DiD Competition Discussion, Trash talk and non-sense part 9

Post » Sat Jun 04, 2016 5:30 am

Rules:

- No Fortify/Restoration looping.

- No forbidden mods (That give the player an advantage) (Please PM me your mod list).

- No reloading previous saves even if character did not die (unless a glitch occurred) (PM me if your character died to a glitch. You should also describe the glitch the best way possible).

- No map based fast travel.

- Once in Helgen Keep, DiD rules apply.

- No follower/trainer exploit.

- Difficulty must be higher then Adept.
- You have to update at least once every 3 days.

- You must ALWAYS level up (meaning that you, once you receive a level, you must use the perk right away).

- You may restart your game (right after you leave Helgen Keep) or create another character after you die. (It goes like: Human, Zombie, Wraith, Ghost, Shade, Whisp [Every time you die, you can go down one difficulty level, the lowest being adept].)

- The player highest score is the only one that counts for the round, meaning someone that has become a Wraith may win over a Human, if their score is high enough.

- You may not 'skill spam'! Doing so will remove you automatically from the competition.

(More will be added after voting.)

The competition will end after 3 weeks (Or until everyone is done). You can only play for 40 hours!

Don't forget to vote!

If you have more ideas, please make a post about them!

(Also, tell me if I forgot something.)

Points

Points for each bandit: 10

Points for each bandit stronghold/fort/cave cleared: 100 (You'll have to, most likely, do the same ones over again, and, since they'll be riddled with bandits, they count as a 'new' fort/cave/stronghold cleared.)

Points for killing an innocent traveller: -100

(Silverhands and other factions alike it do NOT count as bandits, nor do they count as innocents, so killing them doesn't matter.)

(Hired thugs do not count as bandits as well, since they're mercenaries. They also don't count as innocent.)

Difficulty multiplier:

Legendary: 1.25

Master: 1

Expert: 0.75

Adept: 0.5

Addendum for the rules: One must not sit on their level ups, and cruise around at level one. That caused an issue in round XII...

Hi BA :)

Difficulty multipliers?

Step downs for restarters? ( unless its one life only play)

This is how we thrashed those rules for last time.....

Everyone starts as a "human" and your level of choice (in this case above adept)

Die once...you can restart as a zombie and must drop a difficulty level if possible

Die again..you can restart as a wraith and must drop another difficulty level if possible

Die again..you can restart as a ghost and must drop another difficulty level if possible

Thats as far as we an go with this Expert level bottom tier for this Round

But so you know....we intend to continue the drop down restarts normally by adding.....

Shade

Whisp

The idea is that a Legendary player at the begining, who keeps dying will after five deaths end up on novice play

This ties in nicely with the difficulty multipliers thus making it easier for those who have not coped well on high difficulties to keep on playing rather than having to sit it out.....but at the same time reducing the reward for getting an easier play through....

Difficulty multipliers....can be adjusted for each round if felt necessary

Legendary...1.75

Master..........1.50

Expert...........1.25

Adept............1.00

Apprentice.....0.75

Novice............0.50

Aerial was looking to write all of this into the basic framework of Round Rules so we would have no confusions.

With the caveat of course that anything can be adjusted by consensus vote.

Regards

Rick

The survivor in me dislikes the step downs. It is DiD, after all....

Ah, yes, I forgot about that restarting thing! Damn... Gonna add it now!

I feel like the difficulty multipliers are good. Should I edit them?

Edit: I know why I didn't have it added! This was a scrap post (that I had saved on my computer) I had long before the restarting thing appeared!

It's basically restarting the character from Helgen keep, so you won't have any progress done, really. After one dies, one must restart/create another character.

Kane...yep each to their own :)

But just so you know

In many rounds we had without that "system"

People who were knocked out by a 'silliness' and still really wanted to join in....had to sit it out in the watchers booth for weeks and gradually got disaffected....the step down system was devised to keep the keen (but unlucky) players enthusiastic about competitions.

Good point. I'd hate to be in that position. I can deal with it, lol. :teehee:

BA.....Imo it is fine with your multipliers for THIS round.....clearly my longer list was for the "general rules" :)

Plus don't forget the "Rule" that a players HIGHEST score for the competition is the one that counts for ranking

Meaning a restarter may get a higher score with the longer lived lower difficulty char.....but they deserve it because they had to do so much more to bring their score up!

That should be a "General Rule" along with the step downs and multipliers ( unless we need a vote on it, but it suits most folk)

Ah yes, thanks again, Rick! I'll add it right away!

Edit: I keep forgetting to add things... *Sigh* Thank you guys for helping me out.

BA...minor technicality

Your multipliers cater for difficulties down to and including adept

But we can not use adept

Just need rationalising to avoid confusion :)

BA....You may wish to consider at you discretion.....

We started a rule for "ONE single allowable restart with NO penalty or drop down necessary for the under level tens"

personally.....I do not like it......but it would be unfair or biased if I did not raise it

Your call sir....or vote....or by mass hysteria / Riot :P

I'm a bit slow today (well, everyday, really), so can you explain what you mean?

Nah, I think that, if you die, you should restart no matter what.

Adept is the lowest drop-down difficulty. :whisper:

Adept is the lowest drop-down difficulty. :whisper:

Oh so that was what Rick was talking about? Oh... Yeah, adept is the lowest difficulty you can play on.

Ok....so for this round....as I understand it the lowest starting difficulty is EXPERT but upon death(s) a lowest difficulty of Adept may be reached.

Ok...another techy typo......in the rules in yellow

Line 13.....between Wraith and Shade.....insert Ghost

Line 16 amend "a human" to read "over a human"

The rules look good to me, MrBA. Even the fine print. Pay no attention to Rick and his magnifying glass.

Full-scale anti-bandit blow-out. :)

My available play time tends to be a bit unpredictable, so I can't plan on having the full 40 hours; I may start on Master or Expert to avoid some low-level grinding.

Rick is going to win this one anyway. He has the Contessa, and we all know what she does to bandits! :D (I figure that it's time to start the "trash talk and nonsense" around here. ;) )

To be clear.

100 points for bandit fort/ stronghold/cave

But presumably NOT CAMPS which number only from two to five typically

Nonono, you can play on adept even when you're starting!

Gah Rick! You're killing me (gonna edit it, wait a sec)!

Thanks Glargg!

I made it 40 hours over 3 weeks so it would be more accessible for everyone. Even if you're not going to play the full 40 hours, it's fine! Just have fun!

Rick, I meant everything that can be marked on maps (for example, forts, strongholds and caves) which, to be honest, I doubt the camps get marked (I haven't played for so long I forgot...).

YES Glargg! Thank you!

Camps like the one containing TM 1 near the Guardian Stones are unmarked.

But I thought camps weren't marked on the map? Like, the one with tents and campfire.
