Around two years ago, I purchased Fallout 3 GOTY from amazon at a sweet $25. (NOTE BENE: This was the time when I used my 80gb ps3 otherwise known as the PS3 'fat') I LOVED this game, and being that I am not annoyed by slightly long load times, pop-up, or grinding (well, kind of). I fell in love with it. After I beat it, twice (once as a good guy, once bad.) It became stale.
So it sat on the shelf for two years. Today, I felt a strong urge to play again. (NOTE BENE: In between the two years, my old PS3 got YLOD, and I upgraded to the 160GB PS3 slim.) Being that all of my previous data was lost. (the YLOD) I had to start a new game, and I wasn't really pissed, I enjoyed playing the game (key word being the suffix -ed). I loaded it in, the trophies were set up (Oh yeah, I also had a new PSN account). And then I was brought to the title screen.
I clicked "new game" and that is where my troubles started. After around a minute of setting up a new save file (that is a usual time for me) the loading clock froze ( you know, that clock with the minute hand that always goes in a circle) BUT the music kept playing so I knew the game didn't freeze. After 20 minutes, the loading continued. I skipped past the opening movie and came to the point where you are born. This part took around 10 minutes to do anything, this being because there was no dialogue. However I knew it wasn't frozen because the characters still made gestures and such.
Then the whole character set up thing came (this includes only everything before your 10th birthday). And it was normal.
Then the birthday part came, more like hell day. After the flash of light blinds you and every one cheers the game froze for 20 minutes. After that Amata talked, but after I chose a dialogue choice, the game stopped for around 5 minutes and then continued.
I just barely kept my sanity intact long enough when "Dad" got the message from Jonas. I then saved my game there.
I was quite pissed about the freezing so I went on these forms and did what they suggested, paused my game for thirty minutes then came back. Still, the same problem. I can't bring myself to wait during every time there is dialogue, it is SO REDICULUS. I know in the game there is A LOT of dialogue, and I haven't even left the vault yet!
Are there any solutions to my problem?
Final words: I have already tried these things: Pause the game and wait for it to install, move the ps3 to a clean spacious place, turn the music off, turn off auto save (even though I haven't gotten far enough into the game to have the game do that.), and cleaning the disk (It may have a scratch)
I know this game works because it has in the past, but I am very angry both because I wasted around 2 hours and I didn't even complete the tutorial, and also because I WANT TO PLAY THIS GAME!
If you have any suggestions of what my course of action should be, please notify me.
(Post script: and yes bro, I AM MAD)
