DiD Competition, Trash Talk and other non-sense part 7

Post » Sat Apr 16, 2016 6:49 pm

I figured I would start another Trash Talk thread as part 6 was pretty full anyway...

So... the luck of the Draw for DiD Competition XII Dawnguard

1. Restoration

2. 1h

3. Illusion

4. Block

5. Light Armor

6. Smithing

7. Destruction

8. Heavy Armor

and that is a much better draw than I thought..err actually better than any of the other "trial" ones...

Personally I would have been happier with archery rather an destruction... M/H/S is going to be spread thin... sneak over illusion...but that's the way the cookie crumbled.

I dig it. Archery will be missed, but a few fireballs can help with that.

Yeah...Restoration will come in handy....very handy. I mean we can still use bought potions... No enchanting...make's Dawnbreaker a second thought... cause each recharge lvl's enchanting some... Would have to think twice about that one. I will miss cross-bow's...and make's a couple of the radiant quest's.... redundant... :cold:

Spoiler
No exploding cross-bow bolts...

On the bright side though.... Dawnguard light armor, Dawnguard shield and a mace are exactly what I was praying to the divines for.

Ax and Shield... with some judicious use of the Lunar Ax... Nord I think...for the "cold" bonus...as the vamp's love using that. IDK though I have a nice looking Imperial male, start's with a restoration bonus and some of the other things...

Ooooo.....The Contessa can work with this. No alchemy is a bummer,, but maces, shields and smithed Light Armour...YES!

I wonder if Sah will go heavy? Spellbreaker?

Hmmmmm......no potion making and no enchanting means coin is gonna be in short supply.....

Anyhow in Adella's case she better start learning all about restoration magics......totally totally new ground for both of us :)

Excellent! Nice draw, Kyne must have blessed the eight ball for us! Also like that we get to choose between heavy and light armor. Time to go practice, practice, practice!

I've missed a couple of competitions, and though I don't believe I've missed major changes, let me clarify for my own piece of mind....

So, this is the final set of skills that can be perked, and other skills can be used but no perks can be used in them? What I mean is that (as a for instance) I see illusion is on the list, so we could get all the perks in illusion and use spells like muffle and invisibility but not get a penalty for using sneak in combination with them as long as no sneak perks are used?

By-stander curiosity question, if I may?

Do you have to use all the skills? Or can you narrow them down to less than 8 as long as they come from what was drawn?

And Dawnguard starts at level 8? I think? If memory serves me right. Are you free to do whatever you like until that point?

I like it! No Sneak or Archery will be a minor nuisance, but it will force us to more bold and dangerous action! :)

Sneak isn't on the skill list, so you can't use it.

We're allowed to use Speech and Lockpicking, but can't perk them. Other than that, we can use (and perk) any combination of the 8 drawn skills.

No need to use all 8. For instance, I expect that people will choose either light or heavy armor, rather than mixing them.

Dawnguard can be started at any time. You don't get "invited" until you reach that level, but you can start the quest at any time by showing up at the fort.

So, you guys did toughen it up. Thanks for clarifying.

BTW, are there any restrictions on standing stones or shouts?

Thank you Glargg. ..it's hard to answer at work sometimes.

Neil... no limit on them... just no points for any related quests, unless they are Dawnguard.

In my normal game, I've given up on getting the mfd shout at autumnwatch tower. There are three or four skeletal dragon types who have lethal "unrelenting force" shouts they use. At level 20 I can't survive even for thirty seconds anywhere within a hundred feet or so of the towers... I DO get the one at the cave though...
