Difficulty may be closer to fallout

Post » Mon Mar 28, 2011 5:07 pm

In Oblivion i felt like your enemies weren't even enemies just flesh covered punching bags. I never got scared in oblivion to walk into that "Cave" or "Fort" In fallout i actually was like "if i wonder into this building i could die because i only have 3 stimpacks left but it was thrilling. Or I had none left and i was like "ahahahah i'm gonna die". I would really like to feel threatened by my enemies and if i see a giant running at me, i'll feel scared of dying or i'll at least get a LOL at it. Please keep this civil no bashing or being mean. I would like this to be a civilized discussion now please discuss.

idk what you're trying to say but I can say that there is no longer level scaling to the extreme of oblivion's

I certainly felt more threatened/desperate in Fallout during some circumstances compared to Oblivion even though level scaling meant Oblivion was potentially more difficult than higher levels in Fallout. Hopefully they can capture some of desperate excitement you get in Fallout at times in Skyrim! :D

Considering how simple a process it was to horde weightless Stimpacks and instantly heal yourself in any fight, I thought FO3 was a little too easy.

Now if we're talking about New Vegas with "hardcoe" turned on...

fallout new vegas was challenging especially if you went out of bounds early on. fallout 3 wasnt that challenging since most people played on hard or very hard and even had to download mods to increase difficulty.

actually if u played full thief build oblivion actually got to the point of jus insane around lvl 25, and it made FO3 look lik a cake walk. but im glad they r now using FO3 lvl scaling

Fallout 3 was harder because everyone had a gun. Skyrim will need a better difficulty setting than just having hillbillies able to pierce power armour since you won't have to worry about being sniped here.

I will agree with this. Strongly. I will also agree that New Vegas struck the best balance, difficulty wise.

Frankly I hope Skyrim is harder than even fallout.

i like FNV because in the beginning i feel weak. i cant just walk up to black mountain and take on all of the super mutants. I would get [censored]. i hope they do this in Skyrim.

The first time you see a troll, you should wet your pants and run to mummy crying, even empty rooms in dungeons should put the fear of death in you. Proper difficulty is when you can't play the game with the lights off.

F:NV certainly felt satisfyingly challenging early on and overall better than FO3, but it did still have some problems with its levelscaling and pacing. On hard and hardcoe the game still was mostly way too easy - there was never (or in very few spots) any sense of struggle.

Fallout had great balance but I want to be able to scale up the difficulty to where I die from what I would die from in real life but so do enemies. Basically the difficulty should be increased into a realism mode like in L4D 2.

If you design a bad character in Oblivion where you level too much and have horrible attribute levels, I can personally attest that it is terrifying as [censored]. I get killed all the time, and it makes something creeping up on you and then popping into your face a lot scarier, especially in caves, forts, or ruins. Personally I find Oblivion a lot scarier than Fallout 3 though in general Fallout is a lot harder, at least with certain enemy types.

How was Fallouts difficulty different from Oblivion, I saw it as, easy=Enemy has low health, You have High Health. Hard= Enemy has high health, you have low health.
