Differences between both versions of Crysis1 (so far)

Post » Tue Nov 29, 2011 4:33 am

This is not a troll post!

I just want ( and invite you to complete the list) count some differences between the two versions.

Consoleversion will have:
-Cryengine 3 lighting
-a padfriendly controlscheme
-the ( important) suitmodes from Crysis 2
- the abillity to stealth kill (not confirmed?)
- the abillity to climb up on edges (not confirmed)
- the abillity to slide (not confirmed)

The Pc version has:
- a multiplayermode (but the servers are empty most of the time)
- higher res textures
- better explosions and smokeffects
- better foliage and a more detailed nature
- more opponents and bigger action bubbles
- the abillity to mod the game and improve the grfx
- a better Level Of Detail (LOD)
- probably better and heavyier use of Physics
- a better shadowresolution and more detailshadows all in all
- more vegetation
- more detailed charakter models

did i miss something?

Actually according to the latest GS interview the level sizes, the action bubbles and most of the explosions, particle effects and foliage remained unchanged in the console version. The level "ascension" was removed apparently because the fans thought it svcked.

I'll give you textures, LOD and resolution but that's pretty much it as far as we know

Energy drainge also seems much less in C1 console version than it was in C2. There seems to be also a different way to swap weapons according to the developer interviewed by GS.
Said Dev also confirmed that aside for some asset positioning the level layout and sizes remained identical. Memory lack was dealt with better alogorithms and other nifty tricks.

What do you mean by this?

It was a not so subtle hint at the fact he consider the new suit functions controls to be inferior to the C1 radial menu and whatnot

and I repeat that according to Crytek the levels in the console version and the number of enemies as well as the effects, foliage, objects and whatnot aside for some placement remained identical to the pc version (yes well not on very high but at a decent level)

and that is from the mouth of a dev.....as much as you did not intend it to be a troll post you really cut it a little too close there

Except it's not.

You have a little glowing icon on your HUD when power mode is activated. It is not always glowing therefore the suit mode is not always activated.

The N2 has no default mode.

@ crimzontearz

According to Stens Interview:
We also looked at our AI counts and scripting, to prevent large amount of AI being active the player could actually not engage.
I interpreted this as a limitation of the max AI which is next or near the player...
( Also this is extremely dumb and a waste of processingtime if even the unseeable AI had to be calculated all the time in the original Pc Crysis. Its a clear: lack of optimization)

And i assume that there is more cut out than Crytek actually mentioned so far. It was the same with Crysis 2 for the PC.They cloaked the weaknesses in secrecy or evaded precise answers to technical questions to keep the expecations up. If they really managed to run the original Crysis 1 (on high) par for par to the console then they expose themselves as some of the worst Pcgamedevelopers (enginedevelopers) of the last years, as Crysis 1 is still the ultimate hardwarehungry bich. Now i know the Cryengine 3 makes it all possible -card will be played by someone... I would respond why didnt they optimized the Cryengine 2 properly in the first place? It would have increased the sales (because more people could have played it even with mediocre PCs) and probably led to a better reputation as a developer.

@ MMAMickey
The suitmodethingy:
It makes no difference for me.. i had to turn on the strengh mode manually in Crysis 1 an this is not needed in Crysis 2 anymore.
So precisely its always on "standby" if you prefer this description.

yeah what they mean by that is that they turned off AI scripts if you are too far to interact with them not that they reduced the number of enemies on screen. There is a comparison video between Crysis 1 on pc on High and crysis 1 for consoles. The console version holds up very well and the levels are pretty much identical.

Seriously does ANY of this influence you AT ALL? Drop it man andgo back to play Crysis 1 on ultra on your PC. The existence of an optimized console version that runs comparatively at borderline high settings is not going to make your version of the game any worse

@ crimzontearz

He he .. we start discussing on 2 different threads now :

It influences me as i do not gain anything out of these optimizations. Its not even allowed to port Crysis 1 over to the Cryengine 3 by ourselves.
And its wasted time to wait for Patches for Crysis 2 Pc because Crytek rather keeps focussing on consoles instead of implenting punk buster or enhance the anticheatmeasures or at least fix the still existing mass of flaws in Crysis 2 singleplayer. They sell bananaproucts to us Pcgamers.. and think it will mellow in our computers...

you do not gain anything because you do not need Crysis 1...you already have it. without the optimizations you can STILL play the game....we cannot. This is for the console players who never gotto experience crysis 1...you already have it

...Cryengine 3 is an ""Optimization" of Cryengine 2 if you think about

C3 was made for console in Mind so Optimization was apart of it

if their is anything that Console Teach to Devs is how to Optimization
now just apply them to PC....

to gameplay
Crysis 1 on console Does not Have Speed mode
just Speed Sprite
this alone makes C1 on pc better...
how hard can it be to have all modes on console?
here an simple answer Hold RB it will bring up the Suit Mode Radio than use the Right Stick to select the mode than Let go of RB

How hard was that?? plus!!! we have one more button free up
that can be use for Leaning anything time not just upon cover
or anything ells
