Direct X11: another letdown for gamers...

Post » Thu Jun 02, 2011 11:21 pm

So after i investigated quite a time about the "new wonder" called Directx 11 i must say...
god this Version is even more of a letdown than Direct x10 was.
My concerns grew over the time since the first "so called" directx 11 supported games came out: StalkerCOP,DIRT2,AVP and METRO 2033. But Ive decided to wait til somehting really usefull and stunning will appear in a game which uses DX11 to create my final statement.

You know what? Im still waiting!
The visual improvements from features like tesselation are not yet to be seen like they were in the unigine heaven demo. Actutally even with heavy use of Dx11-features in total war shogun 2 or the Witcher 2, the differences are really hard to see. Some differences wouldnt even require the exclusive use of DX11.
Why? Because for these "minor" visual differences you have to spend a lot of performance and the effort it takes to imply it into a gamengine are not worth the time and money.

The most impressive DX11 feature usage was the samaritan DEmo from Epic...
It uses every single feature DX11 could offer and it looks groundbreaking...

I think we need a cut... its not enough to give us build in DX11 features in DX10/9 games.

There must be DX11 exclusive games to show remarkable changes.

well the console thing again comes up and the fact that DX11 bogs down even the most powerful cards in some games are factors. so when crysis 2 DX11 is patched and the current hardware is getting hammered, just remember we asked for it. but i want it anyway, and new cards will be released in less than a year, well then no excuse for not DX11 exclusive.

THE CONSOLE MARKET IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS SLOW PAST OF DEVELOPMENT!!! Most producers are still making games that run on 5 to 6 year old hardware. Why should they develop DX15 or make beter hardware for the pc, while the software is lacking behing like crazy........An avarage gamedeveloper has to brand his game on the PC, 360, the ps3 and if they are really crazy they also ad the hendhelds. SAME **** HAPPEND TO CRYTEK. EA DEMANDED THEM TO MAKE CRYSIS PART 2 FOR THE CONSOLE.

Ofcourse Crytek also wanted this, heh....the money people, the damn money if we also release this game on the console. I guess the rest is clear as crystal. They totally **** up the pc side. The first achcievement you get on the console is saying it all. Really a sad development.

The nurve of these companies also asking us pc gamers to pay money for the latest DLC. The best joke so far in 2011, if you ask me

Why WASTE time implementing a feature that would not add anything substantial to the game especially when significant amount of time is needed to correctly and efficiently support the feature? That is the case with DX11. Not because it looks pretty in a tech demo that only has graphics to render means that its easy or game ready. New technologies take time and when games are on a time and financial budget, things like DX11 would ALWAYS take a back seat.

but along with DX11 we may be getting textures and AA as well to bring crysis 2 up to or surpass crysis 1 in looks. and we all know that consoles cannot run crysis 1 even at the lowest settings, so the current state of crysis 2 graphics is almost entirely due to consoles, DX11 or not. so the potential to up the graphics is certainly still there.

HELLO???? WE ALREADY HAVE OUR FIRST DLC, AND YOU GUYS HERE ARE TALKING ABOUT AND WAITING ON DX11? YOU ALL MUST BE CRAZY OR GOOD HEARTED. DID YOU REALLY THINK THAT THEY DECIDED TO MAKE A DLC FOR FUN???? OR THAT THEY HAD TO CHOOSE BETWEEN MAKING DX11 FOR A COUPLE OF LOSERS OUT THERE THAT DECIDED TO BUY EXPENSIVE PC PART OR A DLC??? GUESS AGAIN GUYS. DX11 IS NOT GONNA GIVE CRYTEK OR EA ANY EXTRA MONEY. IT WILL ONLY TAKE UP TIME AND RESOURCES. THEY ARE PROBALLY ALREADY MAKING A SECOND DLC SO THEY CAN EVEN MAKE MORE MONEY.

AND IF THE DX11 PATCH FINALLY GETS HERE IT WILL BE FULL OF BUGS, AND TRUST ME....WE CAN ALREADY PLAY BF3 AT THAT TIME........THIS GAME IS DEAD. THERE IS NO TRUST IN CRYTEK AND THEY MESSED UP BIG TIME.

LOOK @ VALVE OR BLIZZARD AND LEARN CRYTEK/EA; STUPID LAME ASS AMERICAN COMMERCIAL COMPANY

well some people did buy the DLC as is and some will buy the DLC when DX11 is patched, so crytek will get extra money for DX11 indirectly. but they got to minimize the bugs too.

LOL, that's the CryEngine #3 smart ass. Jesus. They built this version so it would be compatible with the consoles. OMFG!!! Crysis1 will in no way run on the 360 or on the ps3 with all settings on and on high. And if it does somehow run it will look like pacman.

Some folks are ignorant to what can be done with DX9 and ASSume that because it looks great it must be DX11.

The only "difference" in CE3 for consoles vs. CE2 is the draw distance basically. The water is a bit worse and the shadows go at half the speed but thsi shows you could basically pull off the same game.

Learn what? That Crysis is demonstrated to be RUNNING on consoles? As I have said before, Yes they are using Cryengine 3 however the FACT is that they were running Crysis using Cryengine 3.

This is not CE2 vs CE3, this is PC vs Console.... pointless attend to prove something since CE3 on PC can do more than on console.

lol, why is this discussion even running?, this is true, Crytek did manage to recreate a portion of the island, but you morons fail to see, there is no AI, the guy is "walking" to compensate for the **** framerate hes getting, shadows are slashed, FoV is about 15 meters, blurring is being used to cover up the 420p resolution, the demonstration with the sheet metal proves the engine is being starved to death and like Wardice said, this is not CE2 vs CE3, CE3 dominates, but it was the consoles themselves that are not even glazing the quarter milestone of what this engine can really do for the PC. Any of you guyz watching the video can clearly see that on the consoles, there are no trees in the distance, clouds are a picture glued to the skybox, and no sound was playing.(overlapped music doesn't count) Which is why you guys fail to understand there is more to a game than just what you can see.

Let Dx11 come, my system can handle it! One of the most extreme directX11 games out is Metro 2033, though it may not "look" as extreme as some others, as far as it goes on how hard it is on your system, its extreme. If you can run Metro 2033 ok, you should be fine.

CE3 is more like CE 1.5, that's the point of the video. The textures are 1/4th of the resolution, the draw distance is cut by more than half, scripted shadow falls instead of real time shadowing effects, whole screen motion blur as opposed to per object motion blur. The list goes on.

The thread should be renamed to "Direct X11: another letdown for hardware enthusiasts..."

The average gamer doesn't really care about the fancy graphics. Because the average gamer will whoop your ass on any server, any time with the lowest graphic settings possible.

Your pretty 500 dollar card doesn't make you any better. So no, gamers do not care for DX11, They care for the subtle problems the game has such as unlocks not unlocking, music playing over music, and annoying server connections dropping.

DX11 is a fancy new tech now. It needs time to be polished and worked on properly. So if you really care about the game, complain about the problems that shouldn't be there in the first place, not some extra features that will only affect the hardware enthusiast side of the community. Crysis 2 is a game, not a benchmark.
