Hey all,

I was thinking about this the other day -- Do you think that the Chimer started the concept of enslaving Argonians and Khajiit in Morrowind (Resdayn) or did that start after they had been transformed into the Dunmer? I don't think it says anywhere. Everything I've found discusses the Dunmer and how they'd regularly raid the Black Marsh to capture slaves.

Part of me would like to think the Chimer were a bit more noble than that, but that's just personal taste and opinion.

What do you guys think?

The only thing that changed from chimer to dunmer was pretty much skin and eye color. So yes, I bet they had slaves. Same people, just colored differently.

Well I guess my big question is, when did they start raiding black marsh for slaves? I don't think the Chimer did that, seems to be more during the times of the Dunmer as the Chimer had a whole lot of other things going on. By that rationale I'm guessing slavery didn't really take hold until they started doing that as Dunmer.

I call that pretty significant, much more significant than just the change of a colour.

Most people kept slaves back then; the vast majority of elves did, at least, and Tiber Septim sold prisoners from Sancre Tor, I think.

If they did, they wouldn't have enslaved Khajiit or Argonians. My impression was that the Chimer mainly kept to Vvardenfell and then pushed out and colonized once pressures on their growth (war with the Nords and Dwemer) were lifted for the time being.

Elves seem to have a thing for slaves. Dunmer have (had) Khajiit and Argonians obviously, the Ayleids kept human slaves, the Altmer keep goblin slaves. However, I'm not sure about the Orsimer, I don't know if keeping "lesser" races as slaves is really their style.

But I think there's a good chance the Chimer, Dwemer and probably Falmer all kept slaves. Maybe not on the same scale as the other elven races, but I don't think it would've been quite the taboo topic it is for humans.

Ehich reminds me to ask...When were the Chimer cursed?

Maybe Pariah folk did before they changed but now I don't believe they do. Malacath wouldn't allow it.


I'm fairly sure the Chimer has the same lifestyle as the Dunmer, except their gods were switched and their skin darkened (eyes reddened as well)
Dwemer had no need for slaves, They had robots.
Interesting point on the Falmer; enslavment could have been one of the reasons why the Nords hate them so much.



The Chimer turned into the Dunmer during the Battle of Red Mountain, exactly when the Tribunal ascended and a few minutes after the Dwemer disappeared.

No. It was when the Tribunal ascended. Which was a couple of months after Nerevar died and Red Mountain. Seht needed time to study the tools.
