Did the oblivion gates open up everywhere?

Post » Fri Nov 18, 2011 9:11 am

It may have been said in Oblivion but i cant remember. When oblivion opened were gates appearing in all the provinces? Im curious if we will see remains of gates or more daedra possibly left over in some way. I think its extreamly hard for them to stay in the world without the gates open but there was still some in morrowind even though they were still closed.

Thoughts?

Yup. The Infernal City series say Morrowind was utterly demolished. Black Marsh fended off everything. Skyrim was hit hard in the northern coasts.

I'm hoping there are random daedra encounters, but I wouldn't connect them to any permanent Oblivion Gates.

I'm pretty sure I spotted a Daedra in one of the recent trailers. Though it may have just been a person with a cool horned helmet.

You don't need an Oblivion Gate for Daedra to be wandering around. They get here other ways. Gates just made it easier for them to commute, kind of like a super highway of evil.

I know. Just sayin'. Though, it was chopping wood peacefully, so I doubt it was a Daedra.

Is a kindle worth it? I've been thinking about getting one, but haven't really decided.

OT: I hope to see things from the realm of Oblivion being turned into rare goods. Things like bloodgrass have a high price.

There are comments in game about the other provinces being invaded too. For example there is the rumor about Ald'ruhn being destroyed; and the reason High Chancellor Ocato doesn't provide support to the Battle of Bruma is that the Legions are deployed fighting Daedra in the provinces, and if he recalls them he's concerned that the provinces might rebel.

But as mentioned above, gates don't seem to be the only way for Daedra to enter Mundus. For example, Conjurers have lots of Daedra hanging around.

The "rules" for passage between the realms seems to be that a resident must invite the outsider. A conjurer can summon Deadra. A resident such as the player can request a portal be opened so they can travel to (e.g.) Peryite's or Boethiah's worlds only at that Prince's invitation. Sheogorath opened the gate on the floating island, but could not send anyone through it. That was an invitation for travel in the other direction.

The Mythic Dawn opened the Gates from the Tamriel side in large numbers, and all over the map. They were assisted by the weakening of the constraints on Mehrunes Dagon resulting from the Dragonfires being unlit, but it still took action from the inside. The MQ climix left it much harder to do, and impossible on the scale of an invasion, but a bit of tourism or inter-planar commerce is still on the table.

in oblivion when you rescue Martin that is the invisible trigger to the gates appearing everywhere. i dont think you can randomly run into a deadra in the middle of Cyrodil. it has to be a quest.
