Yes all companions can die, just when they get in their critical state they lose aggro but if any splash damage hits them, they are dead.

Every time she has died on me it was my fault. I clipped her by accident but brought her back every time,.. she is adorable

Pretty much same here. I just finally traded her in for Faendal though; I couldn't handle her passive aggressive b*tchy 'tude.

I hated her to but i tried to ude Uthgerd and it was more of a hassle to keep her alive so i switched back to lydia. Plus i use healin hands with a war axe to keep her alive
