Different types of Prison

Post » Wed Mar 30, 2011 6:43 am

When i saw this, i assumed it meant something along the lines of architecture. After thinking about it again, however, does this mean that there could be something along the lines of:
1) County Jail
2) Royal Prison
3) Imperial Prison

The sentence and location depends on the crime, a simple trespassing resulting in a night at the county jail and a murder, several weeks at the Imperial Prision. Any other ideas or types of Jail that you can think of?

Maybe some are easy to escape while others are totally unescapable?

Also, maybe some are total isolation, while others let you talk to other prisonners?

ya and isolation makes me think about a prison on top of a mountain somewhere, maybe instead of a wall just a sheer drop

Yea WTB a really epic prison were the a few guards take you in with shackles and go 200 feet down with an elevator to leave you chained up to two boulders that would be awesome like from Kung Fu panda! And more than you just sleep in this bed and your skills go down that was just dumb....

At a minimum, wouldn't the two different factions of the civil war need to have very different sorts of prisons? (Imperial vs. Rebel conspirators) Or maybe the Imperial loyalists have one sort of prison for petty crimes and a different, harsher one for murderers and rebel agitators?

Perhaps the necromancer/dark brotherhood/thieves factions have their own sort of nefarious imprisonment for faction members in disfavor whom they are not ready to kill?

i would like it if in prison it was kind of like an actual part of the game. you are in prison and you get to do prison stuff, like go to the yard etc.
OR
this would be awesome, instead of being a prisoner you become a slave and get sold to become a gladiator! i just LOVE the show SPARTACUS so much i relate everything to it!!!
OR
there could be a minigame/segment kind of like in splinter cell: double agent where you have to escape from prison :) i also LOVE the SPLINTER CELL franchise, a lot!!!

I'm guessing things like debtor's prison, local jail, and a big maximum security national prison for the worst offenders.

Probably small city jails...

And one giant horrible dead man's chest style prison of doom and misery :shakehead:

When I reflect back on the insanely high bounty I got during one playthrough in particular, I would have to agree that that character deserved a whole new category of prison for the horrible crimes he committed.

I agree. If you murder 10 people, you shouldn't be thrown in the local jail along with the drunks and apple thieves.
I want a special maximum security prison that is walled off and is well protected by guards and attack dogs. Escape should be 5 times as hard as the local jail, but you only go there if you do multiple felonies.

I'm thinking that besides county prisons and high security prisons there will be different prisons specifically designed to keep your class confined. I'm speaking directly to mage characters. Escaping from jail in previous Elder Scrolls games was easy if you were a competant mage so I infer that the developers would want to make it more challenging this time. It would make a lot a sense lore wise as well, "That Festerin' Witch took mah cloothes!". Nords in general don't seem to be particularly mage tolerent so it would make sense that Skyrim would have mage only prisons.

In real life prison time gets you street cred in gangs, etc. It could be the same way in SR, thiefs, etc will be more likely to trust you if you have been in jail. And get rid of the stat hurting thing, just fine the person. That would make people not just reload instead of going to jail and make jail a lot more interesting.

They probably added new prison types in response to all the people that would just decide to slaughter everyone in the Imperial City and rack up millions in bounty. The guards wouldn't realistically give you the option of just serving some time and then getting out if you mass murdered everyone in a city for no reason lol.

That would be an awful idea. From a gameplay standpoint it'd rock but putting all the mages in one prison is practically asking to get fu'd by a tsunami of ass-kickin' magic. XP

I digress.."She turned me into a newt!"

It would be funny if you could get a day in the stocks as punishment. The mighty Dovahkiin being pelted with rotten tomatoes. I also think there should be a drunk tank where you get thrown after a tavern brawl and released in the morning.

Thats will be nice if there will be more difficult prisons then they was in Oblivion, more secured so prison breaks will be really interesting,
PC bounty account in what kind of prison will be put, so if player was arrested for small crime its will be simple city jail while for really horrible crimes and with large infamy will be putted into high security prisons what really hard to escape.

Depending on the crime, I'm thinking the prisons will be like a local, county, state and federal type of thing.

Different escaping difficulties in differnt prisons for different magnitudes of crime would be amazing. If I go on a murdering spree I want to get locked up in a tamreilic Colditz. I really enjoyed prison escapes in Obivion when they weren't even scripted or structured, so proper scripted escapes would be extreme.

It would be cool to have a Great Escape style side mission, or event 'escape missions' in each of the Prisons which vary in difficulty and success rate. There should also be some system or process you can go through to not be recognised by guards when you break out.

Very good idea - this can actually make players want to go to jail!

This got me thinking, maybe they could make going to jail (IF caught) a side mission, like the gladiator thing, where you need to work your way out, and you could become famous this way.
Or something to this effect.
