Did I install Qarl's Texture Pack correctly?

Post » Tue Apr 28, 2015 10:54 pm

Instead of downloading all the files individually, someone else had uploaded it in a single zip file and made it NMM friendly. I tried using NMM to install it first, but it didn't seem to change anything, and then I tried using Wyre Bash to install it and I still didn't notice anything different. Did I uninstall it correctly? Am I supposed to use OBMM or is the significant just not that much?

This is the link I used btw.

First off let me advise you to never use NMM for large texture packs. Personaly I would never use NMM for anything. Throw it out. :bonk: If you are smart enough to use Wrye Bash then that is all you need. You may want to get an http://www.nexusmods.com/oblivion/mods/10724/?. Try that. It has been too long since I have played Oblivion but I played it for 4 years straight and anything by Qarl is awesome. OBMM is also better than NMM but to use OBMM and NMM is unnecessary. Again Wrye Bash is the preferred method for Morrowind, Oblivion, Fallout, and even Skyrim.

If you are using Wrye Bash, you don't need the Archive Invalidation Mod either. Just click on Installers, then right-click on the Package header and select BSA Redirection. If I'm not mistaken, WB does this automatically on a new install.

That's correct. Archive invalidation is automatically toggled on when you install Wrye Bash, so if you don't muck with it, you don't need to worry about it at all. Installing Qarl's texture pack it as simple as right clicking on the archive in the WB installers tab and clicking on install.

May want to grab the UOP compatibility patch if you are using the UOP.

Qarl's is not that different from vanilla, so I had to compare some screenshots first time I installed it to make sure I had done it correctly.

Strange, I do have BSA Redirection already checked, but it I don't seen any new BSAs in my Oblivion ini file nor do I notice any change in graphics. I am still using the NMM version that I downloaded, but I don't see why that would make any difference since it's in the same zip format as every other mod. Though, I don't understand how you would install an OBMM mod through Bash anyways. Was there any non-OBMM versions before that guy created the NMM version?

I'll have to try that archive validation mod tomorrow to see if that works. I totally forgot about BSAs when I started playing modded Elder Scrolls again. Makes me wonder how many mods needs BSA redirection that I've installed on Skyrim and Oblivion... Could explain why the 2k textures didn't seem like it was working either in Skyrim.
