Different Kinds of Jails?

Post » Tue Jul 26, 2011 12:34 am

I haven't seen this interview. I don't know how I missed it but if you didn't see it

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rbnso9CjF28&feature=fvsr

Todd talks about different kinds of jails? What does that mean?
How do you think they'll handle prison?
In the shivering isles they sent you through a series of battles in order to get out.

I was thinking maybe different cities have different correctional facilities that damage different parts of your character.

One city may use torture devices to permanently damage health. While another city uses magical torture to damage magika.

What do you think?

Todd is a very mysterious man, who speaks in riddles. We may never be able to figure out what he means until 11-11-11.

Could depend on the nature of the crime. A killing spree would net you a place in a dungeon awaiting execution, no hope of release you must either be executed or escape. On the other hand taking part in a drunken brawl will land you in the drunk tank for the night. I hope that is what he means.

This. Hopefully the failed execution at the start is a sign that you'll be executed for heinous crimes.

That'll be awesome. Hated to get the same prison for a 5 gold bounty and for 15.000 gold.

I wish they'd elaborate a little more on the crime and punishment, their holding out makes me think they've got something very elaborate in store for us

Although he said there will be different types of jails I'm not sure as a lot of stuff he said in previous games didn't turn out in the final game.

Oblivion had different jails.

Tamriel jail and Shivering Isles jail.

I don't like the idea of a permanent negative effect on your stats. The idea is a bit rough.

Yeah, don't you think it is balancing and realistic? I mean, what is the real punishment for crimes. In Oblivion you could break out, or simply sleep and serve your time. Boring. At least with skill atrophy (plus the ability to possibly gain a stealth skill) there was an actual penalty for your crimes. I think they should just lock you in a room with the adoring fan for an hour (real time). That would keep me from getting arrested for sure.

One for Rebels another for Empire.

Or, within the Holds loyal to the Empire, there might be one jail for criminals, and a second for rebel agitators.

Or, one for Nords, Redguards and Imperials - and a second, more ghetto prison for Bretons, Dunmer, Bosmer, Altmer, Orsimer, Khajit and Argonians.

He probably meant different kinds of jails as in their design, layout and number of NPCs inhabiting them.

I believe he said different kinds of "Jaleels", as in the actor who played Steve Urkel.

If that were the case, why would there only be two?

There are 5 major cities, after all.

Keep in mind bounties are tied to cities now so if the guards catch you in a certain city than you go to their prison.
