((Well the group as found the location of the possible location of the vault, and engaged with the enclave, the enclave in turn as decided to set up a base of operations in Florida and had a battle in Orland. Roy, the leader of the local people wants the G.E.C.K to help his people.

Demetri looked, silent for a moment or two, "I wasn't a sergent of any old mercurany companies, they weren't even mercs," Demetri was hasitent to say the rest, he had no idea what they would think, staring at the wall for a few moments, "I was a squad a leader, as well as heavy weapons and explosive expert," Demetri said, "I was replaced by a Captian Conti, who decided to send us on a suicide mission, getting my men... my friends killed, of course what he said to us, 'Any who die are dieing for their country." Demetri saw some of the expressions when he said die for their country, it could really only mean one thing.

Mark said, "You were a former member of the Enclave, weren't you?"

Tom had started firing out the windows before any Enclave soldiers had even entered. The tear gas grenades were all it took to get him going. The gasmask he wore prevented it from affecting, the smoking room only symbolizing that the battle had started. The minigun, acting like a mounted weapon, mowed through the Enclave forces outside. Over the gunfire, he became aware of a sort of thundering noise. He whipped around the minigun and saw the creatures stampeding. Tom didn't even pause to take the minigun, hightailing it away from the wall as it was smashed apart by the stampede. He whipped around the assualt rifle and fired behind him as he ran. The mantis had gone through, tearing everything up. Tom paused to fire at it, the .56mm slugs bouncing off it's shell. It turned, seeming almost angry, and charged at Tom. He rolled out of the way. He noticed Mark, Nathan, and Henry get to the elevator, even though they had been fighting moments before Demetri started to help Starr up, and Tom deceided to give them time. He fired at the bug, drawing it's attention away from his two friends. "Comeon you son of a [censored]!" he yelled, more to get it's attention than anything else. He turned his eyes back to Demetri and Starr, yelling "Go! I'll hold it off!" Tom didn't stop firing as he led the thing back torward Enclave troops, whose plasma fire would surely distract it more than bullets would. They dropped down the manhole, and Tom broke into a sprint, pushing his injured ribs to the back of his mind with the mantis on his tail.

Demetri nodded, "I'm ashamed to admit, but yes," Demetri said, obiviously not happy with it, "I'm considered a deserter, I left because for the past few days I was still following them I was questioning what we were doing." Demetri sighed, "The moment Captian Conti was assigned as our commander we started to more and more dangerous mission, mainly which had no meaning, the man just lived for battle..."

Starr didn't know what to think. Demetri had always opposed the Enclave, she couldn't imagine him being one of them.

He probably wasn't in the same situation as I was when I left Talon Company. I don't hate them, they were just doing what needed to be done, she thought to herself.

Starr noticed Tom, Duran, and Saturn had not made it into the underground lab, she hoped that they hadn't been killed.

(OOC: Yeah, i know. I'm not usually on for that much of a time, at least one a day for about an hour. Kindof hard to keep up with you guys)

Tom fired over his shoulder as the mantis took flight. His feet luckily naviagating through the terrain. He brought his face back around as he reloaded, and saw the Enclave troops, some having noticed him, the rest not paying enough attention. They raised their weapons and prepared to fire on Tom before the mantis landed with a thud behind him. It raised it's blade-like arm, swiging it in a arc that would curve up to make sure he couldn't get away. However, Tom's luck from before held, and he made himself do a nutmeg like a soccer ball through the legs of the giant bug. The blade missed and took out the advancing Enclave soldier. The others started firing at it, the plasma fire distracting it from it's original chase. Tom sprinted back to the base, coughing as he did. As he reached what was left of it. He slowed to a walk, coughing hoarsly. Tom noticed the manhole and slid down, landing unevenly and falling on his side. He growled in anger and picked himself up, looking around for the others, seeing the lights and heading over, breathing heavily.

Demetri carried on with his story, "We were ended up being ordered to attack a Brotherhood of Steel Outpost," Demetri said, "Ended up in a bad way, we got pinned and almost every single soldier I had been fighting with for almost a year were killed, in the end I picked up and left, leaving my gear and weapons I raided our stores at our camp, this armour and gun, used to be their equipment."

Demetri sighed, "If I ever see Conti again he's getting a round to the head, he deserves what I will give him," Demetri said, "I could only see him and his chosen men still fighting when I left, I don't doubt they died, he carry on fighting by himself if he had to."

Mark was suprised at the revelation, but decided not to judge Dimitry for it. He probably knew the depravity of the Enclave more than anyone else, except maybe Henry, but Mark still considered him brainwashed even if he was more liberal than the rest of his brethren. Mark then said, "Your past may not've been the best, but I won't judge you for it."

Starr nodded, she never held anything against Demetri before and she wasn't going to now. He had saved her life many times on this trip.

Starr looked at the scars on her left arm, Demetri's story made them sting slightly. She was getting a little uncomfortable.

What's Henry going to say, or do to Demetri? Starr thought.

"I wouldn't care if you judged me," Demetri said, "No one knows who I am truely, sometimes I feel I don't know myself."

Mark said, "I'm willing to learn." He then said, "Anyone else have some secret that they'd care to reveal at this moment?"

Starr looked at Mark, "I'll take a turn," she said.

"Its no secret I used to work for Talon Company, and I admit I enjoyed doing work for them. I worked for them for almost two years, but I lost the drive to carry on that work after a mission went wrong.

"It wasn't supposed to be a tough job, we were to clear out the super mutants from the mall. To speed things up we were going to into the sewer and maintenance tunnels to blow them away from underneath and enter the capitol building in secret. Three ghouls approached us and told us they knew the tunnels well and could help us for a price. We agreed to it and set up a team that consisted of me, my friends and fellow soldiers, Todd and Greg. After we trekked through the tunnels for almost an hour the ghouls told us this is where we needed to set up an explosive. Greg hoisted me up to the rafters by a rope, when I reached the top, I tied the rope and started working on a bomb to blow the floor out.

"I had finished the bomb and was about to place it and..." Starr's voice started to get shakey as she told the story.

"The ghoul's... Killed Todd... Stabbed him with a sword. Then shot Todd with a high caliber magnum," Starr's voice calmed slightly.

"I think the ghoul's had forgotten about me, because one of them walked off. The other two turned and looked at me, I didn't know what to do, so I threw the bomb I had made at them. It did it's job.

Starr paused for a moment.

"After I had gotten out of the tunnel and reported the disaster I was rushed out of the mall. I was to be reassigned to a different job, finding Little Lamplight for the slavers. For some reason I turned the assignment down, I was done with working for Talon Company, but there's one thing you don't don't do with those guys. That's turn down a job. I don't remember what happened after that, a lot of it was a blur, but I was beaten for denying a job. That's how I got these friends," Starr said as she pointed at all the scars on her left arm.

She had never told anybody her story before, but she felt she had to. She felt different after telling her new friends about herself, she'd left out a few things, but they had heard most of the story.

Henry went over to the group and said" Demetri, the only reason I'm not shooting you for being a deserter is because you were my squad leader at that battle and you kept me alive, you may not remember me but I remember you. I was a radio operator and got shot early on and was shipped off to the hospital that saved me from the second wave. They got cut down where they stood! Anyway we're in no condition for fighting amongst ourselves right now so we should look around here and see what we can find." Henry took off his helmet whose lens had been shattered by Mark's machete . Henry walked around and saw a sign that said "Storage vault" the GECK... hmm Henry turned and said "Hey! There could be something useful in there we can use." Henry noticed all the blood and skeletons laying around. Something must have gotten to them " His gaze led him to a terminal that said Research Log

"Maybe you were better off," Demetri said to Starr, then turning to Henry, "Heh, good to see some survived it, still doesn't me I'm pleased to be here with you." Going over to the research terminal Demetri looked through it. Finding certian notes from a Doctor N. Douglas, he selecting them and over a loud speaker.

"Well it's been three months since we've been in the vault, we were asked to continue our research on combining animal DNA, it was going to be an alternative to F.E.V if that failed. It's gone well so far, a few rats have grown larger and taken on attributes of the dog DNA we used with it, it now has canines and seems to have grown larger as well, the use of the G.E.C.K on other rats has proved worthwhile, speeding the transfomations faster."

"We have spent fifteen years on this reasearch, no more breakthroughs, we tried on some of the vault resisdent's but they have all died, the G.E.C.K not helping at all."

"Twenty years in this god forsaken Vault and we have finally done it, a human mixed with multitude of insect DNA, the creature also shows rapid adaption to it's enviroment."

"The creature escaped, someone was messing with the G.E.C.K and it's affected some of the vault plants we use to brighten the place up, they are expanding at an alarming rate and have allowed the creature to escape by weaking the cell we were keeping it in."

"Everyone else is dead, ripped to shreds by that the creature, I saw it rip of Lenards arms like nothing, I can hear it, looking for me, this is my last entry."

"Well that explains that creature," Demetri said

Mark said, "Yeah, but that doesn't even begin to tell us how to kill it."

"That clears up a lot of things and now I've got an idea. The Enclave doesn't need the entire GECK so perhaps we can make a deal to split the components. That way we can avoid further arguments, it must also mean that there is a vault hidden under the base so I can probably use the research to make up for not having the entire GECK. So, what do you say?" It may not work but it'll be easier than having to fight for the GECK

"I thought the vaults were for protecting people, what were they doing experimenting on them?" Starr said innocently.

"Seems not," Demetri said, "It does answer the question why a few vaults I've come across are not inhabited, I generally didn't go past the blast door, they all had this wrongness about them."

Turning to Henry, "Our job is to retrive a whole G.E.C.K, not just it's [censored] battery."

As if to reiterate what Demetri said Starr answered, "We need the whole GECK Henry, besides are you postive you have the tools and resources to reconstruct the parts we'd take?"

Starr was getting worried, she still could hardly move, and there wasn't much cover in this lab. They would have to reach a compromise, or someone was going to be killed.

"Yes with the amount of DNA research and the Enclave's industrial capacity we can surely get what we need but the most critical component is in the GECK. Perhaps there's something the enclave has that we can trade?"

Mark said, "And how do we know that your superiors won't just shaft us in the end, and everyone gets screwed over?"

"I'm not sold on the idea, and I don't think the Enclave can give me what I want. They don't have the caps, our employer on the other hand was able to rebuild a train, and re-do miles of tracks without the Enclave noticing. How powerful do you think your reach is on "your country"?" Starr said, her last words blooming with sarcasm.

She had no idea why she was being so pushy when she wasn't even able to fight. She started to sweat, it was almost midday. Starr took off her black shirt revealing a white tank top she'd been wearing underneath. It cooled her slightly, and showed more scars on her left arm.

"The enclave has nothing I truely want," Demetri said, which was true, yes he worked for caps, but that was to make himself a living he was good at, not because he wanted the money, he wanted something far more which he had no control over. "And as said, you'll shaft us, most of the enclave officers don't get their be clean, you need to be an ass kisser or find dirt on another to get a quick promotion, why I was never gotten past Sergent."

"Good point but I think sometimes in order to get things done you have to do it discreetly. Meaning you won't get shafted if they don't know about it. Times have changed since you left the Enclave, Demetri. There are rumors of a power struggle and I think we can be expecting a leader who will bring great change. The Enclave has been building up forces in order to reclaim most of the wasteland and this mission is to help pave the way for reclamation of the wastes. With my recent promotion to the Commander of the Enclave in Florida I can promise you at least safe passage to the NCR and a stable living."Henry paused, this may get him in trouble with command but he was sure he could get away with it.
