too many choices

Oh god what, Fallout has ALWAYS been about Choices and Consequences (the C&C system), even Fallout 3 had it in a lesser form, but it was there.

Yeah but there was multiple endings for the game:
CL takes Dam
NCR holds dam
House/Courier Defeats Legion and NCR

and not to mention all the towns and other factions had endings depending on choices as well as companions

in Fallout 3 all "endings" had one thing in common:Enclave kicked out of the Project Purity

yeah but broken steel had the start being the same, BoS in charge of the purifier, FEV or not.

This game has an overabundance of choices for who controls Vegas/outcome of Hoover Dam
How do you make one post-game DLC accounting for all endings?

that was the whole point of my original post was weather or not the many endings of New Vegas-and the fact that it failed to show the game as epic to me-can be put into a single DLC showing the consequences of your actions

Fallout had multiple endings, Fallout 2 had one ending but with different ways, but both had endings slides for settlements and people because of C&C.

For me yes it did.
The story was perfect for the next addition to the Fallout line imo.
I started on the original FO and have played along with this games progression the entire time.
It was indeed very similar in play / graphics to FO3 but for the life of me i cannot see how thats a bad thing.
PC version i had limited if any issue's with the game running and the patches quickly removed them.
In depth story line and the companions each having thier own story was a nice touch.
I ran at around 100 hours first time through.
the dead money dlc went alittle to far left of center for me it fealt like silent hill / horror genre alittle bit but was well worth playing.
I would like to have seen ( as was eventually corrected in FO3) an ability to continue the game after completion. but having learned i saved right before the final quest and am playing anyways.
The game met my expectations.. maybe not exceeded them but i never once thought " o man wth"
I for one was also glad to see PC gamers did not have to go drop 300 bones for a new card to run it.. my GTX275, core i7 920, ran it beautifully.
so for me i would have to go 9.5 / 10 ( the last .5 was for incase i was like HOLY CRAP OMG MAN AWESOME.. instead of just enjoying the hell out of it.)
I am still roaming and finding places off the location indicator and sniping powdergangers from a clifftop or taking on 12 Deathclaws with That Gun still have alot of value for me.
I wioll be grabbing the DLC's as fast as you turn them out.
all i got
thanks for not letting me down, certain games that you have grown with actually upset me alot when they drop the ball.. you did not.

This has become a typical F3 vs FNV thread. Ok, while there is nothing wrong with that in itself I do feel that the arguments for each have been well covered by now. Everyone here has their favourite and is unlikely to ever be convinced of the merits of the other. That's fine too, since we all look for different things in a game, and F3 and FNV, for all their visual similarities, are quite different.

I do hope that the game designers are reading all of these posts, as repetitive as they are, since Fallout 4 will most likely be heavily influenced by them. I also hope, quite sincerely, that F4 does not divide between 'true Fallout fans' and 'those who liked Fallout 3', as this seems to be the general way these threads seem to go.

Just remember, we are all on the same side. We all love Fallout, whichever version of the game it happens to be. We are also lucky that these games are so well designed that it's possible to see different things in them, rather than being linear, with no variation.

I like to immerse my self in the Universe the games I play create.
I have Spent thousands of hours in Fallout 1 and 2. I love the story and the characters in those games (and they were released over 10 years ago)
I have spent hundreds (if not thousands) of hours in Fallout 3. (if it was a horrible game i wouldn't have done that) I like it (for the most part) but see room for improvement. (mostly story related but some in regards to the gameplay mechanics)
I have spent so far only 417 hours in Fallout New Vegas, (im pacing my self for the DLCs, I do tend to get burnt out on games sometimes) I do think they did a Much better job with the story in NV. the game mechanics are still a problem IMHO though,

do I hate Fallout 3, No. do I think bethesda did somethings wrong Yes. do I think they can Learn from their mistakes? i wouldn't be posting this in their forums if I didnt.
Does Obsidian do a better job at feedback, yes the lead designer is in the forums daily talking with the players. when was the last time you saw Todd Howard make a post? I cant even seem to find his forum account.

Im just not of the camp that think Fallout 3 was the 2nd coming, and that every game needs to follow its mold. Lowest Common Denominator Logic is killing the game industry. EA, Blizactivision, Ubisoft and all the other BORGaming companies are going to cause another gaming crash (like in 86).

Yeah I did I expected fallout 3 with improvments I did'nt count on the amazing story and charecters that we got as well, and the improved combat along with the more tuned special and skill systems made the game an enjoyable challenge, the only downsides to me were of course the bugs which their working on and fewer explorable areas I think some of the places such as the abondoned lamplight airport could have been like big dungeons but there were still a lot of good location in the game just fewer than in fallout 3.

Met them as i was almost expecting fo3 in all honesty it exceeded in some ways and it didn't in others:shrug : . Just fo3 had the crack factor (easy to get addicted to ) that fonv just hasn't got i'm running out of things to do as i have done the 4 playthroughts and most sidequests and platinumed it and there isn't all that much to explore. But i still play fo3 almost everyday.

im happy with it for the most part, ob did sooo many things better than beth.

but i gotta say, f3's locations and hell, even oblivions copy paste dungeons are much more interesting and fun to explore than most of the "locations" in new vegas
