feedback on it and find out what spells/spell ideas they forgot to impliment.

I wish they went into more detail on the magic system. Maybe the magnitudes of spells are proportional to the character's level? Are there even npc-named spells anymore?
