Dialogue error

Post » Fri Nov 27, 2015 8:20 am

My character no longer speaks. Whenever I start a conversation and choose an option, it simpy skips over anything they say and goes right to the NPC's lines. This is also preventing me from giving any commands to my companions, such as picking up an object or picking a lock. I have tried everything from restarting my console to reinstalling the game itself, but nothing works and none of my saves go back far enough to be unaffected.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

i would try it on a new game. Do conversations work on a new game?

Also, how do you save?

with an Manual save, the game makes auto-saves, overriding saves etc. etc.

Voices worked with a new game, which makes me think I triggered something that caused this in my current game. I also have a much older save (20+ hours) where the voices work fine.

I normally use the quicksave feature, while using the overwrite saves every hour or so. All of my recent saves have the bug since I hadn't noticed the error until recently and I saved over my other files.

That's not the issue I have. My character's lines are being skipped entirely, subtitles or not. I'm also completely unable to issue commands, and when I get the attention of a companion nothing is actually said. It's as if my character's lines don't exist in-game anymore.
