- I did hope for spears...It's not essential to the game, of course, but it does add a new feeling to the combat, more diversity and new ways of attacking and defending.

- I'm also really hoping for mounts (horses). I hope you'll be able to pull them off in a great way. They do add a nice feeling to the game, that I'd otherwise miss a bit, I think.

- I'm not a big fan of HUD, but the way Bethesda has done it seems better than the classic "HUD bars visible all the time". In any case, I'll mod the HUD out completely, forever; and add some health & stamina indicator effects instead... like blur, panting sounds, heartbeat sounds when health/stamina is low.

- I've also hoped for a bigger world than Oblivion's. Hopefully it will feel bigger though, having big mountains and more unique environments :)

- I wish they had mentioned something about a transportation system a la Morrowind. :(

- Everything else that I heard (and known from before) is great. While there are a few things I'm moderately unhappy about, OVERALL it's going to be a truly amazing game. Or... rather a truly amazing world. To label Skyrim as a game wouldn't feel right; it's more of a world of its own :D
Go Bethesda! :foodndrink:

280 :D

Including ranks. Still, assuming what is probably the worst case scenario (5 ranks per perk), we still have 56 unique perks. I doubt that's the case, but just keep it in mind.

Todd: "I just made a turkey and swiss sammich, mmmm."

Random follower: Did you add mustard? If not, why?

Todd: [Enter incredibly convincing, reassuring Todd comment here]

Random follower: I... I just pre-ordered 5 copies of Skyrim... maybe 10, I don't know it was all a blur...

Other Random follower: No mustard!? Oh god, Skyrim is ruined, I have to, I have to complain about this on the forums...

If they can pull off dragons, they can pull off horses... And they have Havok Behavior to help them, it shouldn't be too difficult.

Am I the only one that would love to see this on a daily basis?

Besides that, Todd already has a Facebook. And I'm sure comments from even his 90-something friends on there must be somewhat annoying to read.

And before you ask, no I'm not giving you the link to his Facebook. He wouldn't add you anyway.

I hope the horse don't drive like tanks this time ^^.

And 280 perks? That's more than fallout 3 and NV combined.

In fact, it may be the double of fallout 3 and NV combined (dont know the exact numbers)

Thats a damn lot of perks.

All of that info sounds great. Especially the 240 perks! :bonk:

280 perks actually :D , but I think it's important to remember that he says "including ranks", so some perks are counted more than once because they can be upgraded.

Like what I'm seeing. 280 perks means a lot of difference between characters, the whole perk system means that when I play Skyrim, I'll just have to forget what I know about the other games. I won't know what to expect. It'll be new. The more I think about that, the more I like it. Sounds like there will be a lot of content, good character customization, decent story. Sound like we'll still have the freedom of the other games. Oh, and thank the Nine for the new face creation.

Not sure where I got that from then, odd. Though he did say at 5:50, "We tend to each time start over and we want to find weapon types with this game that really yield gameplay," so that's probably what I was thinking of. In that case, my point still stands that if they really think spears aren't worthy of a skill, then they must have had a good reason for it. But yeah, spears can still be added, they just wont have a skill associated with them is all.

I don't see any reason why spears are not worthy weapons to not have in Skyrim.

Really no good reason why they couldn't be implemented.

even if some perks a ranked, thats still a huge number. And the fact that you cant select them all even if you max all your skills to 100, I love this.

I like the Radiant Story stuff in the example. I can see it being possible to entirely randomize certain quests so you don't completely "mine out" a town.

Hopefully they consider this.

Permanent compass confirmed it seems.

Yep. And it's in the top part of the screen this time. Pretty awkward if you ask me.

Anyways, I'm sure it'll be one of the first things modded out. Or at least the magical "GO THE [censored] OVER HERE" arrows will be.

Wonderful podcast. :) I very much enjoyed the detail he was willing to offer, and it always gets me pumped for Skyrim to hear him speak about it!

I think the only cruel part of the podcast was playing the music before and after - because now all I can think of, "I want to buy the soundtrack NOW!!"

This game is going to rock!

Another thing that is worth taking note of.

When he talks about how Radiant Story works, if a dynamically quest is made, a quest for example involving a dungeon, it (the radiant story) can pick a dungeon which has a higher level than you, if it feels you need a challenge.

I feel this Radiant Story is gonna turn out like some sort of cool AI Game Master :D....possibly a cruel cynical cold no-feelings game master which sends you on suicide mission to save your friends daughters run away bunny rabbit.

The one thing that's extremely clear in the podcast is that the people who have been saying, "Stop asking for things; the game is done already" are wrong. It looks like it's still in process, the main storyline(s) are all that's set along with the basic programming and graphics work. At this point they're still tweaking, and I'm willing to bet, watching various boards for what people are saying.

Other than that I understood that: Some kind of shape changing is being considered but is still in process; there will be companions but who or how many is still up in the air; weapons work the way I suspected--one or two handed--no other type specializations so at this point they could add spears or Uzis if they have the time; Radiant Storytelling is mostly of concern to programmers and maybe modders; that the story sounds pretty mythic; and that they're having a lot of fun watching us react.
