Indeed, that's why I don't listen to any arguments about ESO not following Elder Scrolls lore. Lore is highly influenced by points of view and some things that we learned in other ES games are possibly completely false. ESO does not break the lore in any major way and fits perfectly. Well, to be fair, the falmer wiped out Saarthal and then Ysgramor came back for revenge, but you're right

the reason they sacked the city is unkown, whether it was out of fear, desire for power or just being sick of the nords.

one things for sure though, nords refused diplomacy with the "filthy elves" and so this is why there was never peace.

and history is always written by the victory, which is very true in TES. nords always make themselves look like heroes when in reality they are nothing more than xenophobic, racist, savages.
