A different Land part 3

Duran jogged up to Saturn, "So what do we do with these outsiders once we find the GECK?" Saturn asked Duran, Duran smiled, "Why, if they help us leave them alone, otherwise shoot them," Duran replied, "Though I wouldn't put it past them to take it for themselves, they were hired to grab it." Saturn nodded, "But even if they do give it to us, whats to stop them taking it back with our backs turned?" Saturn asked
"Again, if we feel that will happen, kill 'em." Duran looked forward to Starr and Demetri who seemed to be leading the group, as well as Grin, who would know the best way through the jungle. He looked back quickly to look at Mark, and the guy they resecued, he decided he didn't trust them, no matter what Roy thought. Duran had been his second for eight years now, and this was the worst plan he had come up with, they didn't even know if the GECK was there.

Demetri looked back, he could see Duran and Saturn in conversation, what were they up to Demetri wondered, putting his mind back on the trek, he pushed a low branch out his way and went forward, "Shall we pick up the pace," Demetri said more of a statement then a question.

Mark was carrying the rear of the group, though for some unknown reason he felt safer than at the front. Mark saw Saturn and Duran talking and thought, "I can't hear what they're saying, but something tells me I should give them no reason at all to distrust me or I'll end up with a bullet in my skull. He saw a two-headed deer drinking by a river and shot it dead, carrying the fresh kill on his back. He also saw a huge mosquito being eaten by an even bigger dragonfly on a giant lily pad.

Duran and Saturn seemed to of drifting apart after their conversation, making sure they were spread evenly with Grin among the group, keep watch on them. Demetri stopped briefly and looked at a plant, it was a vibrant colour and easyily noticed, it wasn't something Demetri was accustomed to seeing. Demetri realized where he was and jogged forward back into his spot.

It was clouding over, Demetri looked in wonder, it was rare to see cloud coverage this thick, then out of no where a Deluge of water broke from the heavens drenching everything it, "Now this is a rare," demetri said with a raised voice to be heard over the rain.

Starr felt a drop of water fall on her arm, then more on her head. She looked around to see who was wasting water, but couldn't find the culprit. She felt more drop from above, she looked up and saw the rain. Starr had only heard of rain, and never actually been in it. It felt comforting to her skin.

She kept moving forward, although slower now that the ground was getting soaked.

Duran walked towards Demetri, "There should be a river ahead, with a ford, hopefully this rain fall hasn't made the river overflow," Duran said, "If it is it's a few days walk up river for a next one and it would add days on to our travel." Demetri sighed, "We check the ford, see how bad it is," he said
"Okay then."

The group finally reached the river, the rain had died down, just being little more then a drizzle, looking at the ford, even Demetri knew it was crossable, "So move up river then?" Demetri asked Duran. Duran shook his head, "No, aslong as we don't have another downpour it should be down to a crossable level tomorrow," Duran replied
"So we are here until then?" Duran's answer was just a nod, Demetri went to the edge of the river and looked at it, "Guess this means we rest here then," Demetri said, "Spread out, smoke 'em if you want, seems we are getting some R and R."

The group set up camp, the three Roy sent showed the group how to make a shelter from the vegatation, though by the tme they had finihed the rain had let up. Demetri had walked to the back, leaving his armour and weapons back at their makeshift camp. He cupped some water and splashed it over his face. He rub his jaw, he hadn't shaved so he had stubble at the moment.

Sitting down on the bank, Demetri looked across the other side, seeing a large bird taking a drink from the river. Reaching into his pocket Demetri brought something out his pocket which glistened with the sun shining on it, a set of Dogtags, reading them his name and rank, "Why do I even keep these?" Demetri muttered to himself.

Mark was cooking the deer when he saw Dimitry holding some dogtags. He walked over to him and said, "Where'd you get those?"

Demetri quickly closed his fist around the dogtags hiding the description, "Got them off an employeer," Demetri said, "I was serving as a bodyguard, who'd thought it would of been his own wife that killed." Demetri made this up quickly in his head, not sure if Mark believed him or not.

Mark said in a slightly unconvinced tone, "Ok." Obviously, it appeared that Dimitri wasn't ready to reveal the reason yet.

Henry watched as Nathan took down the big dumb brute with a plasma grenade and Henry thought wow these tribals are sure primitive!. There was no way that Henry was going to get killed by a dumb tribal. They moved past the tribal territory and looking at them Henry thought that they must have mutated to be larger and stronger than usual. They made their way to the radio station otherwise without a fuss as the primitives now worshiped Nathan like a god. Once they reached it Henry saw that the station was fairly well intact and the radio must still work. Inside was pretty dusty but it was as if the people had just left it midway through work. There was a scripts and coffee cups on the desks as well as the corpse of a wastelander and 2 jumpers. There was still ammo inside his gun. Brushing the body aside Henry activated the radio and raised command " This is Sergeant Henry Jones and we have a situation here in Orlando" Henry went over everything that happened over the past week and it all led up to this conclusion " We need to bring everything we got on this city. There's mutated wildlife, Talon Co., mercs, and an entire settlement of people. There's no way we can take the GECK without some heavy firepower!" Henry got a quick response "This is Colonel Autumn, I've thought about it and the Enclave have dispatched vertbirds 1-20 and and assault teams Echo,Bravo,Charlie,Zulu,Alpha,Delta, and Fox. You are to secure that GECK at all costs! Understood?" "Yes sir!" Henry turned to Nathan "Things just turned hot"

Tom had been traveling slightly in front of Mark since they left the Vault-Tec Headquarters. He had pocketed one of those pip-boys before they left, figuring it was a pretty handy piece of tech. With his shotgun, he would have been better for point, but he was to focused on his ribs to adjust his position. The pain was now more of a dull throbbing due to the combined effect of the med-x, buffout, and stimpacks, but every now and then he still coughed blood. He cringed as he thought of the rib that was very possibly jammed into one of his lungs. Tom quickly shifted his thoughts back to the situation at hand. When the rain had started falling, he found himself checking the geiger counter on the pip-boy he took, feeling releived when it lessened before finally stopping, and the group was safetly settled in under the plant shelter. As he settled down for some much needed and well deserved rest, he started taking off his upper body armor and starting to wrap his chest with some of the plants he found. It took him a moment before his armor was back on, and his eyes were drawn to the light glinting off of Demetri's dogtags. As he stashed them, Tom realized the memories weren't the best ones in their 'fearless' leader's mind. Tom let these thoughts fade away as he drifted in and out of sleep.

Mark was sitting by the fire eating venison when the same woodlouse from before showed up and bumped into him. Mark said, "Oh, it's you again. You've been following us since we've gotten back into the jungle, haven't you?" Mark figured that it was probably following them for protection because almost everything that tried to kill them ended up dead. He then heard a loud thump coming from the forest and pulled out his Plasma Rifle as the woodlouse rolled into a ball. Mark glanced at it and figured that only heavy or energy-based weapons could harm it in that state. The culprit turned out to be a gigantic beetle that walked past their campsite and started to eat a tree before taking it with it to eat undisturbed. Mark thought, "Good thing that thing is a herbivore, I think we'd have less trouble taking down the creature." He then lay down and fell asleep, the woodlouse right next to him.

Starr noticed most of the group was settling down at the camp site. Now was a good time to wash the rest of the stinky spider blood from her body and clothes. She walked up stream for a minute or two finding a spot were the current slows. After almost an hour Starr had cleaned all of the dried on blood from herself and clothes. Her knees ached from being hunched over in the river and decided to float down the river.

Almost as soon as Starr had gotten in the river she heard a low growl, then a splash. She instictively got out of the river and took cover looking for what had made the noise. After five minutes of silence Starr slowly made her way back to camp, weapon drawn.

Mark was having a dream about a world where the bombs hadn't dropped when he heard a splash and woke up. He turned on the Pip-Boy light and shined it over the river to see the red eye-shine of alligators. They were too far away to tell if they were mutated or not, but they could be dangerous regardless. Mark had read in pre-war books about American Crocodiles in the Everglades, but they prefered the brackish water of the mangrove swamps to the far south, where it was unlikely they'd traverse during this expedition. He and the woodlouse walked up the riverbank, hands on his machete when he saw Starr. Mark asked, "Any idea what that was?"

The sight was glorious, 20 vertibirds flew over the city and proceeded to shoot up the city and bomb it. All Henry had to do was mark the targets from the tower and the target got destroyed. The vertibirds then dropped off their troops and went back to provde more fire support, resupplying from outpost Echo. The purge of the city had begun, and the towers of smoke began to rise from Orlando. Henry got on a vertibird with an assault team and began tracing the location of the group " Hey are you guys still alive out there? Yep this is the one and only, Henry Jones! Not only am I still alive but I have brought some friends too! You mind telling me where you guys are?" Henry got on the mounted minigun and scanned the forest for any signs of people.

OOC: I think that is a bit much Norman I somehow doubt that our other factions can resist a full scale invasion of enclave most certainly if you go blowing up their major cities.
half of the reason people RP is so ingenuity prevails now if you had perhaps got a smaller group togethor and blown up the building in some sneaky manner it would be impressive but as of now you've destroyed a major hub in the game in a few sentences *sigh* anti-climatic.
as such the forest will now try to eat you.

Nathan was watching as chaos reigned, there had been a thriving community in those buildings.
Nathan was reminded why he did not enjoy working with enclave they were commanded and as such did not question orders compassion was a weakness and while a fair reasoning left it so they killed first and questioned later.
one of the vertibirds smoked and caught fire as the air came alive with flaming mucus "guess there's a reason that I haven't seen another of those birds since my encounter..."
Nathan spoke to himself and mostly got out of the way as enclave troops rushed back and fourth a pair were coming past holding a ripper in both hands apparently widening the trails that snaked through the forest. several spiders jumped the group and drug them off into the dark, a man tried to assist them but one of the trapdoor spiders nests opened up below him and he screamed and it drug him inside.
"Great," Nathan spoke dully "This is just going to attract everyone to the pie isn't it?" a dark shadow passed over him and Nathan witnessed the creature from before flying over him before landing on the other side of the enclave group, a chorus of screams and the sounds of weapon fire told him the rest of the story. Nathan stood closer to a large grouping of soldiers hoping that at the very least the thing would eat them before him.
////
off in the distance a man stood up a large wound on his forehead pulling out a mobile radio he spoke"This is Roy, bring out the gun and rip these bastards a new one."
////
Nathan nearly jumped out of his already loose skin when a truely massive explosion came from the trees off to the left of him. A whistling noise came from the sky and Nathan ducked hoping to not be killed
/////
It rejoiced slicing off the limb of one man that was what they called themselves wasn't it? and spat acid in the face of another before lifting one leg and spearing a third man through the chest. weapons hissed and fizzled on It's skin some of the larger weapons making It need to get out of the way but only after repeated firing and It could stop those swiftly
these armored Men were delicious and It could feel the nutrients strengthening It.
unbeknown to the creature its skin had taken on the texture and color of an old cast iron pot.

OOC oops I might have overcompensated but rest assured I won't make them toooo powerful and I'm only killing the eastern half of the city

The attack was progressing well but, all contact was lost with half of the assault team. Troubled Henry listened to the scattered reports, the troops were getting killed in droves and it was as if all f the city was fighting back. Already 7 of the 20 vertibirds had been taken out and all over the city the attack was losing its momentum.the troops were scattered about. There was a large explosion that ripped up the attack force in half as the men struggled to get up. There was a message on their radio " The Enclave hold no power here!" Indeed the opposing forces matched even the best Enclave forces and the fight was made even harder by a mystery monster that was killing off squad after squad. Henry called for a full retreat and ordered everyone to regroup at radio station and pull out to the forest. It was surprising how much power Roy held in Orlando. Not even the Enclave could mess with him. His power rivaled the NCR here in Orlando. Henry knew that a full on attack wouldn't work any more and the morale was low after being beaten in a real battle by some wastelanders. No the goal was to find the GECK. Henry waited for the response to his radio.

OOC: have to say redshirts are fun to kill regardless of the amount. I'm all for destroying the city that Blackmane must of spend days thinking of but lets make the destruction on a higher magnification less artillery bombings more soldiers fighting close quaters yeah? makes life more exciting.

Nathan watched as enclave fought the creatures of the forest dozens of the intestine creatures that shot acid were now dead and spiders bled out on every surface available, so far the enclave were losing this fight but at the same time extracting a heavy price from the forest inhabitants.
all of the times that Nathan had seen them these people were not bothered by normal wildlife.
Whatever Roy had up his sleeve it was likely that cause of this Roy had the enclave beat in this territory and seeing as nathan was currently with the enclave in this venture it was time to at the very least try and assist. spying a radio station manned by an enclave he walked up and tapped the man on the shoulder, turning the man regarded Nathan with a grimace "What is it?" the man asked acidicly
"I'm the guy that saved the asses of those people in the school."Nathan bit back his sarcasm as it would not help him here "I want to speak to someone in charge" the man froze for a moment something being said on the radio before he handed the headset over Nathan figured that it would be wise to act swiftly with these people so he spoke "I'd imagine that you have already thought of this but the people your fighting are winning because of the environment." Nathan spoke with a brutal tone "burn the trees down and you take that weapon away."
///
Roy sat on a bench as the world went to hell his radio cracked with static "What? you mean they got the Gun?" the man slammed the stone next to him "bring the catapults out of hiding, use the shatter rounds." he pressed the wound on his head hoping the stop the flow quicker "we have the advantage of the forest, I want these fatherless pigs butchered."
in parts the jungle moved as trees jostled to reveal the arms of catapults the rusted barrels they flung exploded when they came into contact with anything sensor modules studding much of the exterior and the forest dwellers rejoiced as they saw the enclave pull back. a man wielding a Sub machine gun shouted "C'mon boys the cowards are runnin' ,aim for the legs!" people died in droves on both sides and the man died swiftly after raising his head from a plasma rifle round to the cranium. the man's killer was then consumed by the sand dune he had been standing on the gargantuan trapdoor spider pulling the man in with one quick motion.
///
It was enjoying itself these creatures in small packs were no threat to it It had long stopped eating but these creatures died in such amusing fashions so It continued to kill
a grunting noise behind it and It screamed as one of the men flung a screaming rock at It, shell vibrated and It could feel pain through It's body this was added to when several more rocks pinged off It's shell before exploding in brilliant fire, fleeing the area It planned further action and decided that any rocks thrown by Men in the future were to be avoided or tossed away.

OOc Great then!

The GECK would have to wait for the battle at hand was too great. Henry stepped outside to see a soldier struggling to brace a door against whatever was behind it. Henry piled his shoulder up against it and tried to hold on but the force behind broke through and set Henry tumbling down to the floor. He looked up to see the Fangs of a spider come down on his head. the fangs couldn't penetrate the power helmet but it wouldn't hold for long. Henry grabbed his combat knife and plunged it into the Jumper's head and its blood spewed all over him. Pulling the head off Henry looked to see the other soldier getting held by a mosquito-like creature. It Shot its tongue into his head, punching a clean hole in his helmet and svcked his brains with a slurping sound. Henry vomited in his helmet and took his laser pistol and shot the tongue off sending the contents of the man's brains splattered all over the floor. Henry ripped his helmet off and wiped the vomit from his face and shot the mosquito again, this time in the head. Henry sat on the ground for a moment and went over what just happened. Henry wasn't new to combat but that was the most shocking thing he had ever saw. He picked up his radio and said" Nathan, there's new bugs out there." Then an explosion made a hole in the wall and it showed the battle. Right in the middle of the hole was a Mantis like creature with what seemed to be metallic skin. Henry only got a brief glimpse of it and it ran away. Somehow Henry knew that the forest really didn't like him.

OOC: hooray redshirts the food of any action RP!
The battle was continuing and nathan fell back with the rest of the troops to the raido station, even that place was a roiling battle and people fired at the skies as flying insects decended on the massive carrion feast that was occurring. Nathan had stolen the raido set and was currently had most of it propped on a sholder. "Great, i'm guessing it flies if you people have flamethrowers now would be the time to start using them." finding a spot in the growing rubble of the radi station nathan started firing on creatures that got close to the station, in a clearing the creature fought a group of enclave before fleeing after five grenades exploded on it simultaneously.

"Don't worry about 'em, only gators," Duran said, "They'll go and rest on the oppisite bank, with the sun going they don't have the heat to keep going." Duran was pretty confident with what he said, though Demetri had taken care to move back from the shore and into the camp, he sat on a rock and ate his part of the meat, cold now and stringy. Tearing part of the meat with his hands beofre eating it, Demetri looked at the dieing sun, against the treeline, it looked tranquil.

Mark looked down at the woodlouse and said, "I figure if you're going to be around I should give you a name. Since you're detrivorious, why don't I call you Det?" "Det" showed no real reaction, but being a crustacean, this was expected. He then said to Dimitri, "What are you going to do when this thing is over?"

Demetri shrugged, "Maybe retire," Demetri replied, "Or maybe head out west towards the east coast, I hear that it's very much united." Demetri thought for a moment, "New Calfornia Republic, or something like that," Demetri added, "They control most of the area and are well off." Demetri added some more fuel to the fire as it was dieing, "What about you?"

((OCC: You mean west, we're on the east coast after all.))

Mark said, "I might retire, or I might stay here in Florida, maybe explore the Keys or even the Carribean if I can find a decent sized working boat. Maybe one of these days I'll even travel to another continent, there's always work for a mercenary/biologist."

((THanks for pointing it out, wouldn't of noticed.))

"There will always be work for mercs in this world," Demetri said, "The need for hired guns is high and I doubt it will lessen, not in our lifetime anyway." Demetri looked out to the river, a few fish were coming out onto the surface and shooting jets of water at some rather large insects which were hovering above the river. Demetri saw one get hit in the wing and tumble to the water, promptly grabbed by the fist who hit it.

"So see you got a new friend, don't get to attached," Demetri laughed, "Suprised it came so close."
