Didn't like Morrowind and Oblivion, but Skyrim ROCKS!

Post » Sun Dec 11, 2011 10:32 pm

Who thinks that to?

For me Morrowind the combat ruined it, and for Oblivion the combat and stupid main quest.

This is my opinion :toughninja:

I really liked all three and if I could just combine certain elements from Morrowind and Oblivion into Skyrim, I would be in heaven. Such as bringing back more armor types, static item placement, spell crafting, underwater combat, more alien environments, BEAST LEGS, etc.

Spell making will do me.

Agree with OP. Didn't like Morrowind at all (too many complaints to mention), and didn't play Oblivion because of it, but I'm reallly enjoying Skyrim.

In terms of unique and captivating story Morrowind beats Oblivion and Skyrim combined.

!!!! i loved that :D

but anyhow, i never really liked morrowind, i liked oblivion just a bit, althou the main quest was lame

For me the fallout series where the best, and seeing some elements from fallout mixed with the older TES games into Skyrim, its good to see

Not the most difficult thing to do though.

So far Skyrim is my favorite TES game. My only two complaints are that it's not optimized for PC and combat, while looking 1000% better, still gets boring very fast.

Loved Morrowind, massively disappointed in Oblivion, pleased to see the writing getting better again in Skyrim.

Morrowind was the best in my Opinion. Skyrim is the most Flexible. Oblivion had a good Story line
Morrowind is primitive, Skyrim has a few Game play issues, Oblivion was completely copy and pasted.

I like them all
#1- Morrowind
#2- Skyrim
#3- Oblivion

I want to try Daggerfall but I'm thinking that's my limit on graphics svcking (on an RPG)

I can understand not liking Oblivion... but Morrowind? eh...

You lost me there.

a Game can still be really good, but primitive. Morrowind is really good. But you read everything, graphics are obviously lacking, as well as movement and some sound effects, but its still an awesome game.

another good example of this is Zelda. I don't like new Zelda games. But Ocarina of time was.. is my favorite game of all time. But it is primitive compared to other games.

@OP, yeah me too. I never really liked the entire Oblivion Crisis thing, I just wanted to play around in Cyrodiil, not go into some.. hell? +Skyrim is better in exactly every aspect as far as I know, well, out of length of main-guild-questline, but there are many more sidequests.

Morrowind was received to be mediocre at the time of it's release so I didn't really test it out. UNTIL I played Oblivion and love it! Then I loved Morrowind! NOW I LOVE ALL THREE! Some a little less then others, though...

Morrowind got ruined by vague quest directions and a lack of compass, awful leveling system, #@&% CLIFF RACERS and bad combat... it had an unique and interesting setting going for it.

Oblivion had a boring main quest and the most bland and generic setting, bandits in daedric armor and the leveling system was still a mess... The radiant system was an over hyped failure. It had some good moments like the thieves guild and dark brotherhood quest lines though.

Skyrim is far from perfect... it's a lazy console port without an optimized PC interface and magic vs melee isn't really balanced, but it's an improvement over the other games in most aspects imho. I'm actually enjoying it out of the box without needing a dozen of mods just to make it playable. It's not game of the year material but it's a good solid sandbox game that's a lot of fun, the story is interesting and the setting actually seems alive in the way Oblivion was supposed to be, dragon fights are cool, the new leveling system lets you do anything with less chance to get screwed over by picking the wrong skills or leveling too fast.

What I think the TES series lacks is depth... becoming the archmage should have an effect on how people outside the college treat and address me and should come into play in other quests too, your spouse could actually have things to do and say, actions should have consequences both good and bad.

Got ruined? You must have played a different game then. PC players don't really need a compass or directions that hold you by the hand like in the arcade culture.

I enjoyed Oblivion, except the main quest, that was horrible.
Morrowind was horrible all along, especially the dull environment and the dice-roll combat (what a joke).

Skyrim is much better than both together.

I like knowing where to go or where to find a quest item rather than having to wander around for hours. Being told to go south, then west isn't really helpful, just show me on the map.

Lol, so i guess you're one of those who got lost for hours. I got lost many times In Morrowind and i found myself tracking a different adventure which led me to another adventure in strange lands in which I found myself entangled in their politics, lore and hatred. Never got bored. Nothing beats a journal with a dozen incomplete quest not because you were lost but because you decided to wander. Besides, didn't Tolkien say, "Not all who wander are lost." A map telling me where is the item is for tourists.

Morrowind was fantastic.
Oblivion, was dry. I played it, but I didn't get into like Morrowind.

Skyrim - Skyrim does so many things right. Yet it drops a lot of the game density. I miss the more complex guild lines of Morrowind, spell variety, and skill variety. What it does do right in alot of ways is the world building. It's more than "generic fantasy", it's immersive in terms of exploring. Honestly, I love the game overall, and I perhaps shouldn't participate in picking it a part. I'm not saying it doesn't have it's problems, but EVERY TES game had problems. They got fixed, mostly, with the Construction Kit.
