Did anyone become a vampire because they wanted to?

I've avoided it so far. Just wondering if you became a vampire by choice.

I would never let that happen to my character. As I′ve said so many times, if I want to play as a vampire I′ll play http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/9/96/Vampire_-_The_Masquerade_%E2%80%93_Bloodlines_Coverart.png

Indeed yes I have become one by choice. Kind of boring, though kind of fun.

I did it with one character but then I got bored of him and I never really thought of it again.

Bloodlines is awesome. :goodjob:

As for me, Morwen accepted Vicente's offer. Mainly because she wanted to become more powerful. Luckily for her I used my powers of modding to prevent vampirism from uglifying her pretty face.

Yes, my main character was a vampire for several months before I decided that enough was enough.

Yes. I had a dark elf witch character who never did any quests. She was supposed to be insane/unable to understand the typical humanoid conversation. When she got infected in some vampire's fort, I RP'd it as she didn't know she was diseased.

Was really psyched about becoming a vamp, because of all the special powers, plus the roleplay would really kick in after her infection. But after the first blood-drinking, i thought "wow, kinda lame". Where's the gore? Where's the struggling?

If I remember correct, all that happens (vanilla game, mind you ) is
Spoiler
you click on the NPC's body, and you're done with it.
Oy. I was expecting so much more....

Plus, Luci Pheria actually looked more gruesome with her original looks (non-vamp) as I created her. After she became a vamp, it was like she looked like an ugly man, no longer like wicked witch. :(

I never NOT been a vampire. I hate humans or any other race in ES unless they are werewolves or vampires.

I imagine most people who do let the disease take hold do so on purpose. It's so easy to get rid of once you are bitten.

My decrepit avatar became a vampire only briefly and from necessity. He did so 1) in order to infiltrate a vampiric stronghold intent on thwarting the cult's destructive agenda, and 2) because he knew going in that should he prove successful the curse would be removed ere innocents were harmed.

That excepted, he has never been plagued by the disease and would not willingly choose to be so afflicted.

In general, I simply dislike deliberately harming innocents either physically or financially. Heck, out of many thousands of kills on my record, including several thousand humanoid kills, my avatar has a grand total of 26 assaults and one murder. We no longer recall what led to the latter. Some fluke no doubt. Certainly nothing intentional. As to assaults, the number would actually be a bit lower had I not had a brain-fart while clearing bandits -- or was it necros? -- from a cave and used a bow on them while concealed. Why such action against known criminals is considered assault is beyond me, but there you have it.

An aside. I recall my Daggerfall avatar's stint as a werebear. I hated that. I nearly abandoned the game then and there. Luckily, research unearthed a rather roundabout but effective solution. A bit messy and not quite honorable, but a lesser of evils by far. It offered good role-play opportunities to boot.
