DEVS Please listen - Add back the many options!

Post » Sun Mar 16, 2014 10:18 pm

So I get they are listening to the people by allowing you the option of skipping the tutorial due to having already completed it once, that's great, however, I do not like how you miss the Starting Islands all together now and have to go to the main city - I felt it was more natural to do the starting islands, at least for one character, and give you the option of skipping them (or revisiting them) for your other characters.

Furthermore, whats with only allowing you to pick up a sword in the tutorial?!?! What happened to picking the weapon you want, to make the character you want!? Why do this? Why blatantly TAKE AWAY options from us!!?

Please fix this for launch!!!

1) Calm down.
2) you have the option to go to the starter islands after you get to your city.
3) you have the chance to find additional weapons in chests throughout cold harbor
3) Do you realize this makes people look silly??!?!!1!??!!?!?!? !?!?!!!
4) seriously, switch to decaf

Minus this guy freaking out i get his point, its system of: skip the starter island and send everybody to the "main" questing area immediately. Noobs wont even know the starter island exists unless they check their achievements or something, it totally throws them out in the open, its almost backwards in a sense, i garuntee itll be changed back, its a very big issue for allot of people, and has been brought up on numerous forums. they should be giving us the option before we leave the prison to either go to the starter island or the main questing alliance zone, like i said, they did it like it is almost backwards.

I actually was just in another thread saying this same thing. To refer to your second statement first, I really hated that as well. I hated that they took options away from us in the tutorial. I really wanted to be able to level my weapon skill line of choice right away rather than getting some levels in on sword, too. I wanted a bow and never got one until I got out and had to make it myself. I really hated that because I was forced to play a way I didn't want to play after being already used to having many weapon options before. The only reason why they took away the weapon options in the beginning was because it makes it more realistic. In real life if you escape a prison you most likely won't come across a huge armory full of any weapon you could ever want. I still hate it though.

in regards to your first statement, that was the part I was talking about on another thread. I really like that they are listening to people and making an effort to fix things for people but they really messed this one up and they need to fix it. They gave you an option to skip Coldharbor after doing it once already on a different toon which is great. But they don't give you an option to do the starter islands or go straight to the main cities? Some people wanted to go straight to the main cities and that's great for them but what about the rest of us? When they gave people an option to skip Coldharbor, why didn't they also give us an option to skip or play the start islands? Some of us really wanted to have that experience and now instead of being led there through natural progression, we have to disrupt the flow of the game by finding these starter islands on our own. I do NOT like doing that so I agree with you, they really need to fix this.

I agree he is freaking out a tad bit but he isn't freaking out THAT bad. And yes you do have the options to go to the starter islands again but some people feel as though this disrupts the natural flow of progression. Why should I have to try to find them and go back to them? I should have the choice in the very first place, like how they did with Coldharbor. Also, noobs won't have any idea that the starter islands are there. Did you not think of that? We are going to have a MASSIVE amount of people that don't even know they exist and will be thrown into a world that makes no logical sense.

What they should've done is give the newbies the location of the mainland wayshrine and put them all on the starter island as before.

Experienced players would simply go to the wayshrine to move onward while newbies can still run the starter island quests before moving on.

I don't understand. People were all complaining about the game not being free roaming enough and now that they do just drop you off and let you free roam to start everyone is complaining.

It should however, force you to do the starter island for your first character.
