Differing Varieties of Goblins

Post » Thu Nov 04, 2010 5:46 pm

I thought of this idea after reading the word 'hemoglobin'. Well, 'hemo-' means blood (iirc) and globin looks like goblin, so I just thought "BLOOD GOBLIN!" And I decided the idea was decent enough to use as a suggestion, so, here I am.
The premise is that - if goblins are in Skyrim - there would likely be snow goblins, and I'd hope they would take more damage from fire. (or rieklings. Are they goblins?) My idea is that there would also be some sort of weakness for blood goblins, who would take increased damage from frost, rather than fire - an opposite, if you will, of the snow goblins. (The idea could probably swapped with some sort of fire goblin, but blood sounds more fitting. And plus, I think hemo-goblin sounds cool) The idea is that perhaps these Blood Goblins could be more than just a regular tribe which had one shaman at it's top, but a more magical species. Mage like blood goblins would be far more common ( probably at the 'uncommon' stage of rarity, out of: very common, common, uncommon, rare, very rare) but it wouldn't be incredibly difficult - the weak cannon fodder goblins woud have something of the power of an iron shortsword, but the higher up the hierarchy they went, the stronger their spells are. They could have something similar to an Atronach (birth sign) and if you used magic on these enemies, the more magicka/skill they have. They would have some regular fighters too, and possibly they could use weapons with some crappy enchantments, like an Iron dagger with 5 fire damage or they could have an abundence of poisons. I'd imagine these 'blood goblins' to be enemies of the rieklings, too.

Lol would remind me too much of Science class, im good on the hemoglobin name, but different verietys of goblins sound good to me,
Same with all creatures
But you would have to be lore accurate, for the most part, bethesda is lore accurate. You cant just be like "oh skyrim will have all these new species just for here never before heard of in lore"
It would take away from the history of TES which is an important thing to consider

^^ Im all for this. Same species, stronger variations.

Like the Kajiits kind of:

Senche-raht
Larger and slower than the Senche, the Senche-raht are also possessed of a shorter body-span and straighter legs. The average Senche-raht stands as tall as two Altmer and can weigh more than fifty. Like the Senche, Senche-raht are also employed as steeds, notably in battle, whence they earned the title "battlecats" from Imperial troopers.

Yes, one: normal goblins. And snow goblins/rieklings - last time I checked, they were certainly in the previous games. (Bloodmoon was rieklings and snow goblins was Redguard, iirc - they may be the same)

"Blood Goblins?" Bleah. Not seeing the appeal, sorry. Now maybe Knob Goblins, like in Kingdom of Loathing... :D

It's only a quick thing I thought up. I thought it'd be interesting, as I feel there aren't enough mages that are not NPCs.

Didn't they have little bit of variation of Goblins in Oblivion? Skirmishers, Berserker and what not? They also had their armour vary as well so each Goblin had a different item look to them.. But I would prefer some subtle differences, perhaps actually get Clan wars instead of a pointless little quest-line as well, I mean I'd love to be able to cause wars, or perhaps even have the war as a random event anything! lol

But in all seriousness I'd love Clans to have their own certain style, instead of decals, perhaps have it so Goblins(if any) in the volcanic tundra have a slightly different appearance to one in Fall Forest.

edit:

I swear I heard that Rieklings were actually descendants of Falmer... Likely have it wrong, but I swear I heard something on the lines of that.. Perhaps some Nord rumours in Solstheim.lol

No Goblins. We are in Skyrim so there needs to be Rieklings.

From the Wiki:

Rieklings

Riekling Raider (a Riekling riding a Tusked Bristleback)
Riekling (with background area)Foul creatures. Some call them the Falmer, claim they are related to the other elves. This I do not know, but they are vile. Some are intelligent enough to speak, but they speak only nonsense. — Risi Ice-Mane

Description: These little creatures reside in the coldest region of Solstheim and are often met in packs of five or more. Whilst one is easy to fend off, a group can be a deadly threat.
Found: Common in the colder northern and northwestern region of Solstheim.

EDIT: Honestly I'm hoping to see all the Bloodmoon creatures back.

Thanks for clearing that up...
But for the Bloodmoon creatures, I believe Horkers are back, I guess Spriggans are pretty much guaranteed in any TES game now, Bears and Wolves are pretty much a definite with them being in Oblivion aswell as Bloodmoon but the rest I hope are in aswell, especially Grahls.

Weren't berserkers, etc, just like higher leveled goblins though? There was not much difference. And yes, the idea of dfferent looking and acting goblins is kinda what I'm getting at, and if similar ideas to mine were implemented, not all goblins would be uninteresting cannon fodder. (some would be interesting cannon fodder! Har har har)

Yes, more variations of all creatures would be great. For example, hunting. I'd like to see varying types of deer...male/female, fawns, varying levels of antlers, varying colours of fur etc. Maybe even elk, moose, and such. Be nice to have some creature variety I think. I think it would also be cool to see creatures sometimes fighting amongst themselves. Many of them are hostile after all, or will possibly be vying for a mate :D
