Diagonal lines on screen

Post » Mon Mar 02, 2009 7:47 am

I'm not sure if this is a graphics glitch or what but I've noticed that in some sections, primarily the ones with heavy rain or dust, you can see small diagonal sort-of scan lines across the screen. Crysis 2 is the only game I get that with, so I know it's not the HDMI connection or anything.

I'm wondering if other people are having the same problem.

Yea dude im have the same problem. When I first started the game the lines were not there. then as i got deeper in to the campaign I started to notice the lines. An the longer i play the worst it gets. Making it hard to play the game.

Are you both running on HDTV's? are you playing in anysort of game mode? this sounds like a setup problem.. not a game issue.

Yeah I run HDMI to a 1080p TV set. Like I said, I don't think it's the settings of the TV or anything like that, since I haven't had this problem with any other games like Halo Reach or anything.

I have the exact same issue in dust/rain/fog areas - if I look closely the diagonal lines are cross hatched

Running on a 2009 Samsung 32' (ln32a330) lcd tv at 720p on an older Xbox Elite with component hd cables not hdmi.

I thought this was some sort of film grain effect but now I'm wondering.....

My tv also seems to have minimal ghosting problems at different times, but I can hardly distinguish between games' motion blur and ghosting because it's so minimal

only advice i have is to absolutely make sure your tv is in some sort or game mode while playing.

Running component cable 1080p on a Hannspree just bought the tv a month ago. I've played other games after i noticed the grain effect because i thought my tv was broke but no other game has this problem. Even better sometimes the grain effect is there then i will start a new level an it is gone only to reappear after a while.

I've put my Samsung TV into its Game Mode, but it still seems to have the scan line problem. I'm guessing it just may be a problem with a filter the game uses, considering the other replies.

After going over it a number of times, I've found a sort of solution for other people having the same problems.

When the level loads and you notice the scan lines, exit out to the menu, and select the level from the campaign button, rather than selecting "Continue" as usual. Yeah, you'll start with whatever default weapons are in the level, rather than what you may have had, but you retain all Nano levels for the suit and you remove the scan lines.

I'm really hoping this issue gets resolved with a future patch, but this is a workaround that works.

Haven't noticed anything like that on mine. I've got a 2009 32" Samsung 720p with a Monster Cable HDMI cable connection. Maybe I'm not looking hard enough.

No other game does this. It's the textures mixing. I've seen it up stairs and down by the river.
