DiD Competition Round XVIII - Bandit Genocide

Post » Sun Jun 19, 2016 4:04 pm

(This is actually round XIII (13), don't mind the title)

The competition has a 3weeks/40 hour limit.

The competition has officially begun!

Post your characters name, race and gender!

Do it like this: (Example)

(Your name)
(Char's name)
(Race)
(six)
(Difficulty)

General Rules

- No Fortify/Restoration looping.

- No forbidden mods (That give players advantage) If you are new to this, send your mod list to me (MrBattleAxe).

-
No reloading previous saves even if character did not die (unless a glitch occurred) (PM me (MrBattleAxe) if your character died to a glitch. You should also describe the glitch the best way possible).
- No map based fast travel.

- Once in Helgen Keep, DiD rules apply (You must go through the cart cutscene!).

- No follower/trainer exploit.

- No followers, unless they're from a quest.

(Quest companions like Serana and Barabus have to be

taken directly to their quest destination with minimal side trips.)

- Update at least once every 3 days (If you can).

- You have 40 hours.

- You can only play for 3 weeks.

-
You may restart your game (right after you leave Helgen Keep) or create another character after you die. (It goes like: Human, Zombie, Wraith, Ghost, Shade, Whisp [Every time you die, you can go down one difficulty level if you want, the lowest being adept].)
- No mod that add storage (that includes mod houses).
- You must ALWAYS level up (meaning that, once you receive a level, you must take it right away).
- The player highest score is the only one that counts for the round, meaning someone that has become a Wraith may win over a Human, if their score is high enough.
- You may not 'skill spam'! (Creating 1000 iron daggers in one go, for example) (You can create 100 daggers per in-game week, if you wish)
- Difficulty must be higher then Adept.

Scoring

Points for each bandit: 10

(Forsworn and reavers count as bandits)

Points for each bandit stronghold/fort/cave cleared: 100 (You'll have to, most likely, do the same ones over again, and, since they'll be riddled with bandits, they count as a 'new' fort/cave/stronghold cleared.)

Points for killing an innocent traveller: -100

(Silverhands and other factions alike it do NOT count as bandits, nor do they count as innocents, so killing them doesn't matter.)

(Hired thugs do not count as bandits as well, since they're mercenaries. They also don't count as innocents.)

(Cultists [From the Dragonborn DLC] do not count as bandits. They also don't count as innocents.)

Difficulty multiplier:

Legendary: 1.5

Master: 1.25

Expert: 1

Adept: 0.75

BA

I don't mean to be picky buuuut......where your head at man?

ONE.......On 4th June....post #84......you said the start date would be Saturday 11th !!!

Bringing it forward a day with no warning has kinda caught me out.....I can't start until domestic arrangements have been taken care of and it was all geared around Saturday for a competition start!

Ok...I can live with it (its started so I'll have to  )

TWO....... Just noticed we do not have a formal END date AND time.

Since your "Starting Gun" post is recorded as 12:39 pm Friday 10th June

I will take the official finish moment as 12:39 pm Friday 1st July

THREE......belatedly I noticed in the rules that you have the drop down in difficulty for lower ranks upon death as Optional. They are meant to be MANDATORY.

So If I die on Legendary as a human, I have to come back on Master as a zombie......not just restart as Legendary Zombie again by choice! It is meant to add consequence for failure to survive, and is an important part of the fairness mechanic. Otherwise.....several early on deaths make no difference at all if you can just keep your difficulty level.

FOUR......For those confused by Roman Numerals....(cough) BA

This is Round 13.......XIII

Not Round 18 as shown in the title.....which may cause some headscratching in the future looking back eh!

Apart from all that.....thanks for hosting it mate

Yours

Lampshade Man :)

PS......Adella will self enter tomorrow with a special unveiling....Ooooooh!

Tsuri got in a practice... but we kinda erred... we thought that ... well Mr BA.... I know it was discussed, but were Forsworn decided to be "Bandit's of the Reach"... or are they in the Silverhand type faction? You can kill'um, but it don't count. Either way.. their are some dead Forsworn... they just don't know it yet.. Mama need's a new loin cloth...

I can't stand the Forsworn. There's always one at Karthspire that just wrecks me, no matter the difficulty.

I'll be busy on the weekend, so I decided to make the page today.

Why would they be mandatory? What if someone wants to continue playing on master or legendary? I wont certainly force them. Plus, they're gonna have to restart their characters from Helgen. Also, if they see that that difficulty is too hard, they'll go down (unless they like the challenge).

I... I wrote XIII but... Huh? I swear I wrote XIII ! Not sure where the XVIII care from...

Forsworn are considered bandits because that's what they are. They're bandits of the Reach.

BA

Ok your the rule master......but as I explained if you do not enforce a drop down on each restart then there is no penalty for death....certainly not if you die a lot near the start and just keep restarting as legendary ( in my case)

Fir example in three deaths time I will be "Ghost".....but still on legendary......so it makes no difference if I die then!

So.... I Shall worry less about staying alive early on eh!

That mean the DiD aspect is watered down to almost just a reloader play eh! The rules were thrashed out over many discussions over more than one round and settled up these as the best solutions!

( avoiding the obvious comments that yes its still pretty punishing restarting at any difficulty after half the alloted time has expired)

But as usual I will bow to your wisdom and take full advantage if you allow this unchanged :)

FOR EVERYONE.......Don't forget guys keep a tally of non bandit deaths to make make it easy to work out from the body counter in the UI. :)

Rick, you're complicating things. Seriously, I'm trying to make it very simple. If you restart, you'll have to restart right after you leave the helgen cave so you'll lose every bit of progress. If someone wants to continue playing at that difficulty, I'm not gonna say "No, you can't. You're crap at that difficulty so you have to get on a lower one".

Rick, again, complicating things! Normally modded houses have lots of storage areas, places where you can train your skills, an alchemy table, enchanting table, smithing things, etc. The person will have access to these thing for free, meaning that they won't have to work to have them. For the Winterhold dorm room, you'll have to walk ALL the way over there; Anise shack? You have to kill her. Breezehome? You gotta become thane and pay for it.

Edit: Rick, don't try to make simple things seem complicated.

Rick... the house all those pictures I sent...? Mod house. .. all the things Mr BA said... free. It's not just houses like that though... you have houses that come with a free horse, free alchemy and enchanting and smithing items... high end armor, weapons etc...

Now the majority of us are not going to take advantage of that kinda thing... but better to say "no mod houses" than to have to quantify every item one can and can not gave in a mod house.

Just my perspective on it...

Due to my time limitations, she'll be pretty focused on 3 or 4 skills only. And I won't be going after any shouts. Strictly bandit mayhem.

PS - Does it count I had to start over at the cart twice because when I was able to I kept forgetting to bump up the difficulty?

BA

Mate.......it is not "complicating things" to ask for rules etc to be made clear and succinct

In fact it is quite the opposite

Now maybe you do not want to tell someone that they have to drop a difficulty on restarting.....you have made the rule and we all abide by it....I am not in fact arguing the point. However...I WAS attempting to explain to you that there was actually a logical reason for it rather than just "I want it that way".

Areial.....Alchemy tables and enchanting tables for free with modded houses.....yes hon....I can see why that would be bad. But my query was because in the rules....in yellow....BA SPECIFICALLY stated not to have extra STORAGE......therefore I was querying whats wrong with that?

Not using mods myself I would not realise that the crafting tables came as freebies......if he had indicated THAT.....then I would not have queried the storage issue would I. You see...CLARITY is not "complicating!"

But if this is just seen as a "Rick thing" and people are happy to go with ambiguities and loop holes etc then fine, I will just shut up......but no one can then dare to complain when some clever smart Alec bends and twists the rules to win in bad form eh!

Edit...Ref your edit BA......"Rick making 'simple things' complicated" Nothing is 'simple! BA once you put some thought into it eh!

Since you have not equated dlc with mods....I will assume that HF houses are permitted as usual

Keep up the good work :)

Not a fan of re-rolling at the same level. I thought the point of dropping a level is that it's a penalty for dying? Its dead is dead after all.

;)~ Rick...colors are hard for me to read on my phone... I saw the "house" part... then my eye crossed.

I don't mind the rules to be on the picky side... it helps new people get on even keel with the rest of us. The "honor" system only works when all the rules are understood, even the unwritten ones we tend to follow.

Kane.....yes my friend....it is what I was explaining to BA.....and why! But he does not have to agree with my logic!

Areial.....its ok honey....but that just proves my point....clarity

And yes....I have been picky with the rules on purpose......because they are to be enshrined as our standard for competitions.....so it is very important that they are logical, clear and unambiguous.

Now they are not bad.....but not perfect either.....and I am not any self styled rule adjudicator....to be clear :)

Perhaps we need a new consensus agreement on that single rule aspect of whether to have a mandatory or optional drop in difficulty on restarting. TBH.... I thought we had it sorted. Kane feels as I do (So does Accidental Ninja on the other thread)....but maybe a revote on it before it's made a general rule.? BA.

It's the white background on my phone.. for the forum... colors are great against the black...but some colors really stink against white... why I don't always answer post's right away.
