Yeah, I'm waiting for the patch. I don't think it should be too much longer now; seems like it's been in public beta for a while now.

With necromancers I've always had the most fun with (skeleton) summoner builds. I love watching my skeletal minions annihilate everything in front of me as I sit in the back throwing curses and corpse explosions around.

PvM. I wanted to do summoning mostly.

I just wanted to know some skills to invest in first (haven't played in a long time).

I like to max out Raise Skeleton first (after I've learned Amplify Damage, and Corpse Explosion), while putting a few points into Skeleton Mastery every once in a while (and maxing it out after Raise Skeleton has been maxed). I also like to be sure to have learned Decrepify -- it can be really useful on bosses like Duriel.

It certainly hits me hard sometimes. Maybe if you play with its settings it'll be better.

Poison - Summon/Revive Necro with a doom zerker (For holy freeze). You will need Fcr ammys, circs, rings. Its deadly. Its bm. Its awesomeness.

Yeah. I got worried cause the game was unresponsive (but I could go to the options and exit screen). So I saved and exited, and when I couldn't join I thought I had corrupted my save game.

Usually when I am about to get a fail join I just alt + f4 and load back up D2, its faster than waiting for the fail join screen. When I play in window I just get a black screen.

Anybody know of a better grinding spot for a level 27 necro? Right now I'm just doing Mephisto, but it doesn't seem like that's working.

Also do the final bosses (for each act) level up with you? And do the shrines bonuses work for my summons as well?

Just started playing this again. Started an Assassin right away, with the plan to make her a diverse Martial Artist. I'm having trouble deciding between two claw weapons or one plus a shield. The latter would help in defense, but the former is pretty powerful when paired with the dual claw finishing move. I also don't know if the Dragon Talon (That the right name? The teleporting kick finisher) is worth getting. If so, I could go for that with a single claw and shield.

Note: That kick finisher does seem pretty lame when I look at its initial level stats, but if the boot damage actually gets pretty high with Legendary equipment, I'm all for it.

For the first question, I'm not too sure. I know killing the Council Members is great for both experience and drops, but those guys are tough.

As for the second, that's an easy no. If you level up well over what is recommended, act bosses should become a breeze.

heh, you don't need to bother with a shield when you have the weapon block skill (and it's passive so there's no need to ready the skill). It's under the shadow disciplines tab (although you'll need to be lvl 12 with at least one point in claw mastery to get it). and the teleporting finisher is the dragon's flight move and it does merit a few points when you get it

Ah. Well, the reason I asked is because I'm trying to keep Skill Point spending to a minimum so I can max these Martial skills. I'm not gonna need to max Burst of Speed or the resistance boosting ones, but those attack skills alone are going to drain me. I might not even have enough for either dual claw or shield...

Let's see (Excuse my terrible memory here):

Fire fists - 20
Ice fists - 20
Lightning Fists - 20
Pheonix Strike - 20
Burst of Speed - Ehh, 5
Resistances - Same, about 5 or so

If I go dual claw, I'll want both its finisher and that Block skill, which I can't do. If I go shield, all I'll need is Dragon Flight. I don't intend on getting the clone, either, just a henchman.

I'm surprised Flight is recommended. Probably for the teleporting ability, right? That could come in handy in many situations.

Edit: Ah, damn, I forgot Tiger Strike. That'd be good for monsters immune to a lot of crap but not physicals. However, that baby's powerful even at level 1, so that may be another 5+ pointer.

To go dual claw you need really nice claws, I think. One chaos and one magic or rare.

well that and the fact there's a 100% increase in your Attack rating and kick damage with just 1 point of skill in it. Also don't focus too much on the martial arts, as you could start to have trouble in the later acts (I know I did when I played)

Really? I thought they'd be the most help, at least with the Nightmare and Hell difficulties. All those immunities are a [censored] to deal with (That and I just love having a variety of attacks on me. Makes it feel more strategic and less grindy). If you have any other suggestions, feel free to post them.

well the only one I was using was the tiger strike move so there may be something I was doing too. Here's how I would probably do it:

5 points into tiger strike

5-10 points into claw mastery

3 points into dragon flight

5 points into cobra strike

5-10 points into weapon block

and 1 point each into each other finishing moves

And WTF!!! I updated my Nvidia drivers and now Diablo 2 runs uber fast and works fine with the automap  :bolt:

I just finished the game. Is the next playthrough akin to borderlands playthrough 2?

Also I heard people do Baal runs, but after you level up a few more times isn't he just easy to kill?
