Difficult on Normal Mode or harder? * SPOILERS *

So far I'm at the part in the brotherhood questline where you have to find the three holotapes. I've found everything that I've done recently to be very difficult. For example, that slave camp that Caesar was at would've been down right impossible to go through without going on very easy mode. It's probably because of my armor ( still in Van Griff armor that you get from the Silver Rush Questline and it's in poor condition ), or the fact I'm still using a hunting rifle, or maybe it's just I'm to low of a level to be at this quest line ( I believe I am level 12 ).

Also I found getting to one of the holotapes to be a very difficult challenge. I had to go through the super mutants and they were packing. They all had decent weaponry like an incinerator or some type of machine gun.

And don't even get me started on my encounter with the Boomers...

One of these days I'm going to try to play through on Very Hard + hardcoe with the best build I can find.

Anyone agree that this game is much more difficult than Fallout 3?

Damage Threshold (DT) makes it play out differently, because early on when you have low damage per shot weapons - DT on your foe's armor makes a big difference.

At level 9, I tried to complete the "Booted" quest by rescuing hostages at the Legion camp. Everything was going fine as I was picking things off at long range and getting a lot of sneak kills. Then the Legion Assassins showed up... they play rough. So I think I'm going to wait until level 10-15 before I come back and try that camp again. I'll need stronger weapons, maybe a bit of armor, but definitely higher gun skills.

Some things are really easy though - like killing powder gangers. Or shooting enemies at long range - who then don't react to their comrades falling dead in front of them.

In all fairness, they are a bit better about that in this game than in FO3. They at least go into [CAUTION] mode when someone dies near them (though that may not be the case if you use a silenced weapon, I'm not sure). Not that they're very good at actually looking around for you, of course.
