To die in the tutorial is so great!

Post » Sun Dec 15, 2013 2:43 am

Start of the game.

Running around and facing a dragon!

Hands tied behind your back, now what?

Scream dirty cuzz-words and spit in the dragons general direction.

The dragon hits you again and YOU DIE!

This game is so linear! Or maybe not?

I don't mind it, if you didn't have to it all over again, like the cinemas where you start again.

That svcks!

Rememberd good point here, save ingame.

the thing is, does your stats increase during tutorials?

How to play the beginning is a differnt story.

You'll tell me later. :)

I just died in the tutorial and the game sent me back to the headchoppig service.

Funky in one sense, but the start is so boring already, why not making you "untouchable" from the start?

NO!

Bethesda already gets moaned at for the series being "dumbed down" and too much "hand holding." Having god mode at the start would be... Crap.

LOL.

You died before you started the tutorial.

I usually run around for about 5 minutes because I love watching Alduin smack around a few Legion soldiers, especially the one he knocks into the sky. :D

So I'm not the only one. It's funny as hell watching that soldier soar through the air

How did die in the TUTORIAL? Seriously, that's pretty poor. :)

Hang around long enough and eventually you become Alduin's bish. Happened to me once. It may be because his actions are scripted only so far, then "normal" dragon AI takes over, at which point he's free to slaughter you - but I'm just guessing.

In any case, it brings new meaning to the phrase "No lollygaggin'."

I think once Alduin kills most of the guards, he's scripted to start gunning after you (lorewise, he now senses there's something special about you and wants to kill you before you can learn of your powers.)

It's fun to watch him curbstomp the guards, however. xD Favorie gems I've heard them say is, "How does that thing move so damned fast?!" Um, I don't know, dude, maybe it's because it's got TWO GIANT WINGS?

I can confirm Alduin does start to come after you once the guards are done. It's about this time I Exit... Stage Right.

Yes your stats can increase during the tutorial.

Your game should autosave right before you create your character, so I'm not sure why you re-did the initial wagon segment.

For me, When I followed Ralof, I stood at the door, not close enough to "trigger" the transition. I was pressing my "E" key, my mouse buttons, almost anything trying to get the door open. Alduin decided to burn me to a crisp then. I only needed to take one or two more steps and I would have been fine :)

*gets ragdolled by Alduin*

Hey! My binds are gone!

Bethesda: NOPE!

Or how the binds magically disappear once you're dead...But that's probably a bit too much nitpicking.

Nothing gets better then seeing Legionnaires being send to the sky...unless they were Thalmor. Ifg I had a gaming Pc, I'd replace the Legion with Thalmor, just to see Alduin kill 'em.

I was too afraid to wait to see if I could die. I was hiding in buildings the entire time.

Random Alternate Start is a lot better than having to go through that annoying tutorial. All tutorials are fun the first time around though. The first time.

Iv'e already looked into Random alternate start & Live another life. Might try them sometime. But once your in the castle, i don't mind the tutorial, something oddly comforting about it.

Didn't you notice that Lokir's binds disappear when he dies? It's scripted, but I've always wondered why the devs chose to have people unbound when they die. Maybe the anims would look weird?

That must've slipped my mind.

The animations would look weird bound or unbound, since it's pretty much random. Jumping from the Throat of the World makes your character (sometimes)do a spin before he/she dies, instead of instantly collapsing. A well placed arrow makes you fly against a wall, or perform a nice backflip :P

I must admit that one time, I was curious how Tullius handled the whole attack thing, so I stuck by him near the gate for a bit, listening to him give orders. I did end up making it to safety afterwards :)

I have a lot of fun http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chicken_%28game%29 with Alduin. I'll linger in the courtyard, getting as close to Alduin as I can without dying, for as long as I can. But this means I probably die about 80% of the time I take a character through Helgen.

I guess this discounts the theory that Alduin appears in Helgen to save the player character. ;)
