DiD Competition Round 8 (unrestricted)

Post » Sat Oct 31, 2015 4:01 pm

The competition has officially begun! It started at 1800hrs Fri 30th October (Portugal UTC)

Post your characters name, race and gender or you won't be entered in the competition! You cannot enter this competition after November 7th !
Do it like this:
(Your name)
(Char's name)
(Race)
(six)

Note: the starting difficulty for this Round is LEGENDARY

(Start date/time set originally by Mr.BA in post 164 of Discussion thread 3)

So, here is the scoring system.....

Quests completed = 5 points each
Misc objectives completed = 1 point each
Words of power unlocked = 10 points each
Level x 2
Dragon priest masks obtained x 15 (Including Miraak's mask)
Main quest, Dawnguard, Dragonborn = 40 points each
Companions, College, Civil War, Thieves Guild, Dark Brotherhood questlines = 25 points

DiD competition rules

General Rules
- No Fortify/Restoration looping
- No forbidden mods (That give players advantage) (If you are new to this, send Mr.BA your mod list)
- No reloading previous saves even if character did not die (unless a glitch occurred)
- No map based fast travel.....carriages are ok
- Once in Helgen Keep, DiD rules apply (You must go through the cart cutscene!)
- No follower/trainer exploit
- Companions limited to one companion and a dog
(Quest companions like Serana and Barabus have to be taken directly to their quest
destination with minimal side trips.)
- Update at least once every 3 days (If you can)
-If a Player's character dies, he may raise a new character (to be known as a zombie?) and if that character dies a new character may be raised (a wraith?), then ghost and so on. At the competitions' end, the highest character score attained will determine the player's position at the finish line.

A player raised from the dead to continue competing, May elect to drop a difficulty level at each resurrection. This is Dynamic Difficulty, making game play easier, but with the following penalties

Legendary score x 1.25
Master score x 1.0
Expert score x 0.75
Adept score x 0.5
Apprentice x 0.25
Novice = no score)

A player raised from the dead may alternatively continue to compete on Legendary to benefit from the maximal score multiplier, but they will still be known as a Zombie, wraith or ghost etc.

RIP Spritely: She bravely ducked out from behind a corner to attack a Stormcloak from behind. Alas the torturer couldn't hold aggro...

restarting again on Legendary (do we have to go through the whole wagon ride every time?)

Thanks Rick - I'll use the autosave when you first pop-in

RIP Spritely... Lost to Stormcloaks deep in Helgen Keep (after bravely advancing to Level 2).

We'll call this one Spritely III (still on Legendary - I WILL make it to Riverwood, dammit!)

Hmm, I may have to give this a shot. Never tried any difficulty higher than Adept...

Any rules on mods? Goals? Things our characters ought to do? Builds?

PM MR Battleaxe your mod list, he does the culling. But in general anything that gives the PC an advantage over the NPC'S isn't allowed. Things like "no falmer arrows" or "you are not the Dragonborn " "awakened magicka"...

I'll try and dig up the general rules and have Rick copy paste them... when I get home, I can't do that from my phone.

What your character does or the build you choose is unrestricted this round.

The only 'fast travel' allowed is horses and carriages, unless that was changed. If you look around the last couple of pages of the DID talk thread (part 3) you should find the scoring system. Pretty simple, basically points for how many quests you do and how many levels you gain.

Edit: and only one follower + a dog. I remember that one.

Sprite III strode bravely into Riverwood, carrying all the cabbages and cast iron cookware she could salvage on her way out of Helgen. Alvor the blacksmith seems a decent enough chap, along with the sweet girl in the Riverwood Trader. Might be a nice place to call home for a while.

giggles...............hello every one  .............this one is late :whistling: ... ..sorry but was at the festival of Samhain (pronounced sow-in).

This ones good friends the Celts, celebrate their new year on November 1. This day marks the end of summer and the harvest and the beginning of the dark, cold winter, a time of year that is often associated with human death. Celts believed that on the night before the new year October 21st, the boundary between the worlds of the living and the dead became blurred, it was believed that the ghosts of the dead returned to earth...........giggles..............puts on a pumpkin head................ trick-or-treate

I've got Mod Organizer; here is one of the profiles I'd consider using:

Spoiler

SKSE

SKYUI

iHud

Enhanced Lights and FX

Realistic Nights

Immersive NPC in the Dark

Subliminal Traps

Traps Make Noise

The Notice Board

VioLens

Trade and Barter (using harsh settings)

Dragon Priest Mask Journal

Enhanced Skyrim Factions - The Companions

Warburgs 3D Paper World Map

Frostfall (maybe not)

iNeed (probably not)

Alternate Start (may use the arrival by ship, shipwreck, left for dead, or visiting an inn start)

The only mods on that list that seem problematic to me would be Alternate Start (depending on the start), Trade and Barter (if I were trying to make the economy easier, which I'm not), and VioLens. With VioLens, I always check the "no kill-cams on the player" option, since I hate getting kill-cammed. Is that legal?

It may be moot anyway, since I'll likely be doing some scrawny mage who doesn't want to get anywhere near a bad guy in the first place.

Start time day 30, 1800 London time... :twirl:

The multiplier for the different difficulties is moot this round...as it's a Legendary round... or at least that is the way I understood it...

Rick you may be able to just take off the spoiler tag's... It was the only way I could get it to work....

I'm not as good as Mr BA with the mod's but I see nothing that rings a bell... with AS-LaL... for the competition you have to use the "vanilla" start., for regular DiD any start would be fine...

hello Sir JaberkatysHusband

this one would recommend you don't use Frostfall & the other mods you are using to make the game more difficult or even worse HARDER.........

these mods are VERY UNFAIR :verymad: since they will help you get killed  much easier & much faster than every one else!!!......... giggles

just kidding.............. but dose recommends deselecting them from this round.................besides Legendary Difficulty with ONE LIFE beats all these MODS put together

PS good luck

As Areial said, you have to use the "Vanilla" start option in Live Another Life, under the rules. You have to go through the whole Helgen start, including the cart ride.

You might want to get rid of the Enhanced Companions thing, because I think it makes it harder for you to complete that quest line, and the scoring is all about completions. (I don't tend to do the Companions quest anyway. :) )

It does, Enhanced Companions makes it so that you have to do XX amount of radiant quest's before moving on to the next "main" quest. I have it installed along with Not so Fast Main quest and Not so Fast CoW. So yes it does make it hard to complete the quest-line and their for get the points for a finished quest-line. ( I guess I should toggle them off also...lol)

I'm afraid I am not as good at pointing those things out as Mr BA.

After a record-breaking buggy start (three tries to get the cart all the way into Helgen without flipping, once more because everyone got stuck in a porch when they got out of the wagon, and even in the final attempt that worked Ralof got lost inside the keep), One-Eyed Willem got some work done. He’s built up a decent supply of materials and has secured a chest of drawers in Jorrvaskr to store them for the moment. Amren and Farkas have both sent him to the same bandit hideout, so he’s planning a light day tomorrow.

Willem is mixing light and heavy armor because that’s how he likes it. The guards keep telling him he looks like a brigand. Admittedly his hat has horns. I tried to make him be sneaky but he is not going for it. At least he has the sense to circle when he fights. Here is a picture of him http://i.imgur.com/OjCagqC.png.

He has enough bank to buy Fast Healing before he sets out on his job in the morning. I suspect he could also buy Conjure Familiar. I hope he has the sense to try them out before he’s in a fight and see if he can even cast them.

Spritely is resting at Riverwood after cutting some lumber. She has bravely gone about, hiding in the shadows gathering herbs. Killed one wannabe-witch (happy samhein?) [what happened to the happy covens from Iliac Bay with the dancing naked ladies and chanting men?] and has brewed some potions. Disenchanted some ugly robes. Almost died to a pit wolf but managed to gulp down most of the potions she made.

Skill wise focusing on Stealth, Archery, Speech, and Alchemy

Quests done: 2, Misc objectives: 13, Main Quests: 1 (level 5)

Nice... though buggy start.

Akemmi made it to Riverwood and I had to shut down my PC due to lightning... I'm on my chrome book, not plugged in. ( I do have surge protectors, but I've never really trusted them. ) The Satellite keeps loosing signal so the hubby finally unplugged the TV. Early night...
