Different races as NPCs in Daggerfall?

Are all the NPCs Bretons? I am thinking about the ones you meet in towns. I haven't seen any Argonians in any towns, for instance.

I do not think there is an Argonian as a NPC. Kind of in the same boat with High Elves, Bosmers, and Khajiits.

Bretons, redguards, and sorta dark elves are about all the races you'll see. There's differences in the bretons and redguards based on area, but that's it.

IIRC, Bri'itsa (sp?) is elven, probably a High Elf.

That's kind of annoying, that you don't have more variety than that.

Sometimes in dialogue mode people will be revealed to be a different race than the standard. Like some blonde women (who in normal view all look the same) are obviously bosmer or high elves when you talk in dialogue mode because you can see their pointy ears.

There are Orc NPCs, but they're mainly story-oriented characters.

You get to see Barenziah, Helseth, Morgiah, and Karethys in the court room of Wayrest. Even though they're Dunmer, they just appear as humans with slightly darker skin tones. Well, the latter three also have red eyes in their portraits, but Barenziah looks completely human.

I've grown fond of her that way, though. Tribunal Barenziah didn't feel right.

I believe that bunch was orginally meant to be dark elves, they just screwed up on the npc graphics. If I remember there use to be a unofficial patch out there that fixed that.

Yeah, that's right andyfall, actually it was a mod, but thanks to the open programming of the game, you could replace the orginal textures with the ones from the mod.

Yes, by using AndyPic you can swap graphics around at your leisure. I didn't care much for his modified version of the characters though, I believe they were a bit too light.

Oh, and has anybody else noticed that all the townies in Sentinel (the town, not the kingdom) are Bretons? What's going on? Is this the High Rock Embassy of Hammerfell? :stare:

Yeah, if you go to a random town in sentinel though you see a lot of redguards
