7 Different types of landmass? Which have we seen

Post » Sun Sep 25, 2011 10:10 pm

Todd told us around E3 I believe that there were 7 or 9 different types of soils/land types (please help with the exact number).

The real question is how many have we seen and how many are still a mystery?

Part 2 to the question is what are your educated guesses to what the land types will be.

I also remember him saying that there were 2-4 MORE different types than Oblivion (exact number help again).which is great IMO

I am very excited about this because the first views showed only snow and it's nice to know there is a variety!

EVEN links of different land types would be great

We've only seen a very small portion of the game world. And you left out tundra.

Mountains, pine forests, steppes, tundra, volcanic tundra, ice fields, and seasonal forset. I think those are all the ones we know right now.

I din't know there were steppes, that sounds cool. And the ice fields are also a glacial area right? Oh and the canyons by Markath.

Yea, in the OXM article there was a picture of an archer shooting a huge dragon in a steppe-like biome and another picture of an icefield

Well http://skyrimguild.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/01/Skyrim-map.png lists 8 environment types.

They are:

Canyon
Tundra
Tundra Marsh
Volcanic Tundra
Fall Forest
Pine Forest
Mountain

As for which ones we've already seen, if that map is accurate, the only ones we've seen in much detail are
http://cdnstatic.gamesas.com/akqacms/files/tes/screenshots/MountainForestPath.jpg
and
http://gaminghud.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/07/elder-scrolls-skyrim-whiterun-exterior.jpg

However, there have been glimpses (in screenshots and the initial trailer) that we can at least assume are of the other environments.

We may have seen others (and I may have forgotten some really obvious examples), but it's difficult to say.
