DiD competition Round XII- Dawnguard part 2

Post » Wed May 11, 2016 8:42 am

The Aetherium forge and Peryites quest are both on this rounds to do list, I've been playing pretty regularly for the past 2+ years but there are still some things is have yet to do. I haven't done the Dark Brotherhood quest line or the Empire aide of the CW. Started both and deleted the characters soon afterward. I've never fought Karataag or the ebony warrior either.

Thanks Rafer! :) I think Tal would have been a contender, he hadn't actually died, but I became fatigued with the grind up on legendary. Once he reached level 26 he was clearing bandit caves and the like fairly easily, but I just couldn't continue with the grind up necessary for the DG questline. I think the only monster that no one has been able to combat is the RNG monster. I mean, being trapped by followers so you can't move, stuck in terrain and in my case the spawning of mobs that just happen to "come around the corner" during a fight with 2 casters (I had zero magic resist yet on Frigus). So I would agree, even those not on Legendary are subject to the evilest daedra from Oblivion, the RNG Monster (personally I think it's just Sheo messin' with me!). :bonk:

Inuksuk tore through Dimhollow. He was able to one shot most of the low level vamps with just a firebolt spell (including one perk in augmented flames). Serana has been returned, Gunmar has been recruited and Inuksuk is headed to the Reach.

Inuksuk has reached Level 25. He just finished an unpleasant task for a slimy Daedric Prince and now has Spellbreaker.

4 DG quests completed. Spring is sending him to Solstheim to fetch some Dwemer schematics. Inuksuk may take his time getting around to that. Inuksuk will probably track down the Moth Priest first although there are some nice baubles he could make use of. Maybe something will "ignite" his interest in a trip over there.

Stats:

Spoiler

AR 448 - legendary with Spellbreaker

Heavy Armor 53

One handed 56

Block 50

Restoration 40

Destruction 41

Smithing 79

One point in Conjuration, still one buffer

Gear (from memory)

Spoiler

Most of the Armor was bought, except for the shields. Swords were crafted. Jewelry looted.

Dwarven helm of eminent destruction

Dwarven Armor of eminent destruction

Dwarven gauntlets of wielding

Dwarven boots of stamina

Dwarven shield of eminent blocking rotating with Spellbreaker

Unenchanted Dwarven Swords

Ring of eminent destruction (thanks Orchendor)

Necklace of health

Speaking of the RNG monster, since we are not playing with enchanting as a skill it's only fair that I find not one, but two weapons with the Banish enchantment while in Btharmdamz.

Well, I said in a previous post that I would probably complete the DG "unless something really stupid happens."

Well, something really stupid happened.

Tuvahdin arrived back at Fort Dawnguard after taking Serana home. The scripted vampire attack was on, and a vampire attacked her directly. As she was defending herself, a Dawnguard jumped in the way of her mace, and died. The whole Dawnguard faction went aggro, and wouldn't accept her yield. She had to run away (or fight.)

Since, at this point, it is impossible to continue the competition objective, I am withdrawing.

Tuvahdin is at level 13, about 16 hours in. Since I am already at Novice, there is no lower difficulty to drop down to for a restart, so I guess I am out.

Ordinarily, in roleplaying, I would accept the consequence of this event, and go on with other parts of the game. But it seems pointless here, since it won't count for anything.

Good luck to everybody still in it.

Glargg... I'll update the stat's, but if you want to I don't think anyone would object to a re-start at Novice.... You can't go lower, so the only thing you can do is a re-start.

I think I won't. The gameplay at novice is actually too easy, and I was getting bored. At this point, I'm something over 40 hours invested in this, and I'm running out of free time for the game. I think I'll just go back to my regular DiD character, Ruta Menthri, whose game I suspended to do this.

It's one of the risks of playing at too low of a difficulty. It's really easy to one-hit-kill somebody you didn't intend to. Very tricky to play at Novice with followers or allies.

As it happens, I'm restarting my "Witchhunter" character, Ruta Menthri, in the regular DiD thread. Since Ruta was created to do the Dawnguard quest line, I will be continuing to play "in parallel" with you guys. :)

Of course, Ruta has Sneak. Conjuration. Archery. Enchanted Elven Armor. And a nice big crossbow.

I've finished a few DG quests and have some score keeping observations:

- side quests are counted as DG quests. These are the non-radiant quests, in my case Dwemer Schematics. In our competition they are worth different points. That's easy enough to adjust for.

- radiant quests are misc objectives, so make sure you keep track of those.

Tyler is at Fort Dawnguard where he will be doing a little smithing to improve Belrands Armor and Crossbow... then He will be off to see a Moth Priest ( Leaving Serana if I can... I think it's still possible at this point )

Yeah, I think the last time it's possible is after the Moth Priest. You can go off to Winterhold/Blackreach on your own, while Serana goes off to the castle, and you can meet her there for the Soul Cairn business.

Good...I'd much rather Belrand... He's a much better companion...his wolf conjure may not be worth much, but it's better than resurrected bunnies.

Serana's a wonder. She resurrected a horker on one of my recent playings. It wouldn't surprise me to see a slaughterfish flopping along behind us. :D

How to motivate the aristocracy!

Spoiler
The Contessa dismounts her favourite ride with a wicked smile. The stable hand wishes she would go easier with her crop, but he's not gonna risk incurring her displeasure, besides he'll be fine in a week or so! She enters through the side door in the east wing, muddying the polished wood flooring to give the cleaner something to do.

Jenkins, faithful and efficient stands in the drawring room. A perfectly warmed Cognac in one hand and her prepared cigar in the other. Contessa Adella sweeps into the room with perfect majesty and relieves him of both.

"You may go Jenkins. See that I am not disturbed"

He gives the slightest of respectful nods closing the tall leather and wood panelled doors quietly behind him.

Adella walks across the high ceilinged ornate room trailing curling smoke in her wake and stands at one of the tall georgian paned windows. She stares impassively across the manicured lawns, huge stone fountain and lichen covered statuettes.

A hint of her wicked one sided smile shows as a little ash falls to the window sill.....a sufficient test for the cleaning staff.

The Contessa is bord.

She speaks out loud as if there were someone in the room with her.

"Rick darling, I love this place I really do" Her cigar gestures to the magnificent wooded acres beyond. "But sweetie I so need to get out for a while. I need something meaningful to do."

Rick sounds a little hurt. "Adella, you are dragonborn. There is a huge amount to be done"

Adella pouts playfully. "Oh sweetie you will think me so ungrateful, and I really am not, but I need something...... Different !"

Rick thinks for a few moments "Weeeell. If you don't mind the considerable risk my love, there is the 'Dawnguard Competition' but I have to warn you that survival of your on-screen likeness is, um'.....unlikely."

Adella becomes very animated. "Oh darling, that sounds wonderfully exciting.....I simply must have a go"

Rick wished she could see his smile. "Very well Contessa. I took the liberty of pre-enrolling you."

"Oh! That was somewhat forward of you sweetie, but well planned in the event."

Rick has an idea. "Contessa. Your current level of sentients is good. At least equalling the best of most RP character capabilities. Even in your pre-emergent state I could probably translate your emotional intentions at a pinch......with a bit of licence, give you a real competition input of your own in our forum."

"I don't know sweetie......your peers may think me already emergent.....expect too much of me"

Rick settles her mind. "No no Contessa....I will translate for you only in this competition thread, and not excessively. It will be fun"

Adella broke into a beaming smile "Very well Rick. Then it is settled."

She pulls the bell cord and strides from the drawring room. "Jenkins have the car brought around. Your Contessa is travelling to Helgen"
