Just wondering if i run into any disadvantages ordering the collectors edition.
Just wondering if i run into any disadvantages ordering the collectors edition.
Yep, we get to start the game on a Sunday instead of having to schedule a day off for the following Friday.
if you buy a physical copy there's a code the retailer should email or give you to download the client
But the thing is... what if they start shipping at 4.4? Those who pre-ordered the physical collectors edition will have a disadvantage since shippment will take some time and those who ordered the digital edition will be able to play instantly.
edit:
so they send the key for the physical CE by mail? sure?
they would have to open the box to do so, right?
zenimax delivers it to them and they deliver it to us. meh
In this day and age why buy a physical disc anyway? The client will be available for download and the copy on the disc is outdated quickly by all the patches so reinstalling would be faster by download due to getting a more current copy to patch from. I always get a digital download for MMOs.
yes i'm sure about the code/key being emailed to you, no guarantee they will do it on time though.
wait.. does ESO contact me on my EA registered email or the email i purchased it?
"the ESO team will contact you at your account's registered email address" makes it seem like they contact me on my EA account registered email address.
live support told me that they send codes to greenmangaming /mmoga (and they send it to me)
the email you use with the retailer, in my case gamestop. if you using a mom and pop outfit i dunno
ISP limits. Poor bandwith or connection.
Remember even though the discs will still need updating a 60GB download will for most run into hours or more, also depending on load that may increase. The discs make that considerably shorter by (since the game is going to new and not bloated with patch data / expansion content) removing the largest part of any download.
Some people also feel safer with something physical, whether it be accurate or not.
Physical stores also might sell the game cheaper than the digital version (depending on publisher the game may never drop in price).
It looks like physical discs is cheaper then the download from site store for most shops.
Zenimax said they ship the item with the intention of it reaching you ON release day.
I pre-ordered the Imperial Edition at Gamestop, went to the store not online. The receipt had a code on it that I redeemed on my account page. Part of the email I got right after that said:
"We’ll also contact you at your account’s registered email address with information about early game access as we get closer to game release in April 2014."
So it sounds like they will be sending a link to download the game so we can be able to play 5 days early and then redeem the key in the box when we get that.
awesome, i could totally use a disk with my 1.6 mb down connection.
If you are going to pre-order, unless you are concerned about price, you should pre-order from the Zenimax Online Store (Bethesda) because of this:
Early Access bonuses will also be offered to those pre-ordering or pre-purchasing a PC/Mac version. A five (5) day early access bonus will be offered to those who pre-purchase the Digital Imperial Edition or the Digital Standard Edition through https://account.elderscrollsonline.com/store?q=6c4a15ac-4e4b-4caf-a872-558522964248&p=a6196b09-9f99-4f56-b9d6-009c789a4fa0&ts=1391007884&c=zenimaxonline&e=live&rt=Safetynet&h=593788526f99f5bf0870e1da98e4af06.
So even if you order the standard digital edition you get 5 days early access.
