Er.... a somewhat sideways reference to ColdHarbour? [vide Frigus Shipus Dockus - but it really should be Frigius....]

Small update on Frigus. He's only played 1 hour 29 minutes on Expert and has far better luck than any other competition character I've had. The moons must be in alignment or sumpin'. When he got to Riverwood Gerdur gave him a ring of the squire (he's going light armor so woot!). Then his first day in Whiterun while going around the city mining he runs into the Revelers and gets a very nice charmed necklace. Right after seeing them he's heading up to look along the city wall and the Fugitive runs up and hands him an Axe of Embers (he gave back to the owner as he's using maces). That's just about as lucky as it gets for my characters and now I'm just waiting for ol' Sheo to drop the shoe and hit me with something out of the blue!

Frigus is now Level 3 with a point in smithing and a point in one handed.

And aye, it is Cold Harbor reference. I re-looked up the Latin on the translator I used and it still comes out Frigus without the extra "I". Kinda wish I'd used it by accident as it sounds better! :)

Wow, there is some true serendipity going on there for you! Way cool - and "today's" Latin/Italian is seriously different from what I learned 50 plus years back, no worries!

New thread, woo!

Here's a letter from Igraine, level 5. Perk in One-Handed, two in Restoration, and argh I can't remember. Oh! Smithing. Gotta keep those boots polished. Her AR was I believe 25 when she met Mirmulnir. :D

Spoiler

My dear Augustine,

I have killed my first daedric abomination!! It was a flame atronach, just like they showed us in the books! Its fire was considerably hotter than I imagined, but when my magicka ran out I charged it with my frost-charmed draugr axe in spite of the burning. Oh how I will be pleased to receive my official Mace of Stendarr’s Mercy when I am inducted as a Vigilant so that I may use it to smite some more of them!

The conjuror who summoned the daedric creature was an Altmer. Her robe looked better than mine, but sadly it was quite ruined in the fight. The witch used arcane lightning against me, so I was forced to hack her to death like some savage. Those Altmeri people contain a lot of blood.

Perhaps you will hear of it before you read this letter, but there was another dragon attack in Whiterun Hold. I had recovered an artifact for the court wizard and happened to be on hand to hear the report. Of course I went to the battle in support of the Whiterun Guard. I am sad to say that my healing spells could not save a single valiant soldier. I blame the court wizard and his inferior spellcraft. I am certain that my skills will improve under the guidance of a true professional in our order.

I found it odd, but it seems that spells can be learned from dragons! After the beast expired I felt a surge of knowledge and power. With a little encouragement from the surviving guards I demonstrated a forceful telekinesis spell, which I thought odd since as you know I could never grasp Alteration theory. Anyway I suppose it will be handy on the road when I encounter recalcitrant unbelievers.

Other news, I have acquired a follower of sorts in a warrior called Lydia. It is not entirely clear to me how we became connected, but she declares that she is sworn to me. I suspect she means sworn to Stendarr. Though these Nords understand Tamrielic correctly for the most part, the accents often render their speech incomprehensible. Perhaps in time the mystery will be revealed. Or perhaps Keeper Carcette will slap a robe on her and send us on the road together. We have a sort of understanding, Lydia and I. A sigh is a sigh in any language.

You would have been proud of me at the Battle of Western Watchtower, Augustine. Our training under Master Azzan stood me well. The guards were so impressed, they gave me a nickname.

I shall write again from the Hall of the Vigilant. Until then, Walk always in the light.

Yours,

Igraine the ‘Over Keen’

Brit humour, eh? You know, when I was a wee bit of a lad I got into a lot of trouble at school over that. No, not the humour, the difference in spelling. You see, my mother was a teacher, and when I was four she taught me to read from comic books. Some time before I turned six, she had me reading from a two-volume text book set that my maternal Great granmother had brought from Edinburgh when she came over here.

so... the thing is that the books were a Brit two-volume set on world history. The books were fascinating, the history was almost story-like and really interesting, and I loved those books dearly, but... Somehow I learned to spell while reading from those books, and that means when I got to school I was spelling "humor" as "humour" and color as "colour" and I had a tendency to add extra syllables to various words. Like instead of "aluminum", I would use "aluminium".

I struggled with that all my life... thus Frigus and Frigius both make perfect sense to me... :D

Yah.... agree with Areial... I understand that perfectly. I spent first and second grade in a private school where my mother taught, run by a lovely Aussie woman who gave me "extra" hours because I could write.... LOTS of hours....

And when we moved to Vegas everything I thought I knew - was thrown out the window. Because of course, I'd lived in Oz-land as for spelling and usage for several years. *sigh* I still find myself "correcting" spelling for common US usage.....

:hehe: I am Dyslexic enough not to notice mis-spelling unless, my spell check decides to work, which isn't often... or maybe that's my CRS and I don't remember to use the spell check. Grammar? err yeah, North meet's South...and Cuba... with a bunch of Greek's and Jamacian's..... not to mention the older member's of our family who forgot any English they knew...when they got mad... Family reunion's were... interesting to say the least. ( I'm from West Central Florida )

Bram... Hopefully the Moon, Star's and whatever God of fortune favored you... keep's it up!!

Grits, I love the letters from Igraine. It's an excellent way to tell the story and I am always a fan of your writing.

Neil, I don't want to spoil it for you, but just show up at Fort Dawnguard and see (or click here)

Spoiler
I think you can join and complete the first two quest lines as a vampire. Upon completing the second mission, Isran will conduct a test which you will fail. He will then tell you how to proceed.

Neil, nice update as well. I enjoyed it.

Inuksuk is now level 17. His favored skills are smithing (60 with 2 perks), Block (40 with 3 perks), one handed (40 with 4 perks), Heavy armor (30 with 3 perks) and Restoration (28 with 3 perks). He has one perk in the bank.

Here is what he has been up to.

Spoiler
After returning the White Phial to the snotty elf, Inuksuk decided to investigate Ironbind Barrow. Inuksuk and Skyrim's worst treasure hunters faced little opposition in the Barrow. Gathrik was tough, but Inuksuk's strong shield arm kept him at bay. Beem-Ja could not penetrate Dragonskin. He left the battle axe in the barrow for another intrepid adventurer to find.

After Ironbind, Inuksuk was chased down the mountain by a pair of ice wraiths. Taking refuge in Alfthand he ran into the crazy strong Ja' Dar (mentioned by Rick earlier). He was far stronger than Gathrik and made me pull Inuksuk out of Althand after grabbing some dwemer scrap.

On to Whiterun to finish up some a bounty in HSC (easier than usual) and Amren's sword quest in Redoran's Retreat (tougher than usual). He is still carrying around the Dragonstone.

Brief update from work:

Rhea, currently level 16, is returning the Lexicon to Avanchnzel for crazy 'ol Fathoms, in Riften. She seeks that all important Ancient Knowledge power, to help with her smithing skills.

Gear:

Dwarven Helmet

Dwarven Armor

Dwarven Gauntlets

Dwarven Boots

Dwarven Shield

Steel Mace (Superior)

Necklace of Wielding

Lord Stone

Never much of a mage, Rhea is slowly raising her magical prowess. She recently purchased a firebolt spell, to hunt with while on the roads. The secrets of the Aetherium Forge continue to elude her. (I do not look forward to Raldbthar at all. :nope: )

Rafer, thanks! Reading the character stories is my favorite part. Someday I am going to do a follower journal for the story, but this time I’m afraid Igraine will get Lydia killed too soon to make it work. :D I like how Inuksuk’s skill set is coming along. I envy his strong shield arm!

Kane, I’m sweating the Dwemer ruins. I’ve lost a number of low AR characters to Falmer and traps. :o

It’s storming like crazy in Grits World and I am procrastinating going out, so here are Igraine’s stats at Level 5 and 3:54 hours:

Spoiler

Restoration (Novice, Apprentice) 26

Destruction 18

One-Handed (Armsman 1/5) 27

Block 15

Smithing (Steel) 20

Heavy Armor 18

Light Armor 15

Illusion 20

(Lockpicking 17)

(Speech 22)

No quest points yet, no penalties.

AR 28, favored weapon Ancient Nord War Axe of Cold (unimproved) 12 + 5 frost as long as it has some charge left. Magic Resistance 25 (Breton).

Wears black mage robes +75 Magicka regen, Novice hood (it looks dreadful but what can you do), steel boots and gauntlets (Fine). She also has Jarl Balgruf’s gift steel armor (Fine) and looks pretty cute in it despite her mildly alarming air of zealotry. She may show the sense to put it on when she’s about to face something really bad.

Igraine is headed over the mountain to the Hall of the Vigilant by way of the Lord Stone. Lydia has her back.

You shouldn't.

Lolly Gaggin is dead, to automatons in Raldbthar. Level 16, Time: 24 hrs. 32 min. 12 sec.

DG quests completed: 3. If Lolly and I had the sense to go back to see Isran first, instead of tackling that Dwemer Ruin on the way home, we would have registered the "New Order" quest, as we had successfully recruited Sorine and Gunmar.

Zombie character to be announced. I'll post details when I decided.

New character. I'm going to drop all the way down to Novice for my Zombie, because I've already killed off more than 1/4 of my allotted time, and I'm unsure if I'll have anywhere near the remaining 70+ hours of free time to devote to this. (Maybe if it keeps raining here in the New England.)

Tu Vahdin means "Hammer Maiden" in Dragon Language. Tuvahdin will be a heavily armored battlemage.
