The game still has months of development time.

I personally don't care as long as it isn't a sign of bad gameplay, which it isn't so.......

Well to be honest that flowing water looked pretty bad. Every other part where it showed water in the trailer it looked great but that scene of the flowing water didn't match the quality of this trailer.

I hope they fix that but other then that.....

WOW...this game is going to be INSANE. So epic its scary and the new animations are fantastic.

And they sure as hell aint using that time to fix the water. Stop deluding yourself. The whole game has low res textures, not just the dragon. The moving water was the only decent water I saw, even if it was low res. All the still water looked worse than Morrowind.

It's not the best looking, but so long as the atmosphere is good I won't mind too much. Arcania Gothic 4 didn't have great-looking water but I felt that the atmosphere was awesome, so I still very much enjoyed being at the seaside.

There's the possibility we was shown an alpha build of the game, or even before that. This could be some old footage and textures they cranked together.

They just have to make it better than Oblivion and I won't mind so much. But so far its shaping up to be all action focused like Oblivion was. We'll see though.

why are people mad about the water, i'm not disappointed with it at all, it's not something that breaks a game.

Well I slowed it down and freezed it at the flowing water scene and it just flat out looks bad...like a giant white rug is being rolled out.

Every other scene with water looks great from what I can see so if they can modify that some how it will be awesome.

Everything else looks like I thought it would. I mean its coming to the 360 and PS3 so it can only look so good on consoles. It looks like Oblivion but touched up with a lot of details which in turn will look stunning on release.

No, but I did expect a large number of whiny, [censored]ing threads complaining about one minute detail endlessly despite the amazing glimpse we were just given at the game we (I assume) are all anxiously awaiting.

Hey look. I was right.

The water seen on the fire left in the town with the woman leaning on the railing infront of her on the right looks fine to me. Don't really see a problem.

I don't think anyone is "mad" about water. But the water effects in Skyrim are trumped by games that came out in 2002. That's a problem.

WHile the rapids look bad, arguably....there are other points where the water looks beautiful...

1) in the cave where he shoots the light out of his staff, you can see flowing water through the cave which looks amazing.

2) The animated waterfalls over Markarth look great, at least at the distance of the trailer camera

3) The flat, slow-moving water by Winterhold and in the shot where the guy gets stabbed by a finishing move.

MAybe they will fix the animation of the rapids to make it more like RDR, otherwise I think they're on the right track

Well, yeah? For christ's sake, if we all spend all day ignoring the faults and circlejerking about the great things, nothing has been achieved.

Furthermore, there is an area between "It's perfect" and "Ruined the game" - the water looked terrible. No, this doesn't ruin the [censored] game, that doesn't mean it doesn't look terrible.

Textures are only small part of the graphics. Truly graphical immersion comes from amount of particles and objects in scene. Sadly, on this generation consoles developers can't max both. For example, Battlefield Bad Company 2 did not have so large textures either, but still it is one of the best looking games today. The right thing for developers to do is to find the correct balance between great particle and object detail and good textures. Skyrim seems to be very action packed game so I think the texture side doesn't matter so much, but I must say, Tamriel looks better than ever in this trailer.

I suggest keeping this in the main complaint thread. Kind of ridiculous to have this much complaint against water if you ask me. It's a non-linear world which means that other areas have to be greater looking to uphold immersion, even if that means messing with water textures. Plus all you've seen is running water. Don't say anything unless you've stood in a still pond and played with the water physics. It's already been said that dragons can create water effects by flying over them. This means that there are realistic animations pertaining to that.
