OOC I didn't change anything right? I just slowed things down a little to make my post, nothing important. Surely the messenger had already played their part and was disposable. Do you want me to change my post? I plan for me to join your group soon.

((I would like all three messangers alive, I may have an idea for them later, which started forming the moment Movingtarget actually gave the nickname crone to the old women.

And well if you don't mind, I want the train to keep running, so we can get to Florida slightly quicker, also it allows for character building whilst still keeping the group on the move))

OOC no I want the train to keep moving along the c4 part was just to slow them down for a few minutes I you could've just fixed it in a sentence( I didn't want you guys to leave me behind) so that I could do something oh and the messenger is still alive just a little roughed up so now the story may procede.

The moved along as planned and Henry realized that the c4 charge didn't go off. Ah well at least I didn't get left behind thought Henry. They had let the messenger go off but Henry thought that it may have some repercussions as "the employer" wouldn't like his people get interrogated. It was not the best course of action and the mistake may have been costly.Checking to to see if his team was ok, Henry saw that one of the members ere missing! He must have gotten captured while they were sneaking around on the train! Even worse it was the CO!

OOC: and we have had three messengers with decreasing age as the have met us.... Cool that you took my oblique reference and ran with it.

An innocent question and Nathan was flustered What had made him come on this trip? Nathan was not a man for adventure he had gotten that out of his system in his long "life" before nor was he all that interested in caps as caps bought one of two things in this world sustenance or protection Nathan lacked in neither. After having heard that old woman's speech though Nathan felt a pulling on him to continue this journey.
Already he had found one person who could at the very least understand the difference between him and the blood-crazed sewer creatures that were his kin and others seemed to be ambivalent about the idea, Nathan had always stomped down the thought of companionship with humans for the years he had turned, for whom of them would be desperate enough to speak with a ghoul. Speaking with his kind carried a stigma when you were not one of them so making friends with was a one way street when it came to groupings of humans.
Considering his words Nathan responded "I came because I felt that this group at the very least would tolerate me, no matter what I do I know that my efforts will be considered nothing when payday comes so at the very least this job seems to have some promise of a solid paycheck for once." Nathan chuckled and held off a coughing fit before continuing "well that and the raiders usually try to shoot me before they pay me and it does not make for repeat customers."
Feeling that he had given enough of an answer for the man to chew on Nathan turned his attention on the rest of the group.
Finding that people were beginning to move again, he sighed "damn" was all he said. Nathan had been so looking forward to sleeping but it seemed that Mr. RAOOS was an easily influenced type, what with the dangerous environment and ghost story quality of the place they were in. Well that and the fact a woman was telling him to move out. it was the bleeding wasteland why were they so afraid of a bunch of cannibals? Nathan had seen dozens of them either ignorant or not of the kind of food they consumed.
Nathan could say that of all his life seeing a working train was likely on of the most significant memories he would ever have. The dozens of vehicles in various states of decay strewn about the wasteland did not even begin to compare to the majesty of a working train but, Nathan knew all was not right when he heard a humming coming from the from engine compartment "A nuclear powered train" he muttered hoping it was just to himself as Nathan did not want to create tension about the mode of transportation.
This revelation worried Nathan to a great degree he had seen Nuclear car batteries render swarms of Ferals to hunks of meat no bigger then a Nuka-Cola bottle before so, one that could power a steel titan such as a train made him wonder if he would end up as ghoul soup with diced chunks or ash first. This line of thought led to the question of how this mysterious employer intended to keep the train rolling as while yes the train tracks were still there the rail spikes that secured them had been uprooted for the most part, scrutinizing the rails he saw dots of silver on the corroded iron rails "New spikes" Nathan spoke to himself, if this was how it looked down the line it would have had to be planned five years in advance at the very least.
Nathan boarded the train taking a place next to Mark the man he had been speaking to earlier.
"Seems as though i can never finish conversations with you can I?" Nathan asked rhetorically before sitting down across from the man with a dried skewer of squirrel missing a leg in one of his hands,Nathan shoved his bag into a luggage rack above his head before sitting back down, feeling awkward Nathan then pointed the skewer in Mark's direction "Would you like some?"

Mark said, "Sure." He then took some of the squirrel and ate it. He then said, "Our employer definitely has some serious connections, doesn't he?" He could see the new railway spikes and felt a strange humming, it's origin unknown. Mark then asked Nathan, "Got any idea what that humming is?"

Nathan was surprised that the man mentioned the humming as most would be too awestruck by the train and the idea of being a working vehicle, but Nathan being the superior type of ghoul he was recovered the conversation swiftly.
"This thing seems to be powered by nuclear batteries, the only thing I have ever heard hum like that is the ones inside burnt out vehicles in the wastes"
Nathan paused then thoughtfully added "well right before they explode that is." crunching down on the squirrel leg he had been chewing he continued
" I figure most on here won't have any issue with being in a potential metal deathtrap but I severely hope that no one is stupid enough to try and tamper with this train."

Tom had drifted off to sleep briefly, but now he woke up with a headache. The humming of the nuclear batery penetrating his ear drums and feeling as if it was bouncing around in his skull. He sighed and leaned over to look out the window. The first thing he noticed was how fast they were going. In the wasteland, you could only move as fast as you could run. Tom wondered if the broken hulks of vehicles in the wasteland could have gone so fast. 'That'd make things a whole lot easier' he thought, his mind's eye visualizing himself driving a car, speeding around the wasteland and mowing down super mutants. He focused back outside and noticed that although the tracks were made of old, rotted wood, the spikes were brand new. Tom layed back in his seat again, resuming his former position. 'Someone's been preparing for this trip' he thought gravely.

((Kenny and MAD-MAX, if you think you can add your character to the stroyline smoothly, then feel free, though I don't want progression to be stopped too much.))

Demetri went to a diffrent seat this time, sutible for about five people to sit along running down the side of the train, laying on it, it had about an hours rest, it was not peaceful, trying to sleep with a strange noise is not always easy. Sitting up he slouched over looking to the floor, he was getting increasingly nervous.

Seeing as the group had not came for him. Henry realized that the CO must have been left behind at the caves. That made Henry the leader now, Henry thought at this rate it is no longer possible to maintain secrecy while staying at maximum strength. As it was they were down to five people. So after talking it out and deciding that it would not mess the mission up they emerged from their hiding spot to talk to the travelers. They came with their hands over their heads and a white (almost grey) cloth. They were greeted with shock and surprise, many went for their guns and only the fact that they were putting up a white flag stopped them from killing Henry immediately. "We wish to talk to your leader" said Henry, "We have a proposition to make."

OOC: It seems that we have left behind half our crew, ought we to wait a bit before the train starts moving to allow others to post?
or should we just have them post continuing from their last and filling in from there to allow them to catch up?
my mentioning of the nuclear batteries is because I doubt turning one of those on then back off would be a good idea.
also my apologies if I am adding too much to your train Blackmane, just trying to keep it interesting.

((OOC: Don't worry, your character is just questioning the stability of the train, and it would most likely run on nuclear power, and as it;s gone through, the employeer is intrestling resorucefull.

Normon, think you could come up with something else, it could make it far more intresting, as I said the employeer is rather resoruceful, if people want add stuff to this mysterous character which no one has met, it isn't just me making the plot, so go ahead.))

OOC: Makes sense for stops to be necessary for at the very least maintenance on the engine and if not for food and water.

Nathan was currently frozen, the piece of squirrel he had been chewing on dropping out of his gaping jaw and landing on the cabin floor ,Enclave troops, Holy *$%ing flapjacks they were in trouble. Nathan was the type of person who liked to know things so he had heard all the ghost stories about the enclave and ideas on who their leader was ranging from some christian holy figure to a man called Elvis, there was even one that said he was a computer but no one believed him. These people had become the Boogymen of the wastes arriving in silence and leaving only the fused glass of the wastes as proof of their passing.
Nathan had such a piece of glass from surviving an enclave raid on the Raider encampment he had bartered a nights rest in. Even with prior warning in the form of the half-awake screams of raiders as they were cauterized to death or the deadly hiss of plasma barely allowed him to escape with his life by burrowing into a broken pile of wood and staying there for most of the night.
Nathan knew right then and there that this trip had become far more dangerous, and his luck continued to plummet, A whine of servos and a few screams of steel grinding past steel then the center of the cabins roof flipped replacing the previous faux wood paneling with an odd amalgamation of a sentry turret and a combat shotgun the continuing clicks told him that at the very least several more were placed in the train. The fact that these turrets were here meant that someone was watching them, Nathan had no idea from where. This vehicle would stay in their "glorious" benefactors hands, with all this pre-war tech Nathan at the very least was feeling that this was a trip he would not likely come back from.
turning to his companion Nathan spoke quickly "I'm not sure what you think of the enclave but I don't particularly remember seeing these spooks at the saloon back in megaton" reaching for his bag and pulling out his smokes in hopes to calm himself for some rational thinking time did not work unfortunately, "damned traitorous body." he ground out before reaching for his gun but stopped as presence was at the door at the door turning he was greeted by a gruff man "We wish to talk to your leader" the enclave man made a show of waving a graying cloth, "We have a proposition to make." Nathan considered his words before responding "I don't think anyone has been deiced an in effect leader but I'm assuming the person that organized this is not on the train as he wasn't the last three times he needed to converse with us so whatever your proposition I doubt you'll get to negotiate with him until later." looking up Nathan added "I also doubt that our employer is much for negotiation either way, what with the amount of caps he has thrown into this venture already so you might as well find a cabin and sit down before these weird turrets start firing."

Mark took a look at the turrets and the Enclave and said to Nathan, "Well, I wasn't expecting this, our employer seems to be prepared for any complication, doesn't he." Then he said to the Enclave soldiers, "Now I don't like your kind for your genocidal tendencies, and I certainly wouldn't mind if these turrets eviserated you, but I dislike senseless violence, so let's hear your proposition."

Demetri had decided to move forwards in the train, further away from their new "guests", trying to make sure he wasn't noticed, seeing the turrets he shrugged, knowing they would keep them busy.

The white flag normally wouldn't have stopped Tom. There would have been five dead enclave soldiers dying the train's rug red. However, he was in a group now, and his actions had reprocusions on all of them. All he did now was to point the sawed-off shotgun on his hip at the back of the nearest Enclave soldier's head. He had set aside his rifle, and deceided the closer weapon would be more effective. Tom didn't trust Enclave. He still recalled nights that he had observed an Enclave squad murdering a group of Ghouls. On nights when he was better equipted, with tech he had found on his lone recovery missions, he would wipe them off the face of the earth. Other times, he would grit his teeth and walk away. Personally, Tom didn't want to hear any propositions, but he waited polietly for the others to make their decisions before he splattered the windows with brain matter and bits of helmet.

Starr slowly lifted her head from sleeping to see what all the commotion was.

Groggily she said, "I'm trying to slee..." She cut herself short when she saw the backs of the new threat on the train. She thought to herself, Who are these guys?

Slowly she reached under the seat and grabbed her M4, slowly sliding back the cocking handle. They hadn't noticed her yet. She flipped the selector from safety to full-auto. Then Starr noticed something, the train's ceiling had now revealed turrets. Almost as quietly as she had picked up her weapon she set it back down, and slouched a little lower in her seat.

This job was getting more complicated every minute.

OOC writers block!

Henry was greeted by hostile replies but they were willing to hear them out "
This employer of yours, how do you know he'll even pay you. Why work for him when the Enclave the very willing to put you all on a payroll? At any rate we'll get there faster if we all work together. The reason this train is underground and so advanced is because this was an old secret military train, designed to ship supplies up and down the coast even after the bombs hit. We also have reason to believe one of our own was captured form the train station. We'll join you until we've got the GECK, then it's time for payback. I won't force upon you the decision until its time. But think about it" After making his proposition Henry sat down on the train, the mission just got a whole lot harder. He looked at the map, Next stop: Fort Bragg.

"Don't trust them," Demetri said from his seat, not getting up or even turning to face them, "They'll do what he is describing, I rather trust a deathclaw to not tear me limb from limb." Demetri pulled his pistol from his holster and placed it on the seat next to him, see another station coming in.

Moving back to the front with the control panel, "Are we stopping?" Demetri asked.
"Yes, we need to make some last minute checks, specially if those enclave bastards were on board," the driver replied, Demetri nodded and watched the locomotive come into the platform.

A million thoughts started running through Starr's head.

Constant pay would be nice, and these guys look like they know their stuff too. Its a tempting offer, but so is the pay for completing this mission... But I can be a soldier again...

She asked, "What IS the Enclave?"

"Bastards thats what," Demetri said, "You must of heard the radio occasionally, they consider themselves whats left of the American goverment." Demetri explained, "Bunch of toss pots in my opinion, they go around wiping out all those who are impure, even the slightest of mutation sets you up for the executioner's axe."

Now Tom stood and walked over to Henry. He raised his shotgun and held it to his head. "Your missing man, is not our problem." He said quietly, the first time the others in the party had heard his voice "We have something else to do, and Enclave soldiers getting someone's back means they paint it with plasma." Tom's face remained placid the entire time he said this, even as they Enclave soldiers pointed their weapons at his back "If you want our employer, wait until we get paid, then do whatever you want, but for now, go back to what you know, go slaughter some innocents."
