Dinosaurs

Post » Fri Nov 12, 2010 4:14 pm

I know that Dragons are like dinosaurs, but seriously it'd be awesome. Imagine being stalked by a pack of raptors or watching a t-rex fight a dragon. And dinosaurs have been found in Arctic environments. http://www.livescience.com/7733-dinosaurs-lived-arctic.html
I imagine raptors could be the deathclaws of skyrim.

It'd be interesting, though I see dinosaurs making more sense in say, Black Marsh. The Argonians have a dragon-like creature called a wamasus that has lightning for blood. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apatosaurus, anyone?

i would like monsters resembling dinos. something between raptors and zombies. the raptor side would be how they hunt in packs and their claws/teeth/face/tail. zombie= mammals, deadish, pieces of flesh missing

I would prefer fantasy versions of the usual ice-age big beasts; mammoths, mastodons, smiledons, whooly-rhinos, giant bears, dire wolves, giant elk....
But fantasy versions, so all more athletic looking with larger claws, more tusks, more horns, etc.

You can never have too many dinosaurs, and I'd really love them to be in Skyrim. Also dinosaur skeletons (undead). Seems highly unlikely, though. Mammoths, sabretooth cats, wooly rhinos, and their ilk would almost make up for it - especially if we can ride 'em.

Maybe in Valenwood...

I wonder what ever happened to the "Not Related to Argonians" Lizard Men... those guys were kind of dinosaur-looking.

... I bet they totally turned out to be related to argonians, so now they're kept a secret.

Guar would be good to have back...in the warmer places of Skyrim...
But no dinos... it wouldn't feel right...

You don't need a fantasy version for some of those, Whooly Rhinos had a horn over 5 feet longs. Elk with 6 foot wide antlers and the short face bear was just badass.

I would like that but I don't think that they will personally put dinosaurs in the game although they did say that they would being putting undead mammoths and saber-tooth

Yes, the Argonians appears related but it's a different world. However both the clanfear and the daedrot look pretty dinosaur looking to me.

True. And in Morrowind we got them looking extremely comical (I love this game but oh boy did I roared with tremendous laughter when I saw those fricking alits for the first time!)

Ice Age fauna seems to be the way to go this time, but I welcome a few oddities here and there (like horkers; I hope they're in).

Giant elk ftw!

Dinosaurs are really awesome, though we already have prehistoric mammals, so thats good enough.

Even if dinosaurs has been found in colder climate, thats not really the animal you think of. Even if it's realistic theres still a feel of the landscape that, in my oppinion, is more important than having dinosaurs in this particular game. Though, if/when they make anotherone I'd love for dinosaurs to be in, but I'd say for Skyrim dinosaurs would simply be an awesome bonus and not a make-or-break kind of thing.

I'm all for the whooly rhinos and all the other ice age-creatures, though! (And really anything that doesn't look out of place)

By the way: Birds are dinosaurs, counts a little!

I would love to see guars come back, which I always considered some sort of dinosaur-like creature. They'd make great mounts, too, now that I think about it.

Dinosaurs? No thanks. Now, having a few Guar, that would be cool with me. I'd rather have more inventive and fitting enemies than Velociraptors and T-rexes.

Cliff racer is the apex of the bird/dinosaur evolutionary lines!

Don't believe that there is a such thing as game evolution, that mean there wouldn't be game god :sadvaultboy:

Thats where your jokish oppinion is mistaken! There CAN be gameevolution with a gamegod :D (I'm not religious. My characters usually respect the games god, but does not worship them)

And Archeopteryx is much more awesome than cliffracers :P

One thing I'd like: Animls that can both fly and be on the ground. It felt silly to have forever hovering imps and cliffracers. But as dragons can do this, I'd assume that other creatures can too.

On the dinosaurs again: Theres a documentary (The name escapes me) about a hypothetical thesis of how dragons could have evolved. It's all very hypothetical, ofcourse, and the narrator sounds like it's really serious business, but it was enjoyable.

Off topic: Is there any mention of creatures having evolved from something else in the game?

Dinosaurs in an Elder Scrolls game is sacrilege. OK so some of the fauna in Morrowind had a primordial look, reptilian and dinosaur-like, but actually crow-barring a T-Rex or a Velociraptor into Skyrim would be plain lazy. And silly. Mammoths and other creatures relevant to the terrain and conditions is fine, although I would be interested to know just how these fit in with known lore.
