Diamond, our faithful steed

Post » Mon Mar 03, 2014 8:18 pm

So, I got my white horse for 100g. Spent a fair amount of time riding around though I don't know why - Diamond is only MARGINALLY faster than my normal run speed in heavy armor. Folks in light armor can easily out-run my faithful steed; not sure about medium.

I never tried feeding Diamond - perhaps that was my issue. But my goodness - she's one slow mare. So there's no mobility advantage from the white imperial horse. But it does look cool. That's about it.

Yea you can feed it once like every 20 hours. Feeding her an apple increases her speed by 1% but I think its only her sprint speed, unsure though.

I'm really looking forward to seeing other horses come launch - didn't see a player-owned horse in beta that wasn't identical to the others.

Just looking forward to a bit more variety within days/weeks of launch.

Don't get me wrong, I may well get the Imperial Digital Edition myself and may well use the horse (Cyrodil is big, horse is essential, and normal ones are expensive), but in the beta it was all the same looking player-owned horse over and over, just would like to see some other colour horses out and about. I am sure it will even out over time.

The main advantage of an unfed horse is that you get to keep all of your stamina while moving, whereas sprinters on foot will not have their stamina to use for combat when they suddenly need it.

This can be the difference between life or death in Cyrodiil when you run into a ganker that's waiting for you in the bush.

Hehe your name reminds me to the Zelda games. And yes I would like to have a black horse but the only back horse costs 42k, It would be nice if they allowed us to choose between different looking horses for the same price too. I believe that they said that new mounts will come over time. By those mounts I believe they mean Steeds.

to you spent and emptied your stamina? Boost speeds can catch a mount in WoW heck a rogue can't be 10% faster than a mount there.

NOOOOO!

I have never played Zelda.

Epona is a Celtic/Gallic goddess of the harvest (often depicted with a horse or foal) dating back before Roman times, but incorporated in some locales by Romans also.

I took my name from that (I am an archaeologist), and the name in Zelda was also taken from that.

It is not a name from Zelda. It's like suggesting that the cover version of a song is the original - Epona pre-dated Zelda by something like 2000 years at least.

Yeah, the horses are too slow. (medium users kept up with me) 250s for an apple is kind of excessive especially when it only grants a 1% boost. You're better off taking the inventory or stamina boosts.

I do believe that a higher price for a horse doesn't mean a better horse ..it will simply look different. I don't understand that one. Speed should start at +20% and the mount should get better as the price goes up.

I more or less assume that there's a maximum to the number of improvements you can make to a horse. The more expensive horses have higher base stats, so they have a greater potential than the cheaper horses.

Eventually, you might be able to make the expensive horses +50% speed whereas the cheap ones can only reach +40%.

Are you saying you can train the horse and make it better? If that's true I like it, but I guess I missed that option

That's what the apple does. Apple x10 = +10% speed :)

Nope. Permanently.

The timer just shows when you can upgrade the horse again.

20 hours to feed again. Each feeding will increase its level by 1 and the corresponding stat by one. People said you can upgrade it 50 times but if the cap is level 50 for horse too (which everything is) then its only 49 stat point for increase.

So you cannot burn all your money to upgrade a horse.

Every 20 hours you can feed it and upgrade a stat of your choice.

The only thing I wish is that I can Max it stats and make it as good as any other horses with time. I've bought the imperial edition better give me if only just the advantage of having it at 100gp. But no disavantage to someone who bought his at 42k

You can switch between using different horses in your stables.

A logical way to use your imperial edition horse would be to go all out on bag space upgrades for it and use it for PvE and gathering crafting materials, then pick up a 42k horse later on which you upgrade with speed or stamina, whichever you prefer for Cyrodiil (you don't really need the extra speed elsewhere because of the abundance of wayshrines)

The fastest way to get around is to cast Rapid Maneuver, jump on your horse, sprint until the buff runs out, then hop off and re-buff. Rinse and repeat. You could put a LOT of distance between yourself and the poor saps with no mount at all, even though it was "just" a 15% increase.

-Travail.
