Different Nick Valentine Long Time Coming Bug

Post » Fri Jan 15, 2016 2:38 pm

After I completed Dangerous Minds, Nick told me his background and gave me his personal quest, including the holotape he held. I didn't go after all the tapes right away; I decided to pick them up as I made my way to different areas of the map for other missions. So now, 30+ hours of gameplay later, I finally have the last tape. Except now Long Time Coming has disappeared from my Data Quest list, and talking to Nick doesn't give me a dialogue option to tell him about the tapes. In fact, I didn't realize the significance at the time, but at some point he stopped asking about progress on the tapes. Was there a time limit to the quest, or did I hit a different bug? Any ideas on how to progress the quest? I've tried using a console command to resetquest using ID MS07C, but that did nothing.

I still need help with this issue. Either I didn't use the reset quest command correctly or it is not the solution to my problem. Anyone with ideas?

I had Long Time Coming stuck in my journal for over a week - possibly over 20 hours of game time (it's a really annoying quest because you have to visit all those places spread out in all directions), and when I finally got the last one I just spoke to him and it was under the "Talk" option. He was my companion for most of that time, although I don't really recall him saying much about those tapes even when I picked them up and played them.

Can't imagine why the quest would have disappeared from your journal - the only thing I can think of is that somehow over the course of the tape collection you angered him so much that he now refuses to follow you anymore. Not sure if there's any other way to fail it - it certainly shouldn't expire.

I still seem to be at high affinity-- he calls me a good guy, the kind the world needs more of, etc., so I don't think it's an affinity issue. The quest is just gone, like I never received it. I think maybe that's why reset won't work, because the game thinks it was never triggered to begin with. I would try to reset the final stage of Dangerous Minds to see if Long Time Coming triggers, but I'm not sure if that would mess up the main quest line, which I've already advanced quite a bit. But I'm too OCD to give up on a companion quest, especially since I like Nick's backstory and quest. Suggestions?
