What did you initially do to distract the guests at the Thalmor Embassy Party?

i played it tactically. asked around, and then got my new friend to make a drunken distraction. after that, i just killed everything that moved. pissed i couldn't save the shorty though. he was brave for 'tra-la-la i love trees!' wood elf.

As I was thane of Hjaalmarchl I have just ask the jarl from Morthal to help me. The old lady promptly do the diversion.

Thinking about re-playing all the game with all side quests done. Seems it would be very interesting ask a jarl's help.

I made the drunken nord made some confusion with brela.

But I was stupid enough to don't give the wood elf any of my equipment. So I passed the whole embassy with only a woodcutter's axe you find in the kitchen.

The best thing is: I am master at sneaking and as an Assassin, I could wait the right moment to kill a guard and take a Elven Dagger. That was enough to pass trough all the embassy.

btw, I loved the "hidden spy" mission. No weapons, no armor... only sneaking and knowledge. Took about 1 hour!
