So, did anyone buy the Lockpicking perks?

I think the answer is obvious but whatever.

That's a funny one. Lockpicking is really a knack you pick up as a player. Its not something your character needs to improve all that much. Lockpicks are cheap as mud and you can't break a lock, so putting perk points into it to make it slightly easier seems like a waste.

Incredible waste when you've got a limited amount of them. A master lock can be picked with under 5 lockpicks usually, and lockpicks are a dime a dozen. Plus, once you get the unbreakable lockpick perk, it renders the others worthless.

Or you could just keep the skeleton like me. The reward isn't worth giving it up.

Lockpicking needs to be axed and replaced by something else. It would be fine if the minigame was hard, but it's not.

Most perks should be removed, some merged with sneak, others with pickpocket or integrated into the game in other ways (apparel and such things).

yep, I did, i hate this mini game, i hated it it fallout and now in skyrim, I took the lock picks
just so I did not have to sit there breaking 10-15 picks just to open a master level lock, its
so boring (IMHO).

They should just make it so that when you go to pick a lock, it takes a certain amount of time based on your skill. No stupid minigames you have to do again and again.
The catch, of course, would be that while you're picking locks somebody might catch you if you take too long.

Maxxed the skill, didnt spend a single perk on it though since lockpicks are so common and there are no consequences for failing to pick a lock. I honestly think they should of either put in a chance to jam locks on a failure or just rolled pick pocketing and lock picking together and added an acrobatics/athletics tree for the last thief style skill.

I took several of the perks (up to "better loot in chests"), but I didn't max it out.

But, then, I didn't max out the perks on most of the skills I used. Smithing, yeah - because you need the perks to unlock each type of armor. But, for example, my primary combat skills? Light Armor, One-handed, and Block? Nah, didn't max those out at all. They each ended up (with my character in the mid 50's) with around 6-8 perks each. The upper perks in some of those trees just didn't seem all that compelling.

(Last time I wrote down what perks I'd picked, I had perks in 10 different skills. Block was the most with 8 perks, Sneak and Resto were the least with 1 & 3.)

lockpicking should just be combined with pick pocketing. can't have TES without lock picking, or pick pocketing, but both perk trees have some substandard perks. so just mix them.

pickpocket is so much better. Stealing a piece of jewlery and some gold from some random dude will fetch you more than most containers.

I love the perk where the lock pick starts near the area where you unlock it. It's usually right on

I think if you make the lockpick minigame harder, like resetting the correct spot after every lockpick break, and also putting better treasure in locked chests, it would make the skill tree more valuable.

I like treasure hunter and golden touch (or whatever it's called). I don't see what everyone's problem with the perks are. The main arguments seem to be with the minigame itself, which kind of has nothing to do with the perks, and the fact that one you get the unbreakable lock pick perk the others become superfluous. But to even get that you need 100 skill and five prerequisite perks, so obviously you have to work on it and invest in it, so I don't get how the polls are so toward no.

Remember how in Oblivion lockpicks were EXTREMELY rare so if you ran out you were screwed? (if you didn't have any open lock magic that is).

Well gee, in this game all you have to do is kill five or so bandits and you'll eventually have 20 more lockpicks. That, or go to town and buy all the lockpicks every trader has. Of course I never even had to buy lockpicks because my supply never went below 60.

Damn do I miss the days of gaming where things were hard and real challenges were presented to you.

Treasure Hunter and Golden Touch are the only good ones, but thats 5 perks total which I'd rather spend elsewhere.

Everybody pretty much has the same perks except for minor differences if they are the type would typically have preferred to enjoy Skyrim for awhile.

Combine Lockpicking/Pickpocketing into Larceny, bring back an Acrobatics/Athletics type tree that lets me climb sheer surfaces and jump on water and other crazy stuff like that.
