Gabriel left the temple of mara with visions of a caged man and an enormous, ancient graveyard dancing before his eyes.
Catching a cart to falkreath he elected to ignore the Jarl's request for now (no reason not to, he was already ignoring balgruuf after all) and headed straight to the barracks and prison to find out about the semi-naked man paddling around the bottom of a well. After being palmed a spiffy looking ring which the guards had neglected to appropriate the loony rolled around fitting until he sprouted fangs and big ears and a tail, then escaped after making gabriel promise to kill a magnificent white stag
After chasing the stag to a bandit stockade gabriel was briefly distracted and lost the stag, tracking it's clumsy path through the wilds to just across the river from riverwood. On ramming two flaming firebolts down its throat a spirit emerged claiming to be Hircine and sent Gabriel to kill Sinding, the murderous werewolf.
Travelling to Bloated Man's Grotto via the Whiterun stables (where he acquired a horse) Gabriel arrived to find the hunt well under way. Stripping bodies off all saleable goods as he went. Gabriel agreed to assist Sinding in wiping out the other hunters before turning on him and skinning the beast for the favour of Hircine. Hircine appeared again as the specter of a man and with a wave of his hand transformed the werewolf pelt into a truly magnificent armour capable of protecting from both magic and poison.
Gabriel jumped on his horse and raced back to Whiterun to sell what he could and along the way saw the headless horseman out for a stroll with the four legged aspect of Hircine (true story)
Brushing it off as something he didn't want to get involved in, Gabriel caught the next carriage to Riften and rode his horse in the direction of what he'd been told was Dayspring Canyon and the Dawnguard.
A blizzard blew in as he approached the turning causing him to miss it and run directly into psychotic High Elf in Dwarven Armour who immediately began peppering him with ice spikes. Thanking the Divines for the foresight he'd had in developing a serious magical resistance, Gabriel dropped a shock rune at the elf's feet then buried his axe in his face. Approaching the border-post, Gabriel realised his mistake and turned around, searching along the road until he saw the braziers at the canyon entrance.
Stepping through he ran up to the dilapidated fort with a helpless young whelp of a lad trailing noisily behind. On entering the fort, Gabriel saw a stern looking man with a large hammer arguing with a Vigilant of Stendar about some place called Dim Hollow....
