Difficulty: Dynamic or Permanent

Post » Wed Dec 02, 2015 5:35 pm

Well I at least hope that the change is one directional; in that you can drop the difficulty, but not raise it again ~or... if you can, then it intentionally doesn't count, and the game doesn't record that you played the higher difficulty if you've dropped it during the game ~even if you raise it again later. IMO mixed difficulty settings are a cop-out; especially if the game evaluates/ or adjusts its content based on the difficulty settings.

This would be highly exploitable.

Also highly desirable ~minus the exploits... That would have to be anticipated/fixed.

Find a highly populated area, pump it to survival and go to town. No loot? F5.

This is what I think. It's probably the same damage as very hard. I thought I heard somewhere that it changes how you heal too which is the part I want more clarification on. If thats the only thing that changes than I would rather just play on Very Hard because I find these types of modifiers annoying.

You're not interested in running into more tough enemies that drop sweet loot? :liplick:

TES/FO games since Morrowind/since BGS bought the franchise have never had a permanent difficulty setting. It is doubtful that this will not happen to FO4.

Dynamic. I like a challenge, I do not like tearing my hair out in frustration cuz I'm not good enough to get past some boss.

From what Ive seen, it looks a little too easy to kill the enemies. Idk what setting they play on, but I think I'll raise the setting if I feel its too easy. So I'm glad the option is there.

I'd like the hardest difficulty to be fixed, and the others to be adjustable. Just wandering through the world I don't need to be "managed" by the game in terms of what difficulty I experience. However if I want a real challenge because that's my goal I could start a game on the hardest setting and then it's a dog-eat-dog world with no mercy or second guesses :)

hardcoe was not a difficulty setting, it was more like an annoyance setting.

That said, on pc? With mods that tend to throw various things in that Bork whatever difficulty you have it set on anyway ? Yah variable is handy.

Which reminds me..... Modders? For the love of sanity ? Please don't make items that improve your carryweight quest items.......and then spam them all over the place!

Really wondering if anyone playing has set it to Legendary or whatever. Give me faster humans, Super Mutants more resistant to limb damage, and both taking cover more often; but don't take away lining up the headshot and not killing something because bullet sponges.

Sigh. It's going to be sponges, I know it.

In Skyrim I always increased difficultly during play.

An fixed dificulty would either force me to have an hard time in the start or easy later on.

Only time I have reduced the difficultly was some escort missions in Oblivion at very high level and the time I bought broken steal while going in to the caves behind lite lamplight at high level, suddenly the supermutants was much harder :)
