Direct X 10

Post » Thu Jun 02, 2011 8:00 pm

I know i know... "who cares about Dx 10 !" some will yell.

But many many gamers like me just dont have Dx11 cards and are still pleased with their high end Dx10 cards.
Like the Gtx280/295 for example. Crysis took advantage out of dx10 back in the days.. and some guys on the internet spoke about Dx10 stuff was mentioned in the Leak`s file structures. So will Crysis 2 take any advantage of Direct X10? And dont tell me Dx 10 runs bad.. I play Metro 2023 with my Gtx 280 and it looks and runs amazing though its running in Dx10 mode. I have installed Direct X11 on my computer... and some of the Dx11 features ( the more basic ones) seem to increase the overall performance in games. I hope that if Dx11 will be the only other choice among the Dx9-mode, it allows me to use some of the Dx 10/11 features my card has to offer.

Is anyone here who could bring light into my darkness ?

What? Are you kiddin me?
Ok, it is definitive. I see good that Crytek build a Crysis 2 version to Xbox 360 and Play Station 3, but that Crysis 2 PC version doesn't have Directx10 and Directx11 is a import insult!. We rest you, Crytek, and you give us with a version withouth Directx10 or Directx 11? Are you kidding us?
Ok, I am sure that I will buy the game... but a very important PC Gamer part are very ungry. Crytek... you do this bad... I am sure that a very important PC Gamer part will not buy the videogame.

Sorry my language, i am from Spain. But the next message is in spanish, is obvious that I express better in Spanish.

No DX10/DX11 support at release at all bud, sorry. Crytek became a sell-out to the Xbawx.

NVIDIA also said it won't be included at launch. ;) Also, Crytek refuses to explain what it will contain or when its coming with the game. Typical Crytek marketing fail.

They said an announcement soon. The demo announcement version of soon was about 3 weeks as I recall so I guess if you go by that we may not get that news until the 25th when the game is released.

I'm also going to cancel my pre-order until they get the DX10/11 patch in.

Who knows, by the time they get round to it the game may be in a Steam Sale for £5 or something :-/

Ignore Talon, he's a troll.

The whole no DX10/11 thing at launch is just a RUMOR. Crytek is silent because they are nearing approach of launch day and they will continue to stay silent after launch for at least a month. This is common with pretty much EVERY SINGLE game developer....the silence is nothing new in the gaming world.

And even if it's not at launch, then both DX10/11 will come in patches (IF the rumor was to be true).

Odds are, DX10/11 are probably going to be included in launch, and to answer your question, yes, Crysis 2 will use the full advantages of DX9, DX10, and DX11. This was confirmed by Crytek multiple times.

Why do you guys care so much? I played Crysis and Warhead and the only difference noticed between DX10 and DX9 was frame rate. visuals were exactly the same. In one mission there were slightly better sun shafts in DX10, but otherwise exactly the same. Not worth the 50% frame rate loss.

Okay.. if Dx10 will be in im fine.. ( im happy someone like you SilentPhenomed remember more interviews than i do, there were just too many to read them all)

@ IPwn

The problem with some Dx10 titles was that noone used the potential that Dx10 could offer i think.
We all see that god rays are also possible on DX9. But there must be features that Dx10 offers that no game ever used before...
and the 50% framerate loss thing is way exaggerated.
