Difference between Atronachs

Post » Tue May 29, 2012 8:54 am

Besides the obvious use of and immunity to their respective elemental types is there any difference between the three Atronachs?
Do they fight any differently, deal damage differently, or is there a power difference even?

Fire Atronachs are ranged fighters but are weak in Melee and health

Frost Atronachs are big and can block doors but make excellent tanks for distracting enemies or doing some damage to weaker groups. Note they are melee only.

Storm Atronachs aren't as big as Frost ones but are bigger than fire. They have a more health than fire but less than frost. They are offensive and carry a wide variety of attacks that drain Magic and help you with ranged and physical attacks.

I have a question. In the perks does a dremora lord count as an atronach or a reanimated undead? Or does it count at all?

I'd say frost is a tank/melee attacker, fire is good for ranged attacks against archers and dragons, and storm is a mage buster, use those against mages cause they also drain their mana.

storm is the "best" overall atronach. not counting the dremora which also counts as an atronach since it gets the doubel duration effect from the perk.

if you have storm thrall which is the most expensive conjuration spell you can have two storm atronachs up permanently which is just awsome when they start giving you cover with range lighting shocks :D and you dont need to recast them every 2 minutes like the dremora ones.

the ice ones are not very good i find because in dungeons they are just to FAT most times to follow you. storm is best overall.

They have static levels.

Fire atronach is 6 and will always be 6 until you take potent atronachs at which point it becomes 12

ice atronach is level 16, doubles with Potent, etc.

They're all useless compared to Dremora Lord. Fire and Storm spend too much time spamming their very weak ranged attacks instead of using their strong melee and the ice atronach doesn't do anything better than the Dremora Lord ( including scaring the pants off your enemies. THEY SMELL WEAKNESS).

Dremora Lords are 42.

Does the Dremora Lord count as an Atronach for the purpose of doubling his power? If so, thats sick. :)

I dont have any of the Atronach Perks currently because as far as I can tell, the Atronachs start svcking. I have the Master Conjuration perk and its 4 pre-reqs, and my Dremora Lord does well, but my Atronachs cant hang. They couldnt even hang in the 20s. They die so fast. But I never had the perk.

Can anyone say whether the Atronachs svck or not at level 50+ when fully perked?

Thanks!

If you have the perks, the Storm Atronach isn't bad. It's not great, but it's about as good as the Dremora Lord IMO, just different focus. I use Storm when i'm fighting mages or dragons or anything I need ranged for. I use Dremora Lord when I want a tank or just general dps. Though of late, I then to use neither, on my rogue I'm stealth sniping everything and on my mage they tend to get in the way of my spells. But I still do find them useful on my rogue when I'm revealed for whatever reason.

I'm not sure if it's a bug or just an erroneous description but if you have the twin souls perk you can summon two dremora lords.

They benefit from atronach perks. However i'm not sure if they get the %50 buff from atronancy perk.
