For most games these days, there are no real differences. The new gen consoles are essentially (X86) machines under the hood with a proprietary OS running the show. However this means that developers can now make games that are functionally the same for all platforms.

Unless the developer has created features exclusive to one platform or another, the games are usually pretty much the same. The biggest difference is typically that there are a wider range of configuration options for PC versions to account for a wider array of hardware. Oftentimes, the PC versions have higher graphical detail settings available to allow higher levels of eye-candy to be enabled for those with sufficiently powerful hardware.

Ecosystems

When you buy an Xbox you are buying games, software, accessories and peripherals that MS controls and makes money on. A 250GB Hard Drive for the Xbox 360 still costs over $100.00 retail (even though you can buy 1TB hard drives for less than that these days). Same as with Nintendo and Sony with their ecosystems.
