It looks just fine. You can even compare it to the crown jewel http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZiIKqlfQwPg#t=05m55s and it doesn't look that bad.

The game still has months of development time.

As far as graphics go, it's like I said in the other thread: Remember that they still have about 8.5 months to polish, and perfect, and deliver us as perfect as possible, and to be frank I rather see an imperfect, 'under delivering/average' version, and then be pleasantly surprised on 11.11.11., then repeat Oblivion and its full shadows

Really?

Its just water, and it looked fine. Stupid whines on graphics. Please go watch a pretty CGI movie or something if you care so much.
Besides the water we saw looked like it was formed into a rapid which is supposed to look frothy.

Ohh, so it was a console footage? - then don't worry ppl!

If THAT was a console footage, imagine what the PC can do ;)

After all, that game is not some console ported copypasta, the PC is the main platform so i say it will sure look 10 times better than what we saw! kekeke

Modders usually can't/don't reanimate stuff.

What?
Apparently you've never used any mods for Morrowind or Oblivion.

Wow really? That cant be right... well if so, am sure we'll have plenty of options for the PC that can't be selected on console ;)

Moot point is moot, as Morrowind != Skyrim. They didn't use Havok Behavior for animation on either predecessor. We may not even HAVE access to the ability to reanimate meshes. Unless a modder buys Havok Behavior just to edit the files. Edit: There's still the possibility that whatever BGS uses is not compatible with publicly available Havok tools. There's a small chance you could import the files to something in Maya/3dsMax, then re-export to the Havok-compatible format. But we'll have to see.

I've been playing video games since the 1980s, and the game itself matters most to me. I couldn't care less about nitpicking the water. The game looks amazing to me.

Precisely. The rapids need a dynamic surface texture and some particle physics for the splashes. Shouldn't be too hard considering the other features we've seen elsewhere in the trailer.

Something the console wouldn't be able to handle on that scale, which is what that trailer was from, the console version. I'll be starting the little detail mods for some things like the white water particle effects and having transparent windows and all the little tiny details that no game developer can get around to, which is why they give us the ability to mod. They give us modding tools so we can work on the little details that they and no other game developer making the game can't focus on for large periods of time. With letting the modding community do it, there are hundreds of people able to work on one specific detail of the game for months, which allows for that detail to look better, but it's not like the developers can't do it, they just don't have the time to be so specific on a certain thing and still make the game framework and add everything else in and still make little things hyper-realistic, that's what us modders are for and the sooner people realize this the sooner people can stop thinking that the devs aren't incredibly talented people.

Sure the flowing looked a road, but we can slit throats! That river shot did bring hope of there being current's that can carry you down a river or even extreme currents that can drown you, that would awesome, like should I dare try and cross or try and find a bridge.

Water isn't at all clear in rapids, they did fine.

Yeah I reckon it is fine. All they need to do is make is higher detail and viola.

Havok behaviour deals with character animations, that has nothing to do with a simple animated water mesh.

No, they should leave it that way because that is what white water looks like and there is no way in hell the consoles are going to be able to handle what you guys want. You want particle spray effects, you know how much processing power that takes? More than consoles have at all. If they change it for the PC version, great, but I doubt they will and they don't need to, that's our job as modders to change something as moot as that and make things that require that much work for the processing power and time because we can obsess over one little thing, they can't. The white water run off in that pic that everyone thinks is indicative of all water in Skyrim, it isn't, that's white water and that's what it is supposed to look like. There are plenty of spraying coming from that waterfall if you didn't notice. If you want to see real water in the game, it shows up multiple times in the trailer and I think it is posted up above also as a pic.

Pretty much everyone understands that all the other water looks good. It's the whitewater people are complaining about, which does not look good in comparison. White water is water too, you know.
